The quote actually wasn't by me, but I approve. At least she was involved in 3 or 4 backpasses by Saki Kumagai, just to let her have some fun.

This Nadeshiko group is basically the same as Urawa in the AWCL last season. 2-0 against Taiwan, but today's game was a bit "disappointing" compared to Urawa's performance against Odisha.
Match two Post Game thoughts This game was never about which team was going to reign supreme after the head referee blew the final whistle at the end time of the match but more about ... - giving the bulk of the "A+" team core much needed and strategic time to rest, hydrate and recuperate their bodies after a very intense high heat defensive opening match -given what India had in terms of pure skillset and global league experience of its players vs Japan I was quite surprised the Team India Coach opted not to play more like CT/Taiwan which I thought would have been a better tactical strategy to limit Japan's offensive fire power. - giving most of the "A" team playing time to build cohesion among all the players and to make them feel that they are a complete team, to build their confidence and to be able to make some further assessments where each player could be useful to the core as this type of tournament format is very difficult and contributions will be required by all team members. -giving some of the debutantes a prime opportunity to play and integrate into the Senior Nadeshiko Level at an international stage and experience different types of play and physicality they otherwise may not get to experience in their domestic leagues. - Yuzuki Yamamoto scored a exceptional goal and hopefully this tournament will showcase her precocious talents to German or English League scouts. - Mr Nielsen and his team of coaches did what they needed to do so no surprises. - Nadeshiko Japan midfield continues to be a key strength as it could be debated that Nadeshiko has two or perhaps even three top ten midfielders in the Women's professional game currently. Upcoming Matches I don't think Nadeshiko Japan will see too many impediments on this road to potentially lifting the tournament winners trophy until they play Australia, DPRK, China, or just maybe Korea so business as usual until these particular very benchmark comparision matches take place.
Could only watch the game this evening. I am very happy about the result and the game. This was the Japanese Joga Bonito I've been craving. Of course, I am aware of the level of today's opponent, which puts this performance in perspective. Nevertheless it just felt good to watch that kind of Nadeshiko match again. On to the next one!
If you’re referring to her lack of smiles on the field, I noticed that too. When she was appointed captain, she mentioned that she wanted to be stricter with her teammates on the field. Nadeshiko players have very good relationships with each other, and while that can create great chemistry on and off the field, it has also meant that players sometimes go easy on one another. She has said that while she wants to maintain the team’s positive atmosphere, she also wants to raise the standards so that small mistakes aren’t overlooked and everyone is constantly pushing each other to perform at their best. You might be right that something is wrong, and if that’s the case we’ll probably find out after the tournament. But this is the first major competition since she became captain, so maybe we’re simply seeing the more serious side of her leadership.

60 MIN AUS 2- 3 KOR...great game Yamashita reffing the game 80 min..did I just hear crowd 60k or 50k?
That result throws Australia directly into the path of either China (if they're lucky) or North Korea (if they're not) in the knock-out quarter finals, while South Korea gets to face one of the third-place minnows of the tournament.
Yep, tough road, so actually a lot was riding on today's game. Assuming Japan top group C, it looks likely (correct me if I am wrong) that they will face the Philippines.
I have to say, the draw was very kind to Nadeshiko in hindsight. A group we pretty much knew we would top, three of the five heavyweights on the other side of the bracket, and we’ll only have to change cities once during the entire tournament while other teams are traveling back and forth across the country. Of course, by saying this I’ve probably doomed a complacent Nadeshiko to a semi-final exit against a battle hardened South Korea.
The draw is quite unbalanced with 1 group winner, 1 second placed team and the 2 third-placed teams in one half of the draw and 2 group winners and two second placed teams in the other half. That's also a problem because it means that at least one of the third-placed teams will qualify for the World Cup while we have at least a group winner or second placed team that has to go the Inter-confederation play-offs (Likely Chinese Taipei). Maybe a clever move by AFC to qualify a team through play-offs while UEFA will sent their weakest play-off winner to Inter-confederation play-offs.
