Almost forgot that Roberto Mancini is now coaching Saudi Arabia. Beating any of his teams is a double kind of satisfactory.
Even w/o a proper finisher JNT is too much for the whole AFC. Not so many years ago arab teams were a pain in the ass everytime we faced them. And this makes even more disappointing that we miss the Asian Cup trophy since 13 years. Only Moriyasu can keep turning JNT off and miss Asian Cup for ever and ever.
Good solid game without brilliance but nontheless a game which was played quite cool by Japan. They use their chances ice cold, defense was solid and Suzuki made 2-3 good saves. What do you want more?
It’s been a smooth, enjoyable ride so far. Frankly, i was afraid of a typical Suzuki brain fart but, thankfully, it didn’t happen and he actually had a good match . Oh and thank God the referee didn’t fall for the usual saudi and middle east teams’ antics aka grassrolling, faking injuries and whining at every chance. Ugh!
Well, at some point Suzuki did let a corner ball cross through the whole surface by missing a catch, leaving the goal completely empty. I was screaming behind my tv. For those looking to watch the games, type r o j a d i r e c t a, attached, in google
JFA needs to call up Anrie Chase as soon as possible. US fans have been stalking him. USMNT fans flood Anrie Chase’s newest instagram post. If you haven’t yet, go put some American Flags!#USMNT pic.twitter.com/mAoazcMIvd— Anrie Chase Propaganda (@Ping_WasTaken) October 9, 2024
Dont think there is any chance, that he want to play for USA, he is born and raised in Japan and played for the youth teams.
Yeah very good aggressive pressing from Japan and here and there some good passing/attacking phases. On the other side they making to less out of their advantage, especially with the last pass. But overall its the right way. They need a goal to open the game more I think. Doan is a little wasted on that position behind Kubo, cause he cant realy cut from the right into the left like Robben. Thats Doans strenghts and I would say he should replaced by Ito and maybe Minamino for Kamada. By the way Hasebe is sitting on the bench as the co-coach.
FT 1-1. Although Japan worked their way to get a draw, this still feels like 2 massive points lost because, seriously, that Australian team is not that good. We should have buried them and put ourselves to safety at the very top of the group.
Sheesh! Should've won the match, but the team lacked clinical finishing, as usual, against bunkering teams. Oh well, a draw is better than a loss. I'm still optimistic of Japan's chances in finishing at the top of this group.
Its the same old ghost hunting this team. Dominating creating chances, but cant score against a little better opponent.
Yeah youre all right but you can play or lose some games. It was an okay game. But sure Australia didnt manage a single shot in goal, surely Japan has to win that but nevermind. Its not that Australia is that worse, and against bunkering teams its always hard. But Japan needs a Plan B for those games. Next game.
Doan is so frustrating to watch. Seems to get the ball stuck under his feet at the important moments.
Australia's defense stood well, nothing to say. Japan didn't manage to actually create all that many real chances. It wasn't the finishing, it was that they often just not managed to get to that stage. For the WC qualification (which IMO wasn't in doubt even before the first game was played) it's still a result that creates 0 problems, 5 points advantage to third place. They can and will cruise through the rest. Probably in November Moriyasu should shake things up a bit, now he has basically started the same team 4 times in a row, rotation Kamada/Kubo, that's it. Endo out today doesn't count. Fully ok vs Saudi Arabia and Australia of course (even if with Endo out, might have tried Hatate instead of Tanaka) No, don't go back to the one game the starters, the next the reserves like he did 4 years ago basically, but shake it up a bit, Hatate for Morita, start Ogawa, start Nakamura and have Mitoma play further up. Keep the backbone of the team, but change 2-3 players per game.
The Doan Problem is more his position in the JNT. He is one of the most in form japanese player abroad and played almost always sick for Freiburg. He is without a doubt on of the best wingers of the Bundesliga which is shown in the Bundesliga rankings year by year, where he is normaly in the top 5. He need to cut from the ride into the left like Robben. But with Kubo instead of him, he cant do anything. Of course despite that he lose the ball or missplace a pace today. Moriyasu schould fix that overall use of his players a little.
Since Japan had a phenomenal run lately, this result is disappointing for Samurai Blue fans. I didn't watch the match, but from the stats, it seems comical that it end in a 1-1 draw, with each scoring an own goal. Also that Australia had more shots total than a prolific Japan as of late, Socceroo fans may take joy in this and exposed Japan weakness. I hope the Samurai Blue Japan will learn from this, maybe Japan winning ways and goals had them complacent, but at least they didn't lose and can comeback for the remaining matches.
What do you mean? Japan outshot Australia 12-1. Australia had 0 shots on goal. Bunkering will work against almost any team so not really a Japan thing. Btw, the Aussies only got to the stadium 49 minutes before kickoff due to traffic. Both Aussie and Japan officials tried to get the kickoff delayed but AFC refused.
