And I read that, incredibly (at least according to what had happened so far), Abu Dhabi couldn't manage to beat Sabah (2-2 draw is the final score, despite a Red Card for Sabah), so in the end Yoko Tanaka & Co. win their group. Do we already know the pairings in the quarter finals?

Hasegawa outplayed both Bonmati and Guijarro. Yamashita had very good game despite DAZN comentators trying to fault her for Greenwood errors. Fujino had only 15 mins on the pitch but did her job well, which was keeping the ball upfront as long as possible and covering RB position. Good game and deserved win by Man C. Today's match highlighted Barca's problem, the lack of competition in the Spanish Liga F translates directly into a routine of easy wins. The last time the Blaugrana played against a strong rival like Man City was a few months ago in the LM final match against Chelsea.
For me it would be easy decision as imho Khiata Keating is not even in the same class with Ayaka Yamashita goalkeeping-wise.
With all due respect, but what a delusional comment. If Barca would've scored first and won this game, nobody would've said nothing. Barca midfield outplayed Man City, but the problem is, their style of football can be easily punished by 1 long ball to a fast forward, as Mapi Leon and Engen can't run or defend anymore. Hasegawa hasn't done anything special in this game either, not sure how she outplayed Bonmati who does x2 from what Hasegawa does on a regular basis.
No offence was taken. You've got your opinion, I've got mine.... though last time I checked my grip on reality was rather firm. My comment was about things that actually happend on the pitch and how I saw them. I'm not really into fantasy football of "what could've been's" nor guessing who would've said what... or not. Why I can agree to some point with the fact that Barca had a good spell of control in 2nd half when they were chasing the score... I don't agree they outplayed City as in whole of the game. Having overall more possesion without end product doesn't count in my book as outplaying the opponents. It was rather other way around as City well tailored tactics and intensity shown by their whole team made several Barca schemes useless. Best prove of it comes from the sheer number of shuffles and tinkering made by Barca coach in players positions and tactical setup throught the game. Bonmati is a great player, in my opinion one of the best offensive midfielders in the world, who can pirouette between rival players with her eyes closed. Only yesterday it somehow didn't work out for her... nor for couple of her teammates for that matter. Of course she could have had a weaker day yesterday, it's just that in my opinion a lot of that weaker day was due to Hasegawa's DM play. On another topic it's funny how often it happens, when household names suddenly lose much of their "glow" when Hasegawa plays against them - that all TV pundits/commentators quickly start speaking about her as the most underrated player in whole woso.
Obviously I agree with you. But Keating has a lot of support amongst Man City fans, and some don't understand why she has apparently been totally supplanted by Yamashita. The thing that impresses me about Ayaka's play is that she learns quickly and improves game upon game. Her distribution was sometimes poor in the Arsenal game: she clearly worked on that and it was much better in the next game. This time vs Barcelona, her main difficulties came from dealing with poor back-passes from her own teammates (first from Miedema then Greenwood); yes, she could have done better with them, and going forward I think she will. The style of City's football is that they play out from the back, so the ball will be at the keeper's feet a lot. Mistakes sometimes happen in that situation and they will be more obvious than when the keeper just kicks it upfield.
Asato Miyagawa played whole match and assisted a goal for Hammarby against St. Polten in their UWCL match. Didn't follow her, what a brilliant passer she is!

Not sure what "fantasy" you referring to. Laia Alexandri blocked two shots going into empty net, a brilliant piece of defending. Barca's defenders were horrible on the day and blocked nothing the whole game. But Barca created as many chances as City did if not more. So it's not fantasy, it's one team that converted their chances better, 2 comical goals, Barca style, that was the difference. Bonmati also created nothing against horrible Colombia, Brazil, and Germany during the Olympics. Japan looked quite horrible as well and Hasegawa offered not much. The difference is, that we saw what Bonmati could do by herself, changing games, but unfortunately, Hasegawa plays more and more just as a holding midfielder and she can't take the ball and walk it into the opponents net as Bonmati does on a regular basis. This is most noticeable during the Nadeshiko NT games when things go bad and nobody on the team can do anything about it. Probably Fujino is the best bet in such games but she is not that confident yet to make such plays in the most important moments. By the way, you would be shocked, but this Man City team has way higher wages as well, so when people say that "small" City beats so-called "giants" it's actually a big compliment to this great Barcelona team, who managed to create that "myth" that works on opponents as a "boogeyman". lol Same with Spain = ) At least one positive thing about this game for Barca. Laia Alexandri looks like one of the best CB's in the world right now and she will be coming to Barca "for free" this summer, that should help.
This is what bothers me a lot about the current state of the NT. No one has that ability to be the "clutch" player anymore except for Hasegawa, but she plays too deep to influence the attacks of the team on her own. Someone like Iwabuchi was able to do that even when the team and herself were having a bad day, but we don't have any offensive players like that in the group of players Ikeda was trusting. As you said, Fujino could be one in the future, as well as Tanikawa (if she doesn't get the same treatment as Hasegawa by playing in front of the defense). That's why now that we're starting a new cycle, I'm not against seeing some players who don't play all that well recently (like Ueki or Hayashi) being replaced by players that can make a difference in tough games, even if they're inconsistent.

Meanwhile Little Nadeshiko lost sparring game with Spain 1-3. Momo Sato opened the score in 53rd min but Alba Cerrato equalized 2 minutes later. Cerrato then scored 2 more golas in 76th and 79th minute.
