Congratulians to the heroic Europe-based fans for waking up at 3:00 am to watch the game : I had to work today and I couldn't afford any of that (not sure if I'd had the force anyway! ). @Kakeru, you don't get any special praise, because the time zone was way easier for you! I'd gladly watch the (many) goals: can anyone direct me to an highlights video?
The highlights should be available on the FIFA YouTube page in a few hours at best. It's already available on the FIFA webpage.
Beautiful goals, but New Zealand's defending looked so poor that I don't think this score says much about the rest of the tournament.
The point is how much we play accurately when they are pressed hard and the speed of DFs would be a key when we have some counter attacks. Shiragaki seems to be the best of the four CBs on that point.
Like the man said..."it's been a joy to watch these Japanese girls play tonight" Not a 'goalmouth scramble' in sight (Shame it was 2.00am ko)
So... you're saying J1 club Shonan Bellmare send their U-15 girls section that I didn't know even existed to international tourney last year. (Manaaki Invitational)
WE League is now 6th league in the world in terms of transfer fees received. Transfer fees of 19 Japanese players made in total 427k USD International transffer snap-shot (mid year 2024) - article

Re: Japanese players and PKs I am not sure if I've read the scoresheet correctly, but is it true that, in this week's We League Cup's matchday, two PKs were given and no-one was converted? If yes, who were the players missing their PKs? It's becoming quite worrying, in my eyes. Also, can someone better clarify this season's format for me? I get that we have 2 groups with 4 teams and 1 group with just 3 teams because Urawa Red Ladies will be busy with AFC's Champion's League; I also read that this year (finally!) semi-finals will be back, so 4 teams will qualify for it. Since there are just 3 groups but 4 teams have to advance, I suppose the best 2nd-placed team will do? But will it be the best 2nd-placed team of any group or only of the ones with 4 teams? Also: I see that the final will take place on the 29th of December: isn't that usually Empress' Cup territory? Does it mean that Empress' Cup will start much later, this season?
Can only tell you the dates. October 6th -> 12th - AFC Champions League Group Stage December 8th - WE League Cup Semi-finals December 14th -> 15th - Empress' Cup 5th round (WE League teams enter) December 22nd - Empress' Cup Quarterfinals December 29th - WE League Cup Final January 18th - Empress' Cup Semi-finals January 25th - Empress' Cup Final March 22nd -> 23rd - AFC Champions League Quarterfinals May 21st -> 24th - AFC Champions League Semis and Final So Urawa have the possibility to win 2 cup finals having played just 6 games, Dec 29th and Jan 25th.
Remina Chiba very short stint in UWCL has come to an abrupt end as Frankfurt lost with Sporting Lisbon today (well... technically she will get one more chance to play in 3rd place match of this UWCL mini-tourney but its for ranking points only). Chiba was sub in 77th min. Outside her first touch just after entering the pitch when she immiediately created goal scoring action wasted by quite selfish play by a teammate, she made rather little impact - mostly because tired Eitnracht players were unable to get the ball to her (Eintracht coach made only 2 subs - defender for defender around 60min mark and then Chiba in 77th min) Her transfer to Frankfurt is starting to look like a bad move and I'm not talkin about current UWCL fiasco but rather about little love from the coach as Chiba after 9 months with the club is still considered sub only with far more medicore players getting to play ahead of her in starting XI.
Speranza coach change https://www.speranzafc.jp/news/23464/ Thank you for your continued warm support for Speranza Osaka. We are pleased to announce that Shinobu Ohno, current head coach of the Speranza Osaka top team, has been appointed general manager of Speranza Osaka, and that Kaori Taneda, current head of development and academy director, has been appointed head coach of the Speranza Osaka top team.
Sugita (Albirex) and Kamogawa (Jef) missed their PKs. Sugita's shot (deflected?) was on the post, Kamogawa's shot was saved by the GK.
I announce that, although it's scheduled earlier, once again I won't stay up to watch Japan's match at the U-20 WWC (it starts at midnight in my time-zone and I've got too many work committments tomorrow to afford staying up until almost 2:00 am). I'll gladly watch some highlights tomorrow.
GHA coach looks like he has just stepped out of a 1974 disco! Picture has just changed to PRK v CRC..
