Hi guys, frankly this is not the thread or the place to start these discussions again because from experience, it will completely derail the thread. Any further reply on the subjected will be removed, insistence will result in a warn. Thanks for understanding.
So happy to see Sano (both) and Watanabe in squad. Squad for June WCQs GK: Suzuki.Z, Osako, Tani DF: Nagatomo, Watanabe, Machida, Seko, Sekine, Takai, Suzuki.J (Shonan) MF/FW: Ohashi, Machino, Hosoya, Nakamura.K, Morishita, Kubo, Kamada, Endo, Fujita, SANO Kaishu, SANO Kodai, Hirakawa, Suzuki.Y, Mito, Kumasaka (Kashiwa), Tawaratsumida (Tokyo) and Sato Ryunosuke (Okayama)
Tawaratsumida there is excellent. Miss Maikuma, IMO he looked way better than Sugawara in the Asian Cup, took over the starting position from him there, hasn't been called up since? Why? Ok, Moriyasu has completely given up on the 4 man defence, still, if you keep calling Sugawara, why not Maikuma here? Anything happened there? For the rest, let's see, actually some of the call ups would have been probably better for the EAFF in July, Tawaratsumida included (he is good, but well, with Mitoma+Nakamura it's not like Japan is desperate for that position). Would have preferred more of a mix, veterans-new guys. Also earlier, not just now, Japan was going to qualify anyway. They all have to get used to each other as well.
Hoped that FC Tokyo's Kanta Doi would be there, he has been a regular starter as a CB for FC Tokyo this season thus far despite his age. Wow Ryunosuke Sato, he is starting to resemble Takefusa Kubo's trajectory 5 -7 years ago. Wish that he will be close to Kubo's level when he is of the same age, not sure why FC Tokyo sent him on loan. Could have used him for this season when the team is lacking a spark of creativity.
Have two brothers ever played on the same Japanese National Team before for a match? Kodai and Kaishu Sano will put on the jersey this Thursday vs Australia. Speaking of Sato vs Kubo, Sato may turn out to be a great player on the level of Kubo but their trajectory is quite different. Kubo is Japan's true prodigy. An MVP at the Barcelona Academy at 8 and 9 years old. In the J League scoring goals at 15, he was chosen for the U20 team at 15. Ryunosuke can become a great player but would not compare his achievements with Kubo's at this point in time.
True at the end,Kubo is a starter in La Liga Ryunosuke Sato is nowhere near that level yet. I hope he can make a move to Bundesliga, etc. next year though.
What a boring game and Australia with the 0-1 in the 90th minute....my day is off, so pissed. What is the point in bringing second division players into the team..again ? Moriyasu absolutely has no gameplan, no game philosophy. He has decent success with Japan, yeah but often this team is playing a dead style and I hate that. Of course I am a little over emotional but between those great games, Japan definitely play, they are to many zombie games. I hate it, how he stands every game totaly emotionales at the line, with his pencil and paper in his hand.
it was a very well-taken winning goal: AUSTRALIA ON BRINK OF WORLD CUP SPOT! | Australia - Japan | Highlights #AsianQualifiers - Road To 26 - YouTube
Missed the match, checked the stats: 6 vs 12 shoots on target 31% vs 69% ball possession 1 vs 8 corner kicks This seems a 2022 Costa Rica like match. Even subs as starters? Definitely Moriyasu in his typical brain fart day.
I like the idea to test and rest many players. For example very smart with Machida, Watanabe and Sekine as CBS, or Sano in the CDM. Japan were rock solid defensly but totaly clueless with no idea or creativity in the offense + Tani as a GK played 2-3 horrible misspasses. The defense is great, I would say almost no matter who is playing but apart from that there is absolutey no game plan. Japan were way better overall then Australia, which also have no visible gameplan but Japan couldn't do anything with that. Japan has maybe 3 "good" chances, 1 from Kubo at the second half and 1 from Hirakawa in the first half and 1 from Suzuki. That's all...it's like Moriyasu force them to do nothing. Horrible link up play, slow in decisions, misspasses in a row, no risk, nothing. Kamada for example was the player on the pitch which lose the most duells. He was like a 2 year old child, lose the ball instantly. That couldn't be all about the players it's more about Moriyasus tactics and energy. Sure no worries that they lose to Australia with a totaly new team + they were already qualified. But lose against a Australia which needed this win extremely for a safe WC and nonetheless played that poor, was a pain to watch. Cause Japan could have won that game even with a D/F Team today. Australia was begging to lose, and somehow they managed to win that one at the end. Sure they had the gameplan to bunker and manage to draw or score somehow. That was a success but you could clearly see today, Australia was totally clueless. That was more luck and poorness from the enemy. Don't get me wrong Japan was far far from being good but the point is, I hate those zombiespirit.
