I didn’t spend much time there. Moved away at 3 years old when my dad was fired from Colonel Crawford as both the football coach and a teacher.

It’s best not to use “fired” and “Colonel Crawford” in the same sentence. He was burned at the stake after all. My good friend from Carey taught me all about Bucky Russ and Crawford county.

Wasn’t it Ola that let a ball go under his foot on the line late?

Something struck me funny this past weekend, so I went and looked at all three new stadium sites that are supposed to open in 2021: Fighting Brocoli FC, FC TidePods and the Crew.

All three have construction cams, and of course, you can look at each team's various renderings in terms of aesthetics, design, etc. One thing that really struck me, and I think we've hinted at it before, but I can't recall if we've ever actually really pointed it out.

What kind of amateur hour is going on down there in Hazmat Arena? At $240 million, it looks like a high school football stadium compared to FC Tidepods $250 million. I guess that's probably appropriate as it will soon be host to all kinds of non soccer events.

But still, FC Cincy's stadium looks sooooo much more modern and advanced. Just compare their stadium from their stadium cam here:
    https://www.westendstadium.com/construction-cam-2

to that of Safety-Kleen Stadium here:
    https://app.truelook.com/?u=as1567715491#tl_live

And you'll note that I'm not even comparing them to ours which is 25% MORE expensive. And let's face it, anyone who knows better, will be comparing them to us.

How could this be? I've read repeatedly that BirthDefect Arena is "setting a new standard" for MLS, that they're building a "world class" ,"state of the art" facility and blah, blah, blah.

It looks like a feed mill. Paint a Purina checkerboard on that dull brown barn siding and people will be pulling in looking for laying mash and salt licks..

Compared to Cincy, it's second rate at best.

And you're right; comparing it to ours is unfair. They don't have the money or the interest in building a great stadium. The announcers at one of the games over the weekend were going on and on about how "unbelievable" New Crew is going to be.

Well yeah dingleberry, that was rather my point. At the end of the day every fan thinks their team is special, which is their right, and some are very, very, special, but nobody owns the game.

*Cheers and returning the favor by correcting to *Swenson's.

In Austin, what are the 4 silo things next to the truck loading dock?

Rainwater collection. It's part of the LEED accreditation through Austin Energy.

That's an awful lot of equipment to collect the 34 annual inches of rain that Austin typically gets.

But it's classic Tony to show and say one thing and then actually do another, completely different thing.

There will be a catchment system running through the roof. As dry as we are these systems are fairly common in newer developments. Homeowners even use them on a smaller scale for gardening, lawn, etc.

I mean, 18% more precipitation is not a trivial amount, but Columbus averages 40 inches a year, so it's not like there's a massive difference and Austin is some desert wasteland. And from experience, my recollection is that in that part of Texas, the rain tends to come in buckets when it does happen, which sort of makes the sorts of systems that they're installing important.

I apologize for "raining" on the "Austin So Dry/Tony So Dumb" parade. Truly (which is something he's probably into, given his Zima proclivities).

One thing that caught my eye about this comparison... FC Cincy’s stadium has a capacity of 26k compared to 20.5k in Austin. Better stadium and higher capacity for very little more money.

However as the smallest capacity at 20k, for more money, New Crew Stadium better overdeliver. It will be great to go to a game there.

I know both the area in Columbus and Cinci where the stadiums are going, and the game day experiences will be fantastic at both - great surrounding areas with plenty to do. Austin looks like it’s going to be a slog just to get there.

Considering this is what they build for football stadium in Texas, yes I would say they will fit right in hosting Austin ISD games. Allen & McKinney were built for $60 & $70M respectively. A couple of others were is same range. Frisco pays FCD $280,000 per year to use it for games.... and they use Jerry World.

Is that what Tony Preshart told you? They are probably haz. mat. remediation tanks that are part of a system for extracting contaminants from the subsurface custom designed for Toxic Avenger Stadium.

Looks like a feed mill. Maybe it will be sponsored by Chip and Joanna from HGTV.

Our stadium looks like a star destroyer. We should invite TBDBITlL to play the Imperial March.

I just love that the yokels from The State That Shall Not Be Messed With act like they need to explain to us Yankees what a "rainwater catchment system" is and that they're so ahead of the times that "homeowners even use them on a smaller scale for gardening, lawn, etc."

My old man has a had a rain barrel on at least one downspout for 25 years and I'm planning to install one next year. Hell, they city even subsidizes them.

    Get bent, ********os.
