Sara Ito back in the team with new coach played full match against Essen. Potsdam still pointless and goalless after 6 matches.
Nadeshiko League 1 H.T...Ehime 0-0 Nittaidai Very competative and pretty even first half with neither side able to produce clear cut scoring chances...if anything Ehime had the more promising attacks...Kazuko Fujisawa who for a couple of seasons was one of the home sides best players returns...the first game ended in a goalless draw so this viewer wouldn't be surprised if neither side is able to break the deadlock in the next 45 mins
Nadeshiko League 1 F.T... Ehime 0-1 Nittaidai The difference between the two sides was a not very 'brave' goalkeeper #1 Hamada for Ehime FC Ladies and a quick thinking #14 for Nittaidai Madoki Japanese Cuisine (Nadeshiko web site starting 11 ...machine translation) who found herself one on one with the keeper at 78 mins. This Ehime follower is very disappointed...they should not have lost this game and if coach starts with the same keeper in the next game he should be sacked on the spot. (Appologies to the goalscorer but I have tried in vain on the very complicated Nittaidai web site to find her name)
Today's result: Nadeshiko League Speranza 0-1 Nagoya (Mizuno) Ehime 0-1 Nittaidai (Madoiwa) Shizuoka (Miwa, Tsuchiya 2) 3-0 Nippatsu As a result, Viama won the title. Nadeshiko League 2 JFA (Itamura 2, Kimura) 3-3 Mie (Sasaki, Kitakubo, Ichikawa) Yamato (Matsuura, Sugiura) 2-0 Seisa Anclas 0-0 Imabari

Congratulations to all Viamaterasu Miyazaki followers League 1 title in their first season in the league Can't argue with a record like that Edit...Reds just about to ko on AFC You Tube channel
AFC Womens Champions League F.T...Ho Chi Minh 0-2 Reds Competative but Reds never looked like losing...good crowd..good atmousphere
Also impressive that Viama won the title without even walking on the pitch today. It could seem that tomorrow's match vs Orca is quite meaningless, but actually it would be a chance for Yuma Saito not to lose contact with Yuzuhi Tsuchiya, who with today's brace lifted herself 3 goals ahead of her in the top-scorers' rankings, and to get a chance to actually challenge her in the final match-day. Not sure if any of you noticed that, but there's in fact a sensational result in today's Nadeshiko League 2's matches: Veertien Mie Ladies scored 3 goals in a single match for the first time in the 20 matches of this season that were played so far! In fact Veertien are famous for being a defensive side: they don't score much and most of their wins are achieved by scoring just a single goal and by consequently outscoring the opponent by the minimal margin of 1-0. This trend is not something new : the last time they had scored 3 goals in Nadeshiko League 2 dates back to the 15th of April of 2023 (basically one year and a half ago) when they won by 1-3 an away match vs Kibi. In the three seasons they have played in Nadeshiko League 2 so far, they never scored more than 3 goals in a single match and the only other time when they scored 3 goals, beyond today's draw and 2023's win, happened on the 12th of June of 2022, another away win and again vs Kibi (their favourite victim? ), this time by 0-3. So, basically, Veertien Mie Ladies score 3 goals in a single match just once per season: the trend will be respected this year, unless they score 3 or more to Imabari or to SEISA in the two final match-days of this season. The previous 3-goals matches had been away wins; this time it was a draw where they had to come back from a 2 goals disadvantage vs a very strong side as JFA Academy. Maybe the drive to achieve that came from another Veertien's recurring recurring trend: the number of draws. In 2022 they finished the season with 7 draws out of 18 matches (2nd place for number of draws, behind Tsukuba with 8); in 2023 they had 8 draws out of 18 matches (more than any other team except Kibi, who were even with them at 8); this season they are already at 9 draws out of 20 matches (record-number of draws along with newly promoted teams Imabari Ladies and Diosa Izumo). So, in three season, they had a total record of 24 draws out of 56 match-days so far: no.one of the other teams who played all the three seasons is even close to 20, and the projections for the ones who just played one or two seasons don't seem to indicate that they could have caught up with them. Not only they had so many draws, but most of them were 0-0 and 1-1: apart from today's 3-3, they only had two 2-2 draws in 2022 and 2023, one per season, and both vs Belle! (Okayama's climate must have something to do with that, considering the two away wins vs Kibi? Although one of the couple of 2-2s vs Belle was actually an home match). With so few goals, it's quite predictable that Veertien can't have many scorers: today's ones were all three at their first goal this season. I'll leave this boatload of info here for you to meditate on them (or not). Other interesting (?) tidbit: JFA's scorers today were the same as last match-day, Mao Itamura and Mirai Kimura, id est JFA's best scorers (and respectively 2nd one and 4th one of Nadeshiko League 2, with 17 and 10 goals respectively); only, one week ago the former had a single goal and the latter a brace, while today it's been the opposite.
