I appreciate your thoughtful response. I understand the "Fire Vanney,!" posts, but I like solutions. I do that at work. Thanks for offering a measured reply. I've stayed away from here for a bit to avoid all the negativity. Thanks again for a sane, thoughtful reply.
According to this (less than completely reliable Instagram account, Saprissa isn’t going to pick up Gino Vivi’s option and he’s coming back to the Galaxy. Since he’s an int’l, I assume he’ll be loaned down to VCFC until they open up a spot or sell him in the transfer window

I haven't always been a Fire Vanney guy and in fact skydog and I have clashed a lot over that topic. But I've never disagreed with the critique of Vanney's defense. He's never been able to bring it all together for this team defensively. Even looking beyond the numbers, over the course of Vanney's tenure, we've seen the team struggle with: 1) conceding first / early 2) conceding late 3) conceding multiple goals. In general, the teams often looks flat in the first half, then come alive in the 2nd or after being scored on. This was true even last year, though there were signs of improvement on defense leading up to and throughout the playoffs. Early in Greg's tenure, there were excuses for the bad defense; we were cycling through some pretty mediocre defenders still. But those defensive issues have now been consistent problems across multiple defenders and systems. I feel what we're witnessing now is a sort of "dam break"; Vanney could not solve the defensive problems over multiple years and now has no way of covering them up. I'm convinced we'll be in this downward spiral until he moves on.

I would be for this move if it ends up where FIFA does a "nevermind" on LAFC for the CWC and invites the Gs instead to have a potential Messi/Ronaldo showdown...lol
Looking at our team and the summer transfer window, do we even have any resources available to do anything? Trying to think what this team can do to be in a better position next season. I wonder if there is any house cleaning we can do to raise funds for the future. Aude out maybe? Can't really think of too many assets we have. If we were going to add anything for this season I would think it would still be central midfield help. To me that is our weakest spot on the field. That and center forward but we're not going to get anything better than what we have with the lack of resources available.
Yeah, somehow we are broke despite having a mediocre roster (no midfield, no depth, one mediocre forward). I know we are missing Puig but still - how is this happening? Who are we wasting our $ on?
Edwin Cerrillo is trade bait to me. Not necessarily this summer, but if the price is right we can improve here. Agree on Aude, if he's not the number 1 LB at the end of this season I'm ready to move on. There were rumors of interest from a couple of Argentinian teams last winter, I think he still has value there.
There's a bunch of things we can do: 1. Trade a player within MLS or transfer them outside of MLS. One of our goalkeepers is the most obvious since we have 4 rostered. 2. Buy out a second player, which frees up the rest of their salary space. That could be one of the goalkeepers too. 3. Move Puig to the season-ending injury list, using his DP slot to sign someone for the rest of the season. We would need a plan for accommodating that player for next season
4. Trade 2026 cap space (which we have plenty of) to get some cap space right now (i.e. we could trade 300K of 2026 TAM to another team for 150K of 2025 TAM). Although this doesn't really make sense to do in a season that is already out of reach, EXCEPT that the summer window is usually the better window to get players. So if there is someone out there who fits a need for '25 AND '26 it might make sense to overspend a little now to lock them in.

Skydog, meet AEG management and ownership not reinvesting any part of the $4mm proceeds from the sale of Dejan Joveljic to SKC into the roster this year with no clear indication that it will ever be reinvested in the club. $3mm could have been reinvested into GAM in 2025.
Do we have any confirmation on this? If this is true, its the one of the worst decisions I can remember.
This is just speculation as far as I know. Jovelic’s sale also came after Brugman and Delgado’s trade, so at that point the question would have been when to declare you were using it. I think you can use it next year and there may have been benefits to waiting to declare that.
yeah, the strongest evidence to me that AEG pocketed the cash is that the GAM list that came out from MLS after the deal had us at $0 GAM. It's possible that there were payment terms or something on that $4m and the GAM only comes in as the cash comes in or a few other variables that *might* mean that we did/will convert the cash to GAM but we haven't seen that yet. I pray we converted that to GAM. If we really want to be the flagship MLS franchise, that's exactly how you have to go about it. Sell players on and reinvest the profits in the roster.
They also might not have converted it to GAM, but still reinvested it in the "roster" in a future sense by spending it on the Academy or VCFC, but I have no reason to believe that's what they did.
Looks like we're getting some money as a result of Efrain Alvarez' transfer to Chivas. Not sure whether all or any of that can be used on the roster. 1929962416705556675 is not a valid tweet id
I don't see how Efrain's stats for the Xolos (5g 6a in all competitions this season) translate into a $7mm transfer fee.
