Marinos fans: How's Yoo Sang-chul doing?
Antlers fans: So what's it like without Yanagisawa?

Meanwhile down in J2, Hiroshima are back in J1 while Niigata will have to wait until next week as they lost to Fukuoka.

Also, Nike Japan is planning three matches involving Manchester United, Barcelona and Juventus, who will each play against a Nike-sponsored J-League club, Tokyo Verdy, Kashima Antlers and possibly Urawa Reds, who are currently negotiatin a deal with Nike.
J-League rules do not allow foreign teams to play each other in Japan (except for Toyota Cup).

I really hope Niigata can win promotion. Their support is so good.

Congratulations ! HIROSHIMA returned to J1 ! The ability of Hiroshima was superior to other teams. This is a natural result.
Another team is advantageous to NIIGATA. If NIIGATA wins or draw in the next game(last game), they can be promoted to J1.
I also want Niigata to win. Since I want to see a new team.

    Ranking table
    HIROSHIMA-----86
    NIIGATA-----85
    KASAWAKI-----82

    J1 2nd stage Round 13

Because URAWA, YOKOHAMA.F and F.TOKYO lost, the top of J1 is very crowded. There are 8 teams among 3 points.

    2nd stage Ranking table (Round13)
    1.IWATA-----23
    2.URAWA-----22
    3.ICHIHARA-----22
    4.KASHIMA-----21
    5.F.TOKYO-----20
    6.TOKYO.V-----20
    7.YOKOHAMA.F-----20
    8.G.OSAKA-----20

I want teams other than IWATA, KASHIMA, and YOKOHAMA.F to win.

This is amazing. What a wacky finish.

Here are the matches involving the Top 8 for the two final matchdays.

    Matchday 14
    Sat 11/22
    Sendai vs Yokohama Marinos (7)
Iwata (1) vs Gamba Osaka (8)
    Nagoya vs Urawa (2)
FC Tokyo (5) vs Tokyo Verdy (6)
    Sun 11/23
    Ichihara (3) vs Oita
    Kashima (4) vs Kashiwa

    Matchday 15
    11/29
    Urawa (2) vs Kashima (4)
    Kashiwa vs FC Tokyo (5)
Tokyo Verdy (6) vs Ichihara (3)
Yokohama Marinos (7) vs Iwata (1)
    Gamba Osaka (8) vs Kyoto

    - Jubilo Iwata (1) are in the driver's seat, but they face Gamba (8) and Marinos (7) to finish the season.
    - Urawa (2) can take the stage if they win both and Iwata lose or draw at least one game.
    - Gamba can't lose to Iwata next Saturday if they want to stay in the hunt. If they win or draw, it would set up a crazy final weekend.
    - Marinos can ruin it for everyone if they win their last two, as they will face leaders Iwata on the final matchday.

It's almost as crazy at the bottom, as four teams are fighting to stay out of the two-team relegation zone.

    Code:
    	Team Pts	GD
    13	Vissel Kobe	27	-26
    14	Oita Trinita	24	-10
    -------------------------------------
    15	Vegalta Sendai	23	-21
    16	Kyoto P Sanga	23	-26
And here are the matches involving the Bottom 4 in the two final matchdays:

    Matchday 14
    11/22
    Kyoto vs Kobe
    Sendai vs Yokohama M
    11/23
    Ichihara vs Oita

    Matchday 15
    11/29
    Kobe vs C Osaka
    Oita vs Sendai
    G Osaka vs Kyoto

    - If Kobe lose to Kyoto, they will be in trouble since they will automatically have a worse goal differential. But a win should be enough to keep them in J1.
    - Sendai and Oita have a tough road ahead as they both face title contenders and each other. Whoever wins the final match should avoid the drop.

It's just too close to call right now though. We'll have a better idea next week, especially after Kyto vs Kobe.

    And finally....

Cerezo Osaka striker Yoshito Okubo is suspended for the final two matches after being sent off for the second time in the 2nd Stage. He received his second yellow after telling the referee "You're getting paid, aren't you?"
Okubo has amassed 14 yellow cards, 8 of them for dissent.

The bad news for Okubo is that he will not challenge for the league scoring title (he has 16).
The good news is that Cerezo Osaka are one of only two teams (along with Kashiwa) who aren't playing for either the stage title or relegation.

    Asia Champions League(ACL) & A3 MAZDA championship

The team which participates in '04 ACL was determined at J-league meeting.
The teams are '02 and '03 J-League champion teams.
'02 champion is IWATA. '03 champion will be decided in December.

If IWATA also became J-league champion this year, '03 Emperors CUP champion KYOTO will participate in ACL. However, if KYOTO is demoted to J2, YOKOHAMA will participate in ACL. Because YOKOHAMA is 1st stage champion.

    and
'04 A3 MAZDA championship is held in Shanghai. The team from Japan is '03 J-league champion team.

    okubo!

Okubo receives the severe mark. However, it is a proof accepted to be competent. If he has patience, he will become nicer.

Too bad for Urawa. They crumbled down the stretch, sort of like how Ichihara did in Stage 1.