That will be up to Jürgen Klopp now . But actually, I'm not entirely sure if Red Bull is even aware that they have bought a womens' team as well (Granted, they already have Red Bull Leipzig Frauen). Interestingly, while current J-league rules require all football clubs to avoid corporate sponsor names in their own name (and instead adopt a “region + nickname” naming format), the WE league has no such rule (hence we have Mynavi Sendai, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Urawa Reds Ladies, etc). So Omiya Ardija Ventus could become Red Bull Omiya, but, presumably, the mens' team cannot (at least, as things stand now..). Both of course can have the Red Bull sponsorship logo on their jerseys.
Highlights: By the way, in Taichung Blue Whale vs Odisha, one of the 4 goals scored by the Taiwanese team was by some Maho Tanaka: I didn't remember about her, but, judging by the name, she has to be Japanese.
I'm not so sure about that this year. At least not so strong at the back. Goals conceded. 2024 - 32 2023 - 15 2022 - 17 Conceded as many as Imabari,32, and 5 less than Tsukuba, 37, but more than any of the other 9 teams.
Yes, she was in Jef youth before, and got the best goal scorer in the Chinese Taipei league a few years ago. I'm not sure, but she may not play in any Nadeshiko league teams. There is another Japanese player in the same league, and she got MVP in 2021. Her name is Wakabayashi Minori. I remember her well, because I wrote her first name by reading it wrongly in this forum long years ago. https://archive.jefunited.co.jp/ladies/player/2014/5.html
WACL 8 teams go for the quarterfinal. HYUNDAI STEEL RED ANGELS WOMEN'S FC (KOR) Abu Dhabi Country Club (UAE) MELBOURNE CITY FC (AUS) Bam Khatoon FC (IRN) Wuhan Jiangda Women’s FC (CHN) Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies (JPN) HO CHI MINH CITY WOMEN'S FC (VIE) TAICHUNG BLUE WHALE WOMEN'S FOOTBALL TEAM (TPE)
Maika Hamano spent whole match on the bench and Chelsea attack has been looking very well in the beginning of the season...
Oh, yes, I remember very well Wakabayashi because, despite my limited knowledge of Japanese language, I was founding it a funny and odd family name too. Even her first name, Minori, although much more common, sounds funny to an Italian ear, because in Italian it means "minors" (the plural of "minor"). Also, I remember her because she looked pretty to me. Didn't know she had ended being in Taiwanese league.
Yuria Sasaki's Boca Juniors beat Santos in penalty shoot out 4-2 (0-0 after FT, no extra time). Sasaki (no. 29) entered the pitch in 80th min. She was designated as 2nd pk taker for her team at penalty shoot out. Sasaki scored her pk which most likely uplifted her team after her teammate initial miss. Boca Juniors will play with Corinthians in the semi final (both teams met in group phase, match ended 0-0)
Today's result: WE League Beleza (Hijikata, Yamamoto 2, Iwasaki) 4-0 Mynavi Nadeshiko League Harima 0-3 Sfida (Fujiwara, Arakawa, Horie) Bunnys (Sato) 1-1 Iga (Masano) Viama (Nagano, Kakazu, Saitou, Itakura) 4-3 Orca (Namiki, Nitta, Kouno) Nadeshiko League 2 Fujizakura (Uchida) 1-2 Kibi (Nemoto, Nishiyama) DR Hiroshima 0-1 Tsukuba (Akamine) Belle (Kakoi, Yokoyama) 2-1 Izumo (Iwashita)
It's so aesthetically pleasing watching her play. She's rather tall and strong woman for Japanese standards, still she moves with such grace, upright posture, performing all touches, turns and passes with ease and elegance...
