Is that how Koln fans are? Going gets a little rough and they drop off the face of the earth?

There were a few more last season. Should we combine the threads here, since we have 2 going? Or should I just close this one?

Not yet. The other thread is about forming a NA supporters club, not a results based thread.

My idea is to see who is alive on this thread and see if they care.

No. Not at all. You can't judge a team's fans just from what you see here.

I can judge these fans by what I see here though.

Sucks for me I can't read or speak German. I must work on that.

True. Guess I was being nitpicky again. You did say "Is that how Koln fans are?"

My reply was just to let you know that no, Koln fans in general are not like that. In fact, I think they are some of the most loyal overall.

    To follow better??

That's what I thought - that Koln fan were pretty loyal and generally very vocal as well. It might be the language barrier on Bigsoccer, and yes, I want to learn German so I can follow the Bundesliga better.

Some lines for you to practice on. :)

Schäfer nach innen geflankt... Kopfball... Abgewehrt. Aus dem Hintergrund müßte Rahn schießen... Rahn schießt! Tor! Tor! Tor! Tor!

Tor für Deutschland! Drei zu zwei führt Deutschland. Halten Sie mich für verrückt, halten Sie mich für übergeschnappt!

    and some others

    „Der Ball ist rund“,

„Der nächste Gegner ist immer der schwerste“,

    „Das Spiel dauert neunzig Minuten“

Some guy Schafer from the flank, saved. Rebound to Rahn. Rahn Shoots! Goal!....

Yeah, isn't that from the World Cup back in 52 or something. I remember it from reading "Tor!'

    The ball is round

The next opponent is the toughest

    The game is 90 minutes.

I'm going to try and work on translating my Kicker Annual over the next few weeks. Plus I want to learn enough German to get by on my next trip, which I hope is next fall.

I want to hit Cologne, Stuttgart and Munich on the next trip.

Good deal. I learned most of mine on the ground over here talking football and chasing women.

But since you can't do that, I'd suggest reading articles and using translation engines to try to turn them into English. After awhile, you will learn what fits and what doesn't.

I can't translate those article we do for BVB on my own, that's how I do it.....

Whoops... I still care, and I'm sure so do the others. Köln fans are said to have too high expectations, but they are also veeeery loyal - the large attendance at our home games says it all.

BTW, Players already signed for next season:
Kevin McKenna, Ümit Özat, Nemanja Vucicevic, Faryd Mondragon

What moves will they need to make to gain promotion? Replacing Gambino is going to be very tough, what else?

I think Köln has done a very decent job signing the mentioned players. Although Wessels is an slightly above average keeper, he is not playing at a constant level. With Mondragon an aged, but also a superb keeper was signed.

Not sure what you mean by "replacing Gambino", because Gambino isn't leaving (as of yet), he is not a keyplayer under the headcoach Daum either. Vucicevic will replace Serhat Akin on the right wing (stated by Meier) which is also the position Gambino used to play.

Köln is still looking for defenders (noveski / mohamad, even Rigobert Song was mentioned), so the next season we will see a completely new defence here. Looks like that young talent Schöneberg is just second choice, as he will be replaced by Ümit Özat on the right back position.

Looking forward to the new season, can't wait for it...

I think decent defenders are what we need most. It was quite painful sometimes watching Mitreski & Co. stumbling over their own feet and playing square in our own box.
I don't even know where Song plays at the moment and how old he is by now, but he was great in the short time he played for us. If there was a chance of signing him, I wouldn't say no...

@MicFW: agreed, it was horrible and 50 goals against us says it all... Fabio Luciano was not playing at his best, but he did not give me heart attacks like the others.

Song is turning 31 in July, obviously the coach Feldkamp is not planning with him anyways and since the club is in a financial crisis it is uncertain that he will stay. Chances are good, but he also got offers from France and England. Would love to see him playing in a FC dress :)

I must have gone mental as for some reason I thought Gambino had scored a few goals and was moving to Leverkusen. I wasn't confusing him with Gekas, maybe it was Helmes but that deal was rescinded right?

    Song: Please no Song.

    Who's the left back now?

How did Johnsen end up doing at left back?

It was Helmes and the league didn't let Bayer get away with their "Bayern-like" action. But the player will still wind up in Leverkusen after this season.
