Finally had the time to watch highlights: nice goals in the 2nd Half. :coffee:

Mina Tanaka was indeed as wasteful as she uses to be: the score could have been better without all of her misses. :x3:

Also worried about the Kitagawa's situation: let's hope she recovers in time.

Even though the opening Olympic match is at midnight Japan time, it seems NHK will be broadcasting it live. In the UK, one of the BBC channels will show it (not confirmed yet which one); in some other European countries Discovery+ will stream it. Undoubtedly there will be others.

The group stage will be played from 6 to 12 October 2024. Teams in each group play one another in a centralised single round-robin format in each group. The top two finishers in each group, together with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout stage.

(hosts) - Wuhan Jiangda (A), College of Asian Scholars (B), Ho Chi Minh City (C)

It's a shame, Urawa have no chance of meeting Young Elephants FC with all of their new Japanese signings! :)

By the way, How likely do you think it is that the Laotian team's market-campaign had indeed this new continental competition in mind? They needed something more to compete on the international stage and not just on the domestic scene.

    Very likely.
It's all about money. Even for professional league team like Urawa earning 1,4 million $ (for winning AWCL) is a very nice bounus (I would estimate it's around 1/3 maybe 1/4 of Urawa's total budget). Teams from amateur or semi-pro leagues have much less money (around 400k - 800k $ on average) thus earning 200k or 300k for participating in Group Stage is nothing to sneez at for them.
AWCL prize purse is good incentive to invest in woso.

Rion Ishikawa's highlights. Nice to see defender's hard work compilation.

Was 1-1 in the closed-door training match against Colombia, apparently, but that's all I know.

In a game vs Colombia, the only really relevant piece of info is if anyone was injured. :coffee:

Heh, true... I believe however that a week before Olympics start players on both ends of the pitch were rather behaving themselves - not risikng any last minute injury.

My source tells me Nadeshiko scored first in 2nd half but Colombia equalized soon after.

If I remember correctly, a closed door friendly before the WWC between Ireland and Colombia was cancelled mid game due to rough play. Hence, I don’t think this logic applies to Colombia.

Yuria Sasaki's Boca Juniors won Aperatura Championship in Argentina and thus qualified for Copa Libertadores. Ichika Egashira's River Plate (currently 3rd in table - equal on points with 2nd Racing Club) will finish second or third - depending on the result of todays away game with Racing.

3 days to the first matches. Good news is Tanikawa looks healthy.

Waiting for the refs appointments... preferably no Karboubi (MAR), Beida (MTN), Martinez (HON) or Eskas (NOR) ... please :p

What happened to the star over the crest? They took group picture and played training match without it. :cautious:
