I can't really say I disagree given our choking in both the ACC (or should I say the UVA annual whooping...) and NCAA tourneys recently, but...

For a team ranked as the #1 seed in the tournament, very few people are on the Wake bandwagon. I think only two people had Wake as the winner and many had them out early. What gives? No love for the old gold and black? :)

Now, if we lose to VCU, please ignore everything I just wrote.

It's hard to explain but Wake is annually one of the top teams in the country during the regular season but they have never continued it in the postseason. I actually I like their players and the way they try to play but the results have just not been there. When people fill out the brackets they remember little things like WF & UNC usually go out early and UCLA & IU don't. As they say, nothing personal.

I have my College Cup tickets already.

Looks like I will get to see the Terps this year without having to get to Ludwig Field.

Who else? Maybe Indiana, UCSB and Virginia ????

A few quick statistics about the last three rounds.

Five people are eliminated from play due to their not having any remaining teams.

One person has four picks remaining out of their final four picks, and there are a couple with three teams.

12 people have both teams in the final left.

What I am trying to say is that there will be some major ranking changes on monday when I post the updated results from the Quarterfinals.

I should stick to NCAA basketball. At least this pool is free.

Some interesting facts from this weekends results.

16 Pool Entrants in the Pool still have their Champion selection alive.

7 Pool Entrants still have both of their Semifinal Winners and Champion Picks alive.

    Numerista
    GSTerp
    USAClash
    soccertom
    BigRedFootie
    Rhydogg
    Fatman

19 Pool Entrants can still score points.

The maximum point potential remaining is 64 points with the following entrants still having the possibility of scoring 64 more points.

    Numerista
    GSTerp
    USAClash
    soccertom
    BigRedFootie
    Rhydogg
    Fatman

19 Pool Entants cannot score anymore points. Suckas! :D

8 Entrants have selected Indiana to repeat as Champion's.
6 Entrants favor Maryland to be crowned Champion.
2 Entrants have UCSB picked to win the Championship.
0 Entants choose Duke to win.

2 Entrants choose Duke to make the Final Four!
Emile and GSTerp. Well done lads!

7 Entrants failed to pick any Final Four Teams including our last round leader MotMot. :(

Thanks for playing! Come back next year.

We've had some very impressive contestants this year.

Five players have picked three of the Final Four teams and four of them could have both of their picks for the finals make it as well as the champion. The fifth could still have the champion but not the other finalist.

    THREE
    gsterp
    duke - runner-up
    maryland - champs
    Indiana

    BigRedFootie
    UCSB - runner-up
    Maryland
    Indiana - champs

    USAClash
    UCSB - champs
    Maryland - runner-up
    Indiana

    rhydogg
    UCSB - runner-up
    Maryland - champs
    Indiana

    PBO4
    UCSB
    Maryland
    Indiana - champs

Of the contestants, 14 picked two of the Final Four teams correctly and of those, two could still get both of the finalists and the champs. Five more could still get the champion correctly and five more have one of their possible finalists still alive. Only one of the 14 who got two of the semi finalists can't get any more points.

    TWO
    numerista
    UCSB - runner-up
    Indiana - champs

    soccertom

    collegesoccerfan#1
    UCSB - runner-up
    Indiana

    Wendys
    UCSB
    Indiana

Twelve contestants picked one of the Final Four teams and of those, three could still get the national champ right and four more could have one of the finalists. The other five can't get anymore points.

    ONE
    IASocFan
    Indiana - champs

    Damon
    Indiana - champs

    ACCSports
    Maryland - champs

    Jose L. Couso
    Indiana - runner-up

    FAN0011
    Indiana - runner-up

    Carolina
    Maryland - runner-up

    Far Post
    Maryland

    dolphinscoach
    Indiana

    Emile
    Duke

    samtron
    Indiana

I'll let others update the points as they've been doing a good job so far and because there are multiple scoring systems. That, any my math sucks.

If there are ANY mistakes, please let me know and I'll fix them or have a mod do so if I can't edit it any longer.

Those in Red are relegated to the D-III tournament next season while those in blue are relegated to D-II. A few hints, for those in D-III choose Messiah. D-II Lynn, or one of the Seattle schools.:)

I'm impressed by how close this thing is.

21 players separated by nine points or less in Rob's scoring and 17 separated by nine or less in PB's scoring.

We're getting much better at picking these things and I really think some of that has to do with all the information that is shared on fourms like this one and with this one being the primary source.

It's a lot easier to pick when you know a little about the teams and with all the articles on the Internet, games on satelite TV, webcasts, stats available on the web and chat available on the web, you can know so much more about college soccer than in the past, when you relied on Soccer America and your local newspaper, which rarely covered the college game.

I really blew it this year but at least I get to pick teams in the pool next year.

My biggest mistake was in trusting that UVA could get it done this year. They certainly had the players but not the coaching to get them to the championship. I also wasn't convinced that Maryland had the goods to get this far - wrong, again. Plus I liked UCSB's defense but didn't think their offense would carry them to the Final 4 - wrong once again. My only team left is Indiana who could take it all again. It will be fun watching the teams this weekend. It will be a good showcase for college soccer.

Since I have been relegated it would be sweet if I pass you in the standings with my final remaining pick! :D ;)

    GO HOOSIERS! :D

This is coming down to the wire. Sandon and I are tied at 57 with one game of significance - the Maryland / Indiana semi-final. I have Indiana and Sandon has Maryland. Go HOOSIERS!!
