So a few words on Troy Elgersma (can't say I'm familiar with him, he only played 8 games for VCFC) : he's a left-footed winger who has played both in a 4-4-2 and as a wingback in a 3-5-2 (exclusively on the left side until last night where he played on the right but looked a little bit less comfortable). Big and strong winger who plays a lot of defense, but looks also competent in the final third. He's not a game changer and I'm not sure he has much upside, but if you ask me who are the VCFC players the first team could use right now, his name will quickly pop up. We definitely need wingers with all the injuries and he's more useful than Lepley so the two moves are understandable. Speaking of Tucker, it's probably the end of his Galaxy career. Being selected this late in the Draft (62nd pick !) and still make a MLS roster for three straight seasons, and win a MLS Cup in your first year is more than a lot of college players could wish for.
In case anyone was wondering, Tucker Lepley had a nice debut with Oakland Roots in USL on loan from the Galaxy Tucker Lepley. Golazo https://t.co/8gvwMpYbuE— Damian Calhoun (@DamianCalhoun) May 10, 2026
Not sure why they are doing this, but it seems like it must open up a roster mechanism. Possibly a short-term hardship call-up or a bridge to a transfer Forward João Klauss has been placed on the Injured List. With this short-term designation, Klauss will miss the Galaxy’s next six matches. He will be reeligible for the match against FC Dallas on August 1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.📰: https://t.co/Bc3s7K3qXe pic.twitter.com/Bzb3lBQYCs— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) May 14, 2026
Yeah that’s odd. Does it save cap money somehow? I guess it rules him out in the first post World Cup games including el traffico.
Big news. There has to be some hidden strategic reason for this. Why else tie your hands like this? It also means we will be playing Paintsil up top for awhile. Hopefully Vanney doesn’t restart the Nasci experiment.
Maybe this has something to do with international slots. We have two spots returning to other clubs during the WC, maybe it will give us time to sort things out with new signings/departures. Speaking of departures, I won't be surprised to see Nasci not coming back, but also Micovic being sold or loaned somewhere in Europe. It doesn't make sense to keep him on the bench.
We need a backup goalie in case of injury. Unless our 3rd keeper is strong I would expect us to hold onto him, especially since he isn’t that expensive.
Buying the international roster spot is the expensive part for him. That in effect triples his salary.
I forgot about that. We should have just kept McCarthy. He was at least as good as Micovic in my opinion.
If they did loan out or sell Micovic to reclaim the international slot, it wouldn't shock me if they signed Sebastian Conlon from VCFC as the third GK and just moved up Brady Scott. Brady is going to be 27 next month, played with the USYNT at the U20 level and was called up to the USYNT U23 team for a camp, has experience playing abroad at the lower levels in Germany (29 games), and has played 76 games in MLS Next Pro and 9 games in USLC. If the Galaxy don't think he's good enough yet to be the backup, then I'm not sure what is going to get him there. There are a lot of young GKs starting or serving as the primary backup for MLS teams younger than he is. Conlon, who started 77 games in his 4 year college career, has a similar profile coming out of college to guys like Roman Celentano, who started for FC Cincinnati from Day 1.
Just in case anyone thought the Casemiro rumor was plausible. At least we should get some compensation from Miami since we reportedly have his MLS rights 🚨 BREAKING: Inter Miami is preferred destination for Brazil int'l Casemiro & Miami is closing in on a deal, sources tell @PaulTenorio & I.➕ The LA Galaxy have priority rights & made offers to Casemiro too. That situation needs to be resolved. https://t.co/gYrk82ghJp— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) May 20, 2026
thanks for the information it is a sad state of affairs that the Galaxy are no longer a preferred destination, with that being said I hope Kuntz is able to work out a deal that will clearly benefit the Galaxy in the long run and its going to be interesting to see how Miami is going to be able to work him into their budget and MLS financial guidelines
Well, Messi is the draw. That's what Casemiro wants. But if we can get a bunch of GMB (Garber Messi Bucks) for his rights, that still helps us.
Casemiro notwithstanding, what does everyone think is the one player/position we could bring in that really helps the team this team for the back-half of the seson? Recognizing that we don't have a DP spot and will have limited funds. I suppose we will also have a U22 spot available as well - since I don't think the team plans to purchase Nascimento - price is too much for someone so unproven, IMHO. So we might be able to bring in two players. What is everyone thinking? Obviously, if we could find another Dejan-in-the-rough U22 forward, that would be amazing. But beyond that, what do we most desperately need (that's not a new coach....)
here is a gift article on Casemiro https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/72...unlocked_article_code=1.j1A.SVGM.nVOxfz9oEaem
We paid $400,000 for Reus' Discovery rights so seems like $600-700k or so would be the fair market value for Casemiro.
Miami already has two good DMs : David Ayala (23 years old, U-22 spot, contract ends in December), and Yannick Bright (24 years old, new contract last winter). The first is super talented but has been in a weird spot with his last club (Portland) because of contract situation, and Bright is one of the most underpaid players in MLS. There is maybe something to look for here.
Maybe there is smoke here too : Mo Dahoud (30) verlässt Eintracht Frankfurt ablösefrei. Die…— Patrick Berger (@berger_pj) May 19, 2026 The LA Galaxy are said to be interested in 30-years old DM Mahmoud Dahoud from Frankfurt. He's a friend and a former teammate of Marco Reus.
I'm a broken record, but have we explored Bernardo Silva? TAM summer deal and then a DP. Find a way Kuntz!
Looking at the Casemiro deal...where does Miami get the money from? What I read is they have zero cash right now. They are going to have to pay us at least 400k in allocation money and then pay Casemiro his TAM deal...will be interesting who they sell (they need an international spot as well).
this is my worry, the league is going to screw us and we're not going to get our discovery rights GAM because...Miami
Article also says there’s interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia as well which can both offer big money. The draw of Reus and LA would need to counter that as we are cash strapped already having 3 DPs.
Did anyone ever figure out why we did that Klaus roster move? he posted himself walking in his heavy boot on Instagram the other day. He did not look like somebody who was gonna be playing competitive soccer in less than three months. I’m no doctor however.
He would be the perfect replacement for Sergio Busquets and if they can get him without someone dropping a DP tag that would be amazing.
We need to start seriously scouting for a true Center Attacking Midfielder so that we don't need to keep fearing Riqui Puig's absence. And yes another real forward would be nice as well.
