With Oita Trinita contesting the J2/J3 promotion/relegation playoff, how tempting would it be for them to rest their best players against Jubilo Iwata tonight?
So Jubilo Iwata back to J1 after a dramatic injury-time winner from Yuki Kobayashi sees them leapfrogging Avispa Fukuoka to the 2nd place. While Fukuoka finished the season 3rd after being equal in points with Iwata, with only goal-difference to separate them.
I think J2 shall apply the same promotion play-off system in Italian Serie-B. I mean if the 3rd place team is ahead of 4th place team by more than 9 points, they will be granted automatic promotion. In this season Avispa Fukuoka is 15 points ahead of 4th place team Cerezo Osaka, 17 ahead of 5th place Ehime and 22 ahead of 6th place Nagasaki, I see it unfair to make them compete against teams with such a big gap in points between them, especially after a long and exhausting season.

This year there were three teams way above the rest and all of them deserve promotion. If there is justice in this world, Avispa should break the 3rd-place curse and win the playoffs.
Well, all of the foreigners that Jubilo brought this season were good hits and contributed nicely to the promotion.
So It will be Avispa vs Cerezo in the play-offs final. Avispa won 1-0 against their neighbours V-Varen Nagasaki. While a goalless draw against Ehime FC (Manabu Saito's former team) was enough for Cerezo to advance to the final. If I'm not wrong I think this is the first time the 3rd and 4th placed teams managed to make it to the final since the introduction of the play-offs system in J2. I hope Avispa will manage to make it to J1 as I see a lot of potentials in this team, more than the other two newly-promoted Omiya and Iwata, and I hope good luck for both Ehime and Nagasaki.
My bad! It is the second time after the 2013 season when Kyoto (3rd) lost against Tokushima (4th) in the final.
Big advantage for Cerezo though as the 1-leg match will be played at Nagai Stadium. But honestly, the way Cerezo have been playing the last 2-3 months doesnt scare anyone, and Avispa in their current form should be a slight favorite despite them playing literally away. I will probably travel over to Osaka to see the game.
Almost forgot him this year. Only few games played for Chiba. Was more present last year in Mito. OFFICIAL | JEF Chiba announced their former Japanese international Takayuki Suzuki retired his player's career. #jtransfer— yosuke (@maimaidenden) December 2, 2015
