Got my prospectus yesterday? I really don't know what to do? I'd like to get 2 debentures; One for me and my son, but, I don't want to shell out £7,000 to £10,000 for the privilage of paying another £1,000 a year to sit behind the goalie and get no view?

Living in the States means I'm only around to see a few games a year. It's good that there's a right to assign the season ticket. I know it is illegal to charge a premium for tickets, but, is it also illegal to charge a fee for assigning rights to a season ticket? If that were legit, I would feel a bit more comfortable, with a better short term return on the investment.

I feel guilty as well. We've just had a forum where life long ticket holders are wondering if they can keep paying the increased fees. I hate the fact that ticket prices are pushing out grass roots fans, or stopping grandpa's taking their grandsons. That money talks and potentially allows you to leap frog the 38,000 people on the season ticket waiting list.

Anyone else pondering, Mr Lancaster whats your view?

If Arsenal is worth THAT much to you, than I suppose you should.

On principle, though, I don't think any fans should be blackmailed into paying for a debenture/PSL, etc, on either side of the pond.

From the Arsenal point of view (now I am assuming there is no new stadium on its way), the debenture is a way to gain additional revenue it would otherwise receive at a larger venue.

The risk for supporters, though, is should a new and larger ground be built, debentures will remain in place.

After looking at the article, and based on the interest rate, one perhaps would receive enough money to buy one ticket to five matches at the most - assuming prices never go up.

The payout is in 50 years. Whoopee!

Arsenal might call it a debenture, but it is a PSL.

At least its something. It does pay 2.25% and yes you don't get anything back for 50 years but you do have something of value where a PSL gets nothing.

According to the prospectus the rate is a cumulative compound 2.75%, with a one time early redemption after 25 years (they are also setting up a secondary market to enable you to sell before then)! It's not a whole heck of a lot, but you'd struggle to find a better deposit rate right now, not that interest rates will stay this low for the next 25 years!

If Ashburton Grove happens the capacity will be around 60,000. Currently there are 20,000 season ticket holders, 36,000 people on the waiting list, 21,000 on the ticket reservation scheme and 32,500 people waiting to get on the reservation scheme! There's obviously some duplication, but, it appears that current demand exceeds the capacity of the new Stadium. The debenture includes an early choice of seating at Ashburton Grove.

What we're really talking about is a potential, people on the lists get first call on the debentures, opportunity to jump the line and to pick your spot at Ashburton Grove, with a modest return thrown in. Supply and demand? Perversely, the very fact that Arsenal needs the cash is one of the most inherent risks in the investment. If in 2 years time Arsenal Holdings PLC goes into lidquidation where will the seating rights be then?//
