    Translation:

As anticipated by friends from @centraldatoca, I was able to confirm that Cruzeiro has ongoing negotiations to sign Gabriel Pec, a player from Los Angeles Galaxy.

The 25-year-old forward has 11 goals and 4 assists in 20 games this year of 2026.

personally unless its a big fee or the Galaxy have a bigger plan in mind, I would not like to see Pec leave the Galaxy so soon.

It would bum me out to see him go. I want to see the killer Ps again.

These teams are smart, they know they're buying low on a player who was garnering EPL attention in his debut season with us. Unless there's a home sickness issue going on with Pec, I absolutely do not sell him this season. I'd rather sell Paintsil TBH, but I understand that Pec is the hotter commodity. Question for all: if we could somehow get Lewandowski, Bernardo Silva, someone of that pedigree but it costs us having to sell Pec, do you go for it? What international players would you be willing to clear out a DP spot for? Let's not forget that we have an above average MLS quality DP striker currently on the mend and he will be back...

Agree with everything but the last sentence. Over 4 MLS seasons Klauss has produced 0.53 g+a/90m. According to AI, for whatever that is worth, the average MLS forward produces 0.6-0.7 g+a/90m. Ignoring AI, my experience is that 0.53 is not bad but neither is it particularly good.

Also even looking at his tiny 5 game sample size of 0.82 g+a/90 for us, that puts him in 20th place for 2026 forwards.

So Klauss is an average MLS forward, IMO. Don’t get me wrong - I appreciate his skills. I believe he’s pretty damn good relative to most soccer players. But the average MLS forward is pretty damned good as well.

I would move Pec for Bernardo Silva but not for Lewa. If we could get a world class midfielder it's a no brainer. We need to control the middle of the field and we desperately need someone who can get out of pressure and make the right pass. Wingers are more replaceable...heck Bruce could always find someone from Northern Europe to light up the wings. I feel confident we could find a serviceable winger and/or start Cuevas every game up there and see if we can develop him. Or move Paintsil to the right and start Harbor Miller on the left.

Well, I think Klauss' hot start was more of what he is capable of with a fully functioning (and healthy) Galaxy squad. That to me looked like an above average MLS striker, and it was also pretty clear to me that we looked a lot better as a team when he played. He's not perfect, and he damn sure isn't a DP IMO, but for the TAM player he should be (DP status was a calculated cap related thing this year) he's very good and from what I've seen could be even better for us than he was with STL. I also simply brought him up because he is under contract and he will be back, he isn't getting moved or bought down so like it or not he is one of our DPs for the rest of the season. My early eye test though showed me that he's more Joveljic level impact potentially than let's say a Christian Ramirez. Hope he's using the time off to get healthy and sharp again.

I think we evaluate him pretty similarly- no DP but very good for a TAM player. I think I just rate the average starting MLS forward (a set which includes a lot of DPs) higher than you do. In any case it doesn’t matter because varying opinions are what this board is for. It would be dreadfully boring if we always agreed.

I will say that we are definitely a better team when we have a TAM-caliber forward on it than when we have no any-caliber forwards on it.

Logically makes sense but weirdly enough that may not be the case for our particular team. When Klauss went out we moved Paintsil (or Reus) up top, our defense improved and we went on a winning streak. Not because Klauss wasn’t a good striker but because Paintsil and Reus are bad midfield defenders. At least that is my interpretation.

Don't disagree. But even if he doesn't start, having him sub into a game instead of Nascimento or Ramos Jr when we need a good is a huge improvement.

Well, Bernardo Silva opted to sign with the real Galácticos... Bastard! Guess we really need to temper our expectations for the caliber of player realistically obtainable and willing to play for us. Hopefully post-WC there will be more serious rumors and links.

~$1M in GAM would certainly jump start the Galaxy's transfer window

Galaxy might be right there. If Reus at 36 was $400,000 two years ago, then Casemiro today is probably $1,000,000

looks like its official, he is off to Miami but I wasn't able to find anything official from the Galaxy on the compensation but it does seem to be the reported 1M dollars in GAM

also the uproar from the non Miami fans is pretty amusing and plenty are calling for MLS to remove the financial restrictions as the perception is only Miami is allowed to operate above the financial rules and everyone else has to stay within the financial guidelines, FC Cincinnati seem to be the most salty.

I think the rule is a bit suspect - basically teams are getting paid to call dibs. But the rule has been in place for years and everyone had access to it so it’s fair in that one sense.

I can see the desire for a rule to protect the teams in smaller, often “less desirable” markets for 20-somethings. Say Charlotte finds out a Euro star is looking to move, contacts him and tries to negotiate with him. NYCFC or the LA teams or Miami hears about this and calls up the player and says whatever CLT offers you we will match and you don’t have to live in the boondocks. Voila, CLT is left again at the alter. And w/o compensation CLT and other small market teams just get weaker and weaker.

I’m not sure what the solution is.

I'm not sure of the solution either, I think the main complaint for this transaction is how Miami is able to load up with elite players and stay under any financial penalties, Cincy FC seems to be the most upset about it, so I'm not sure what the beef is there, and the Rodriguez/Minny FC debacle is a concern too as it seems these "big" name players have trouble adjusting to cities with less nightlife.

and any significant changes to the current system would need a complete tear down and the people currently making significant profits will not be on board with that, the only idea I can think of is rewarding those smaller team who invest more in their Academies or in to more international youths and they get some kind of financial freedom if they hit certain goals.

thanks for the info, the link I provided from Fabrizio who seems more in the know in Europe, than MLS made it seem like a done deal and all parties demands having been satisfied, while Bogert has been steadfast on things still a work in progress, hopefully this is settled soon as I would hate for this to drag on as much as it has already.

Report that Galaxy close to transferring Cuevas to Santos Laguna

$8M is way too low for Gabriel Pec IMO.

Cuevas is a nice young prospect with upside. The price really needs to be right here.

And 8 million for Pec may really be about what he’s worth on the international market, but you’ve got to think the Galaxy is holding out for something in the neighborhood of 10 million to break even on him.
