Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread I used to have one... but its extremely difficult, if you don't live in the country.
Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread I have a feeling that FC Gifu is changing/updating their logo. When you look at the following page, Roasso has the logo, but Gifu's logo is missing. http://www.jsgoal.jp/special/2007move/j2.html
Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread The Gifu logo I have seen) old one? is very retro. Not meanta s a compliment. Is it ROSSO or Roasso...? Roasso makes no sense in Italian...
Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread The club had to change the name to Roasso due to copyright issue. Gifu's logo looks retro, not because of the design itself, but because of the coloring. If they adjust it to a modern color through a designing company, the issue will be fixed.
Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread Roasso? Geez, that sounds lame... They should have gone by Rossy, just like their colored friends Verdy...
Re: Official 2008 J2 Thread 2008 J. League Division 2 Analysis Since many clubs were going up and down during last three seasons, I compared the J2 participants from the 2004 season. Relegated from J1 (compared to 2004): Sanfrecce Hiroshima (2007) Cerezo Osaka (2006) Stayed in J2 (compared to 2004): Ventforet Kofu (J1 experience in 2006-2007) Avispa Fukuoka (J1 experience in 2006) Yokohama F.C. (J1 experience in 2007) Vegalta Sendai Shonan Belmarre Sagan Tosu Montedio Yamagata Mito HollyHocks New Comers (compared to 2004 season) Tokushima Vortis Thespa Kusatsu Ehime F.C. Roasso Kumamoto F.C. Gifu This will give you some idea that the gap between J1 and J2 are started to get wider. In the early J1 promotion history, clubs that started out with Division 2 back in 1999, had a easier time adjusting to the J1. Examples are FC Tokyo, Oita, Nigata, Kawasaki, and Omiya. Obviously, there are exception, but the point is in a span of 6 years (1999-2004), five "original" J2 clubs are well established in the top flight. Now things are bit different. Clubs that promote to J1 with high hopes are send right back to J2 as they struggle to get out of the relegation zone, a trend since 2005 (Note: Kashiwa and Kobe's performance in 2007 is a different story since they already had experience in J1 for years. Same with Urawa back in 2000). There are few reasons for this phenomenon: 1) Experienced J1 clubs are going back up to J1 easily and inexperienced J2 clubs are failing to survive the J1 relegation battles. This is due to the bottom-dwellers in J2 such as Mito and Tosu cannot keep up with experienced J1 sides, and vise versa for promoted J2 clubs. 2) Expansion of J2. New comers are still figuring out the J. League Division 2. Unlike other clubs which already had 8 years of professional expericence, namely J2, new comers still have not figured out the "professional" aspect of the game. After 8 years of promotion and relegation, when we look at all 33 J clubs as a whole, true football pyramid is finally formed in Japanese football; the top 10 clubs playing in J1 year-in and year-out, the middle 15 clubs are fighting promotion and relegation in respective division, and the bottom 10 clubs are struggling to even join the promotion battle. The quality of J2 will be expected to lowered for next couple of years; about 7 more new clubs will be added in a decade, but once the league stops the expansion and forms the third division, the level of J2 will to rise. Anyway the based on the facts, the top contender for J2 are Hiroshima, Kofu, Sendai, and Osaka. I will do a J1 analysis next week.
Have you guys heard of the four Sendai players? They allegedly got drunk during the camp in Kyushu, damaged cars and got caught. The fans are furious. A rather unbelievable story... (Will they all go to play in Germany, now...?)
Me too. i bet Sato will score 20 goals and more. I'm looking forward for Kubo's comeback and how Kashiwagi do this season. Hiroshima should end in top 3 we will play them on 12th matchday we have to so long
Nah, Hiroshima will miss out on top 3 None of the relegated teams will get back up i think . Cerezo and Vegalta for the top 2, with the 3rd placed team losing the playoff Or atleast I hope Cerezo and Vegalta will end first
I don't see Vegalta going up. They've lost their best players and the recent events show how messed up they are. Much more likely to see Sanfrecce and Cerezo.
No names...? I want to know who the four arseholes are. Miyazaki-shi will repay the car's owner, that's why he's shutting up and Vegalta can come back nest year. Shameful story, uh?
Kofu is (no offense meant) a small club that was relegated without putting up much of a struggle. It was a miracle they survived two years in J1, imho. I sympathize and I hope they'll do well, but I doubt they will bounce back in one season. Are you a Kofu fan? Well, the 4 players were: Shinya Kaneko - the most famous among them, and the only regular last season Yugo Ichiyanagi - the former U-22 NT member that came from Verdy ahead of this season Junya Hosokawa - squad player Shingo Tomita - frequent starter
J2 - Who will go up? My votes will go to Cerezo,Vegalta and Avispa. Cerezo cause I think they look the strongest team in J2 now. They didn't lose any names, and although Furuhashi were headed to both Urawa and Albirex he finally decided to stay after a payrise ( that unfortunately led to Yoshida being offered a pay-cut, which made him leave for Fukuoka). The youngsters is a year older, and I expect magic from Kagawa this season. Morishima need to prove he's worth playing now, as he's been a talent too long. Kakitani, well, he should be receing more playing time this season, but there's a fierce rivalry for the 2 FW spots. Furuhashi is almost certain to be one of the starters, and that leaves Kakitani,Careca,Morishima and Komatsu all fighting for the same spot. Luckily for Kakitani (and Furuhashi) he can play as a winger too. Careca is the biggest signing, and personally Im unsure about him. 2 goals in 14 games for Thespa isn't that good. But Culpi probably have controls over his brazilians. Vegalta, well, they will play without gaijins this year, which most likely will weaken them. Bandai is lost too, but I want to see them in J1 along with Cerezo, so its more a cry of hope. I have a feeling they _might_ surprise though. Avispa have signed Rudan and Talay, who both are too good for J2 on paper. But will they adapt to the japanese style quick enough? Ceccoli didn't. And who's gonna score their goals now? Hayano? But what kept them form finishing higher last season were poor defending, and Rudan and Talay will certaintly strenghthen that part ( Rudan is CB and Talay is DM i think). Sanfrecce look too weakened, Kofu is a big question mark, and Yokohama FC is too old ( but perhaps that will work better in J2 than in J1). I think Shonan can upset many of the bigger teams though, and rate them as a dark horse for 3rd. Back to top
according this pic, Avispa will have no sponsor for next season or will they? Coca-Cola West-Japan is their main-sponsor and isn't Georgia a brand of Coca-Cola?, so why don't still use it?
