I know some of you will doubt me on this but I created this norm of butchering the guys name after many months of hard work (yeah, right.) Skljgjdyk messed up early & often so in my first post about his play I refused to look up his spelling. Same thing 2nd time I mentioned him, same 3rd and so on. If he had just been unskilled I might have let it go but watching him stand around and do nothing was too much for my frustrated mind to handle. At that point I decided to never spell his name right until he truly earned it. So this goes on for months, with a couple of posters sporadically joining in from time to time. But finally it started growing slowly. And at some magical point it finally reached critical mass, everyone started doing it and it became a de facto standard, what with peer pressure and all. I remember one of the last holdouts being one of our more dignified posters - can't remember who - maybe @barroldinho, maybe @GalaxyKoa or maybe @Lazy Assed Assassin (remember he used to be a respected member named @dashiel before he went off the deep end!). Anyway when this proper poster joined in I felt I finally was somebody! (Still not sure I ever got Berks to buy in though. If not, it's one of my biggest regrets in life. ) Well since I have little to crow about in this life I have to claim this obviously massive, massive crowning achievement! My hope is when I'm facing the eternal afterlife one of the gatekeepers (not sure which) will say "Hey, isn't that the guy who continuously messed with Skjoilkj on that board nobody reads! You know Skjijkk - the central "defender" (hahaha) who cost the Galaxy a mil/yr to stand on the field and watch goals get scored? Well it ain't much but come on through this here gate Skydog - you are heading home! Btw - your roommate Alvaro Pires is waiting for you - and man does he have a lot to say!"
Well done, sir. But I do need to point out that Lazy Assed was the artist formerly known as Dashiel. Profiled was our equally distinguished former moderator.
Ummm.... I was testing you? Plus it said Dashiel the whole time?* * (Shhh.... Don’t say anything- I’ll Venmo you for not publishing my edits.)
Greatest name ever made funnier because of the sheer massiveness of the number of people that know exactly who you are talking about. Hahahahhaha
In my humble opinion,...The conception of that name ranks as one of the greatest, "F THAT GUY!!" moments of all time witnessed on this board! That name joins the ranks of other legendary player name creation moments, with honorable mentions like,..."Beerholder", "Gonzilla", "Magic Mike" and "Landycakes".
His Turkish team is near the bottom of their table and if things continue they are going down. They supposedly have an option to buy his contract, but who knows if they will exercise their option if they are relegated. If they don't, then the question becomes does Flamengo want him back? Per Transfermakrt, he is under contract to them until Dec of 22. I can't imagine the Galaxy paying anything close to his supposed market value of €1.30m as this would make him a DP. Personally, I would much rather have someone like Rani Khedira from FC Augsburg who will be out of contract in June of 2021. Khedira is the same age but is ranked much higher as a DMID. If he could be signed to a TAM contract, that would be great.
Wasn't yesterday the "Pavon appears in court or gives testimony" date? Surprised no update/press on that.
He actually showed up with attorneys a day early on Monday. He didn't declare anything himself, just went through the rigamarole of showing up. He still cannot leave the country except with permission from the court. Reports being made that his accuser has submitted proof in the form of chats, videos and cell phone voice recordings and there is talk some people who were in attendance at the welcome-home party will also testify as to what they saw. Details about the so called party are also coming out that make it seem the "party" was more like an orgy of sorts. BOTG T-24 days
Vanney did mention getting a couple more signings over the “finishing line.”He seems to be indicating that a couple more are close. #LAGalaxy #MLS— Corner Of The Galaxy (@GalaxyPodcast) March 26, 2021
@EmilianoRaddi pic.twitter.com/dipdl2jVpD— LaMitadMas1 Boca Juniors (@lamitadmas1) March 26, 2021 Speaking of which, apparently back in training at Boca and he removed reference to LA Galaxy from this IG account.
Greg Vanney views the Galaxy as a work with progress – Orange County Register (ocregister.com) “What I have quickly realized is we have a lot of good young soccer players, who I think are fitting pretty seamlessly into our style of play,” Vanney said. “I think it suits them, I think they’re technically suited into what we’re trying to do, I think it feels natural to them. “Now, they’re starting to understand the nuances and why on the field they should what they’re doing and what their solutions are. Adam Saldana has been very solid in that defensive midfield position, Johnny (Perez) has had some great moments on the attacking side, Cameron Dunbar has had some great moments, our young center backs has had some great exposure over these games in Jalen (Neal) and Marcus (Ferkranus). “They’ve done really well. They’ve managed some tough opponents and tough situations and have also have done in a style and a way that we want to do it. They’re improving every day and they’re going to play a role in this team’s season and that’s exciting for them and for the club to have young guys who are ready to give us something.”
Sounds like the deal to acquire Pavon from Boca is off, since Boca is going to wait till the summer transfer window to move Pavon. I don't believe this bolds well the Galaxy. Looks like Boca has moved on from the Galaxy. At this time the Galaxy may as well wait for the summer transfer window to find their third DP.
3 Goals in 3 preseason games, I can say I’m warming up for the big show, and definitely that’s the ultimate Goal 🏆 ❤️— Augustine Williams (@augiwilliams) March 27, 2021 I like this kid. and looks like we’ve (or at least he) scored some goals in the secret preseason games.
So our best striker...doesn't even have a first team contract. And without Pavon we desperately need a difference-maker. There are concerns.
Meanwhile, we still wait on the Galaxy's highest paid striker to prove that his signing was not a colossal blunder. As Skydog has stated, the Galaxy need to get the next DP signing right regardless of when it occurs.
This is why I have been saying for a long time that this case needs to be fully and fairly adjudicated before the Galaxy sign him.
I think the Galaxy agree with you. I'm almost certain the only thing holding us back from bringing him back in is this legal mess and we're in a wait and see mode on that.
Considering we’re probably waiting til the summer to spend big on a DP, it’s kind of a no lose situation for us. If Pavon is cleared of all charges, we sign a high end DP. If Pavon is found guilty, we move on and find another high end DP. This is obviously assuming the FO is still working on finding an alternative to Pavon during this waiting period. I think Pavon is the best option. He’d be a top 3 player in the league, and I’m not sure he’s going to have too much European interest, so we’d be getting a 25/26 year old winger who would be our best player for 5+ years. Think that’s a pretty solid investment.
That’d be interesting and we’d have to play either some sort of line up with a back 5 or a narrow midfield diamond. If/when he’s healthy he’d be one of the best players the league has ever seen. That’s a big IF though. My biggest concern about Aguero would be his injury history. He’s on the wrong side of 30, is injured quite often. I think it says a lot that Manchester City is willing to let him see out his contract this year. I don’t know a lot about Manchester City, but I imagine he’s regarded as their best ever player.