There's only one game left for the title -

    F. Marinos vs. Jubilo next week at Yokohama Int'l.

If F. Marinos win the game, they win Stage 2 and the season title. If Iwata ties or wins, they win stage 2, and both teams will meet again in the playoffs.

    Noobie,
Actually, if Iwata lose or tie next week, Ichihara can win the stage if they win the next two, and Kashima has an outside chance.

With Saturday's games finished, here's how it looks at the top:
    Code:
       Team GP	Pts	GD
    1 Iwata 14	26	+5
    2 Yokohama	14	23	+5
    3 Urawa 14	22	+10
    4 Nagoya	14	22	+5
    5 Ichihara	13	22	+4
    6 FC Tokyo	14	21	+10
    7 Tokyo V	14	21	+5
    8 Kashima	13	21	+1
    9 G Osaka	14	20	+3

Gamba, Urawa, both Tokyo clubs and Nagoya are out after today's results, so the title race looks like this:
    Code:
       Team GP	Pts	GD
    1 Iwata 14	26	+5
    2 Yokohama	14	23	+5
    5 Ichihara	13	22	+4
    8 Kashima	13	21	+1

    Sunday's matches:
    Kashima vs Kashiwa
    Ichihara vs Oita

    Next Saturday's matches
    Urawa vs Kashima
    Tokyo Verdy vs Ichihara
    Yokohama Marinos vs Iwata

Antlers need a win Sunday to stay alive and Ichihara needs a tie.

Meanwhile, this is how the relegation battle looks:
    Code:
    	Team	GP	Pts	GD
    13	Kobe	29	30	-24
    14	Oita	28	24	-10
    -------------------------------------
    15	Sendai	29	23	-25
    16	Kyoto	29	23	-28
With their win over Kyoto, Kobe are 7 points ahead of Sendai and Kyoto with 1 game left. Oita can also secure safety with a win over Ichihara or Sendai next week.

    Sunday:
    Ichihara vs Sendai
    Next Saturday
    G Osaka vs Kyoto
    Oita vs Sendai

I just returned from Kobe last night. I think the people are too crazy about Honshin Tigers than to think about J-League.

With Matchday 14 almost (there's still Cerezo vs Shimizu, but it won't matter), here's how the table looks.

    Code:
       Team GP	Pts	GS	GD
    1 Iwata 14	26	21	+6
    2 Kashima	14	24	19	+2
    3 Yokohama	14	23	25	+9
    4 Ichihara	14	23	22	+4

Both Kashima and Ichihara got the results needed to stay alive on Sunday, Kashima beating Kashiwa 2-1 and Ichihara drawing with Oita 1-1.

Now, here are the Matchday 15 games that will matter:
    Urawa vs Kashima
    Tokyo Verdy vs Ichihara
    Yokohama Marinos vs Iwata

    And here are the scenarios:
Jubilo Iwata can win the 2nd Stage with:
    - Win against Yokohama Marinos
    - Draw against Marinos, draw/loss by Kashima Antlers
    - Draw against Marinos, Kashima win by less than 5 goals

Kashima Antlers can win the 2nd stage with:
    - Win against Urawa Reds, Marinos win over Jubilo
    - Win against Urawa Reds by 5 or more goals, draw in Marinos vs Jubilo

Yokohama Marinos can win the 2003 J-League Championship with:
    - Win against Jubilo, draw/loss by Antlers and JEF
    - Win against Jubilo, draw/loss by Antlers, win by JEF as long as they don't make up the goal difference

JEF United Ichihara can win the 2nd Stage with:
    - Win against Tokyo Verdy by at least 6 goals, win by Marinos, draw/loss by Kashima

Jubilo control their destiny, but if they lose or draw, it opens things up for Antlers and Marinos.
JEF are realistically out of the race.

    And now, the relegation battle:
    Code:
    	Team	GP	Pts	GS	GD
    14	Oita	29	25	26	-10
    -------------------------------------
    15	Sendai	29	23	30	-25
    16	Kyoto	29	23	27	-28
Oita could have secured their place in J1 with a win over Ichihara, but they won't be safe until next week.
    Here are the scenarios:
    - Oita Trinita can avoid the drop
    a) if they beat Sendai. If they lose, they are going down.
    b) if they draw, because there's no way Kyoto are making up the 18 goal-differential gap.

    - Sendai stay up with a win. No other results matter.

    - Kyoto stay up only if
    a) they beat Gamba, Sendai beat Oita and make up the goal-differential deficit (3).
    b) they beat Gamba by 18 and Sendai draw with Oita.
    (b) is not happening and (a) seems unlikely. So it looks like Kyoto will play in J2 next year while Oita and Sendai will fight to stay in J1.

Meanwhile in J2, Albirex Niigata won promotion to J1 with a 1-0 win over Omiya. Albirex and Sanfrecce Hiroshima will be playing in J1 next year.

    NIIGATA goes to J1.

    Congratulations!! NIIGATA!!
Since NIGATA won today, it was promoted to J1.
And NIGATA became J2 champion since HIROSHIMA lost to KAWASAKI.
Although KAWASAKI also won today, the point was lacking and it remained to J2.

That's awesome. I think Niigata's attendance is one of the best IN THE WORLD! Good thing Hiroshima is coming back, too. Morisaki bros. should be playing in J1.
