If he would just come off of his line *some* of the time, it wouldn’t put so much pressure on the defense. You can see teams that have scouted him purposefully dropping crosses at the 6. It’s such a wasted chance usually to just loft it in and have the keeper scoop it up, but he’s so locked in his position. I suspect he’s such a good shot stopper that this rarely hurt him in his development, thus his stay at home positioning, but against better level of play it can be exploited. I think his hands are OK, but again he is ultra conservative opting to punch away vs catch many balls even if it leads to more shots.
Neal not in the 18 for Montreal. The Fotmob app claims a knee injury and it will keep him out till mid April. (Not sure how accurate their injury info is) just saying. Both Brugman and Neal have had lots of injuries (and Caceres) so that alone a huge factor in moving them I’d bet.
My biggest critique of Neal last year was that he was softer than pocket tissues when it came to injuries and he chose to go gallivant around with the USMNT then solidifying his role with the Galaxy, so I'm not too sad about him leaving, I'd be shocked if he amounted to more than what he is now, however if he exceeds expectations, I'd be thrilled for him and will happily eat crow. as mentioned earlier by other posters, our FO is cold blooded and its better to move them a year earlier than a year late and I'm glad we have that type of FO, as fans we are emotionally attached but business is business when it comes to making decisions and our FO seems to be ahead of the curve
Maybe Neal prioritized the NT, but I’ll always feel for him that he was kept out of the Olympics by the Galaxy, and we were so dire that year anyway. Once in a lifetime chance.
They also kept him out of the U-20 World Cup the year before. Two major world tournaments that would have been lifetime memories and experience. I would have definitely held that against the Galaxy and have moved on too.
I missed these trades from Friday: We traded a 2026 Int'l slot to Dallas for $200K in GAM https://www.lagalaxy.com/news/la-ga...n-exchange-for-2026-international-roster-slot We then turned around and used the $200K in GAM plus our 1st round draft pick in 2026 to acquire a 2025 int'l slot from Orlando https://www.lagalaxy.com/news/la-galaxy-acquire-2025-international-roster-slot-from-orlando-city-sc By my count, here are our int'l players Micovic Aude Yamane Yoshida Zanka Sanabria Nascimento Puig Pec Paintsil Reus Garces Plus Bibout and Essengue (but I'm assuming they are loaned back to VCFC). It's also possible one or more players has received a green card or, under the 2025 rules, has applied for a green card after meeting the residency requirements and has a visa interview scheduled. That's quite a lot of int'l players considering 8 is the normal allocation. Puig, and maybe Paintsil, are also likely on the Injured List (not on the Season-Ending Injured List), which means they will miss at least 6 games. That means we have an open roster spot for them and we can have a replacement player who occupies their international spot while they are out. My guess is that they might use Paintsil's int'l slot for Bibout and/or Essengue at the beginning of the season since he comes back sooner, but they might be using Puig's int'l spot for a regular senior player since we wouldn't need to acquire another int'l slot until later in the season when the price would be a lot lower than $200K in GAM + a 1st round draft pick. This int'l player crunch is one of the problems with trading Brugman (who had a green card) and Delgado (domestic). It also was a benefit of acquiring Ramirez after we traded Jovelic, since Ramirez is a domestic, and of acquiring Wynder (domestic).
Nascimento update (and, no, I don't think he's the answer to the Galaxy's problems) 1893866857146220555 is not a valid tweet id
MLS released the Rosters for every team and the classification of each player Confirming my earlier speculation, Puig was placed on the (non-season ending) injury list, which freed up his int'l slot. Bibout was loaned to VCFC, but not Essengue and it looks like Essengue must have his green card because he's not listed as an int'l. Parente is a homegrown by virtue of being a Columbus homegrown originally. https://mlssoccer.app.box.com/s/84t29b7ao8ggrfhp3vzky5h00f2qhbfu
They should use MLS roster rules to construct a Turing test for AI. If it can figure that out it has surpassed humans!
How does this make any sense? What are our major new expenses: Pec moves to full DP. Reus hits for a full-year salary Bonuses But we also cut Brugman's salary at the same time. How did we spend almost 4 million in GAM!? (and why did we decide to be cheap about turning Jovelic into GAM?)
Maybe we’re still in the hangover phase from Klein, plus a little bit of Kuntz needing to make a big splash with in his first full season in charge. He bought himself at least 3 or 4 years of leeway. Though compared to Miami and Cinnci I’m at a loss.
So ridiculous. 30 years in and these stupid rules just serve to harm success. What’s the point at this stage? Just discourages me from watching this season knowing we’ve started the season with two losses (three if we count champions league) and very little hope until Paintsil AND Puig come back— and even then their #9 is Ramirez/Berry. Great..
Is it possible that AEG decided to pocket the Dejan sale money and not convert and invest it into GAM? I don't know in what universe that makes any sense. This is wild. We are a broke ass club
Perhaps, but it also may be that SKC is paying installments and/or we want to delay the conversion decision until we know whether we need it in the summer window.
My read of the X post is exactly that. AEG decided to take some of the Dejan $ for their coffers rather than using it as GAM that could pay for a comparable replacement. It’s a business, they have that right, but it seems short sighted. The difference between a meh team and a great team is often down to one goal scorer. LAG extracting say $3 mil pocket $ may be penny wise, pound foolish. We were rebuilding our rep as a marquee team but that has gone to caca. No bueño.
Well that’s bogus, CWC teams get GAM money. So we get screwed again. I have no love for that tournament, but super weak we lost out on money.
I might be wrong, but I though they said that when doing these cash trades, that the team doesn't have to decide right away how much they are converting to GAM and have a certain window. I could be totally wrong on that - but if that's the case they could be waiting for the summer window to see how much they will need - as I'm sure that once you do convert it, you can't undo it. But I might be very wrong on that and it could be that AEG just wanted some return on their investment.
I mentioned waiting until the summer transfer window in my post up-thread. It was my impression as well that they didn't have to decide to do it right away. I think the gripe is that if we knew we were getting this money from Jovelic we could have kept Delgado, but the Delgado deal came first and we weren't positive we were going to find a deal for Jovelic. Maybe we could have kept Sean Davis since that occurred afterward, but I don't think they rated him that highly regardless of the cap issues.
https://carpetasfcb.com/en/male/riq...to-switch-barca-for-los-angeles-galaxy-in-mls You have to jump far down to read who they're talking about but its Ansu Fati. Basically the article talks about Puig possibly recruiting for us. I have no clue as to the creditability of this, and clearly we're not sure what our financial situation is either.