I understand how you feel friend. That's why i keep telling people not to trust Moriyasu and put all your energy and passion into his team. More likely than not, he will under deliver than accomplish what this team can achieve. Enjoy the good moments, but don't get too invested
I don't. Not this way. That's an EAAF Cup squad. So could have waited with this for July really. How many will make the 26 WC squad in a year? He should have started testing players earlier. And that means 1-2, max 3 per game. But constantly. Top team vs Saudi Arabia, Australia (until qualification is secured) Not basically the same team every game, the same players called, and then all out experimenting now. Defense, yes, there yes, he's forced to as well, so of course. Machida is basically no. 4 at this point, but seeing how Tomiyasu and Ito are going, he might end up being no. 2 behind Itakura. There yes, no problem with what he did, big chances he needs to find the third starter and the substitutes there. The rest? Again, how many will even make the WC squad? Kamada. (presumably) Fujita/Sano with chances. Why not give Hatate and Furuhashi a chance? Those guys that get called, but end up not playing much. Hatate has been called up quite regularly for the past year, almost no playing time. Logically he should have been starting in at least one of those 2 games. Furuhashi similar, finally managed to get some call ups lately, why not here. Give him those 2 games to convince Moriyasu. But no. both probably now discarded for good? Or will they get called again to sit on the bench later this year? Pointless. Let Nakamura start too. As much as I like Tawaratsumida, he is not really needed at this point. Mitoma+Nakamura, fix for 26. If they get injured? EAAF, that's where you call Tawaratsumida and all the other guys. At least the JLeague guys, those abroad ok, call them here, no release for EAAF I guess. This should be something for guys in the balance for the WC 26. Some of the call ups of course fit that. Most don't. Also should have tried the good old 4 man defense again. The big drawback of the 3 man defense is that somebody like Mitoma then is forced to do much more defensive work than an offensive threat like him really should. Edit: Didn't see the game, so no idea how they played
Okay 100% agree @ Kanarienvogel. I mean more I like that Moriyasu at least try so many new players at all, cause normaly he don't change anything but yeah those changes were to many at a wrong point. But around 5-8 players gave a real chance for the WC. A Machida, Sano etc. for example.
I agree with what you’ve said about Moriyasu’s stubborn nature calling up the same players over and over again and suddenly changing everything last minute we’ve qualified but Hatate was ruled out with injury from the Scottish Cup Final last month and Furuhashi has played six games without scoring since moving to Rennes. Good: Machida, Sano and Hirakawa were solid. Sekine, Watanabe and Suzuki were okay. Bad: Ohashi was hopeless up front. Tawaratsumida needs an end product, very predictable. Tani and Seko should never be called up again. They looked like training mode… unfortunately Moriyasu will keep picking them so I don’t blame their half hearted effort. Shiogai should’ve been called up. Solid season straight out of University and not afraid to throw his body around against bigger Dutch CB’s. More potential than Ohashi. Maikuma, Shuto Nakano, Hayato Araki, Naomichi Ueda, Tomoki Hayakawa… why were they not picked?!
By the way, Machida is injured and will send home.....what the hell is happening god with injuries. Especially with CBS.
Ok, Hatate injured, that explains that. Furuhashi? IMO doesn't matter that almost didn't play in the last months, give him his chance here. He never got a proper one, even though he had been delivering constantly until his move to Rennes.
On a sidenote, why didn't they have names on the back of their jerseys? This was not a friendly game but a World Cup qualifier.
Moriyasu unfortunately never rated Furuhashi. Whenever he played, Moriyasu made sure the system never accommodated for him. He could score 30+ goals in the Premier League and still get a five minute cameo for JNT. Sad story. Similar to Tsuyoshi Watanabe… only a huge defensive injury crisis got him a call up despite being absolutely solid (better than Seko and Taniguchi at least).
