AFC U20 Womens Asian Cup CHN v UZB Starts in 30 mins....may be your last chance to see Colilin Bell singing the Chinese National Anthem Edit...sorry Colin
ACL injury just a year ago, not a single match played since and last time she scored was 2 years ago... I'm wondering how the scouting process worked here...
Does anyone know about working streaming feeds for the friendly match vs USA? It should start at 22:30 in Europe, shouldn't it?
AFC U20 Womens Asian Cup F.T...CHN 2-1 UZB No upset Colin Bell gets to sing another day (If there was a prize for 'Big Hair' UZB would win easily)
(Lol, not exactly North Korean style. Well, at least they scored.) I was rather fond of the Uzbeks, so a pity they will not go to the U20 WWC.
I haven't been able to see yet even one game . And couldn't see the previous pages of the thread. Any angel wants to give 2 cents on this u20 squad? I've seen Fukushima doing well as usual, and I was surprised to not see Ota starting against Australia. Is it Aoki and... who? in defense? Any comments on the players as I catch up are welcome
CBs are rotated by Oota, Aoki, Sato Mone and Aso. Sato Mone is tall and versatile, being able to play as the both FBs too. Aso is the best passer. She can deliver very sharp and accurate passes forward.
I have not seen any weakpoints in this squad so far. It would be revealed for the first time when they played against North Korea. They might be overwhelmed by its speed and physical strength especially in defence.
The finishing hasn't always been sharp, although in the end they always found a way, eventually. (It has to be said that this has traditionally been a problem for most Nadeshiko Japan's selections at any age-level ) Also, the opponents have seldom put any pressure on our defense, so we're not sure how they will fare against a serious offense-line. India, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam weren't a threat at all. Australia were the only decent-level team we've met and, although we scored 5 to them, they scored 2 to us.
I think it's 23:30 in continental Europe, 22:30 in the UK, 06:30 in Japan. I think Abema is streaming it in Japan, not sure about the US.
Keisuke Oota, an assistant coach in University of Central Florida has been called up to Nadeshiko Japan international camp now in US. Future assistant coach under new head coach?

Over the last 2 seasons they've attracted a player from Iga, 3 from Veertien including Kuwahara Manon, 6 from last years Ichihara squad and have a former Lilywolf player. They had a training match vs Belle last weekend and have another vs Iga next.
I’m happy to see the U20 team having a good run in the tournament! I’ve been watching the last few games in re-live mode. Some great football there—excited to see if they can follow in the senior team's footsteps (although it will be difficult considering the remaining teams). Does anyone know if it will be possible for Europeans to watch the full match in re-live mode between the US and Japan somewhere later? Ah classy interview indeed. You know, what irks me a bit is the way the Japanese side handled this. On the JFA site, just one short sentence about the departure of the manager. No words of acknowledgement of and gratitude for his achievements with the team. You know, the usual stuff you see when clubs announce these things: "XX has led the team to YY, for which we are thankful", "we wish XX all the best for his future" etc. Add to that the unusually harsh words from Sasaki about Nielsen. Also, no sign of acknowledgement from the players either. I'm used to reading posts from male players of the sort "thanks gaffer" on their instas whenever a coach with a successful history leaves. Feels a bit strange, at least to me. Of course, social media only shows what we can see from the outside. That doesn't mean the coach and the players didn't part ways amicably—at least, that's what his interview implies.
Mmm, if it's 23:30, I am not sure if I'll have the strength to follow the game entirely, but of course it all depends on the fact that I find a streaming.
Nice line-up, but I am afraid I'll give up guys. After an hard week at work, I can't stay up until 1:00 am to watch the game . I anyway hope it will be a good one and I'll find a way to watch it tomorrow.
