I didn't see a forum for this yet.

The 2007 Women's World Cup, AFC-CONCACAF Playoff dates have been set now. Just like the previous playoff for the 2003 WWC, it's JAPAN V MEXICO, only the reverse order.

    ----[IMG]----VS----[IMG]----

Japan will play the 1st match at home, then a week later the 2nd match in Mexico. 3 months to wait now.

The draw resulted in the following match schedule:
    - Saturday, 10 March 2007: Japan v. Mexico
    - Saturday, 17 March 2007: Mexico v. Japan

Having watched the Gold Cup and the Asian Women's Cup, I like Japan's chances.

Mexico doesn't have much of an offense outside of Maribel Dominguez. If Japan can keep her in check, they'll be golden.

Wasn't the Japanese women nats beaten by North Korea the other day on PKs? I believe I heard that was the result but didn't get a chance to see it.

Re: Official Japanese WOMEN'S NT Thread [R]

I really wanted to see that game but wasn't able to get to Tokyo. I've only read the reports, but it seems like Sawa's injury wasn't as bad as it might have been. She is such a fun player to watch, I hope she scored with style as she usually does. Everyone has to retire eventually (except maybe Kristen Lilly) and I hope the nadeshiko can survive that when Sawa decides to call it quits and become a full-time commentator for Ni-Telly.

Since I'm the world's most fanatical American supporter of Iga FC Kunoichi, I'm particularly curious if anyone can update me about local favorite Miyamoto Tomomi. I know she got the call up but can't tell from the match reports if she played well or if at all. Any news?

I'm optamistic about Japan's chances this week in Mexico. They typically have a strong defense and should be able to keep a draw or better.
