I'm not sure on his injury, but Nishikawa? I mean... they called up Tsuzuki
No offense to Sanga, but I'd prefer to see Morishige than Mizumoto too.
Ogawa, Suganuma, Taniguchi have all scored from midfield more than a good number of those forwards.

See Takagi in Japan NT is a real joke that only japanese can does :D. He is good at Shimizu but never enough to play for Japan NT and even less at a high international level (Understand that by play against Asian countries is not by a good levels, it's often the conditions for plays which are more complicated than the play).
It's good to see another once Terada, he made a great match against Qatar and i hope to see him soon. Personaly, i don't like Tulio so much, of course, he is a very good player but I have the impression that it took a "little melon" (i don't know if you say like that in english :D), always he tries to do things that he can not do (For exemple, the overhead kick against Uzbekistan... ). He must don't forget that he plays as defender and his attempts are sometimes dangerous for the NT.
Good to see Mizumoto with the A, it will be interresting to see how he will behave now. In Japan youth teams, he always played like a libero and especially as a leader-ship.
Finally, bad to don't see Morishige. In my opinion, he is one of the best future superstars in Japan, he is just an amazing player, especially when you knows that he is only 21. Probably the best defender in J-League at the moment. Ganbare Masato .

Okada totaly changed the defence (ok, not nakazawa) into a new fresh way.

    Uchida - 20
    Morishige - 21
    Mizumoto - 23
    Nagatomo - 22

I really like that. It's more movements in the defence now, because Uchida and Nagatomo are agressive attacking sidebacks and so do Morishige in the center. Mizumoto do also great after his move to Sanga and don't rot on the bench at Gamba.
I think the defence is the part with the most talent now, more as the midfield for me.

Morishige wasn't a central defender at first right? But at the Toulon tournament he fkcing rocked at that position.

Yes, at the start of his career, he played as defensive midfielder (for Oita and for Japan U20 in Toulon and the WC) but he finally down as central defender and he really became awesome at this position. He plays sometimes as Mdf, as against Ivory Coast in Toulon, he played well with a good goal.
Anywhere he plays, Masato is ********in awesome.

Am I reading right that it's in Hiroshima?
Finland should be a step up from playing the same old AFC teams.

Will we ever see Nishino as Japan's NT? isn't he the most competent coach in Japan, capable to make his team play a very pleasant, often effective soccer with whichever players he has? If he'd had the choice to pick the goalie and defender he want, I am sure he will entertain us and possibly help Japan to dominate in Asia and perhaps to win some game with extracontinental NTs.
But what's most important, he could give some charm to Japan's game...

Does anyone else believe that Hisato Sato or Yanagisawa deserve another chance? Both of them have had fantastic seasons and are in their prime. Also I can't believe that Igawa (Nagoya) has not been given a chance. He was fantastic this season. Also no Endo? Is he taking a break or something? What about Yasuda?

Okada decided to rest Gamba players because they have played 58 games so far this season.

I believe, BTW here is my comments on this squad in another forums:

The game will be played in Japan, on January 20th.

Japan then will play away against Bahrain, on January 28th.

These Two games will be 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Japan then will play a home friendly against Finland, on February 4th.

And then will meet Australia at Yokohama International Stadium, on February 11th, in a World Cup qualifier.

So Japan will play a game in ever week between (20 January - 11 February 2009).

Thats why Okada called his "B" side for Yemen game! He also didn't call up any players from:

1- teams still in contention for Emporor's cup title (Gamba Osaka, Nagoya Grampus, FC Tokyo, Yokohama Marinos and Kashiwa Reysol).
    2- European Clubs.

That means that each player in this squad will have atleast 1-month of rest before Yemen match.

    ______________________________

This squad will have a 10-day training camp before Yemen match, starting from January 10th 2009.
