OT: london explosions is everyone in london and their families ok? i am sending my best thoughts (note: it could be a while before the londoners reply because mobile and internet service are largely out at the moment)
Re: OT: london explosions Looks like there'll be a few deaths according to the news at present. Total chaos for commuters given they've closed the tube. The worry will be if there's some more big bombs still to go off...
The day that we have been expecting has finally arrived. With the security focus up north for the G8 meeting and the day after the Olympic announcement, the terrorists finally made their move. There have been a series of explosions on buses and trains in central London (current figure is at least 6). Lots of casualties and several dead. Things are still in a state of chaos at the moment. We can discuss and confirm things later, but this is a thread for all of you in London to post and confirm your safety in. Let's hope everyone checks in.
Re: OT: london explosions It says on ITV that about 20 people have died. Tony Blair is going to give a statement at 12 noon
Most of the UK media sites are down at the moment. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/07/07/london.tube/index.html EDIT: Didn't see the other thread. Must have been posted while I was typing.
Safe at work thanks Teso. Emergency services' sirens going by my central London office constantly though.
Re: OT: london explosions Just woke up and saw the news... My thoughts and prayers go out to all London'ers right now!
We now have 7 explosions (1 bus and 6 underground), unconfirmed reports of Al Qaeda claiming responsibility on a website and talk that the bus bomb was the result of a suicide bomber
My girlfriends in Canary Wharf today, and will be spending the night there. No chance of getting out tonight. All the hotels are booked up etc.etc. Milletts probably doing a godo trade on sleeping bags
Myself and The Grimster are ok, Although I'm bang in the middle of it at the moment, I work in Television news/sport , amd I can tell you some of the pictures were getting at the moment are pretty grim, it's quite eerie around here at the moment, looking from the roof of our buildind, all you can see are flashing lights, the emergency services and the Army!. Just to let you know, that most mobiles are only being allowed emergency calls, so contact with people in London will be very hard Charles Clarke has confirmed 4 explosions
Threads merged. Has anyone heard from Rick yet? He had sent me a PM prior to all this going on, and I don't think he takes the subway to work... I'm with Teso in that as soon as anyone hears anything about our friends across the pond, concerning their safety, please update us here. God bless...
Re: OT: london explosions Horrifying news. Hope everything goes well and the casualties stay very low. I am still in shock!
My lord! My thoughts are with you all. I won't cram this thread with crap so that everyone can check in soon, but know that our thoughts are with you. I don't know what the situation is with phone access and if internet access is any better, but if you need help contacting anyone please let us know. It's good to hear from those that have checked in already. Glad to know that you are safe. Keep the updates coming.
I have heard from the Arsenal staff that their personnel are all accounted for, though many are checking on their friends and family. I've also sent out some note to Rick and Jeff and Kelvin (anyone have his new e-mail?) checking on them as well.
I just heard the horrible news. Sorry for the victims. I hope all of our Londoners and their friends and families are ok.
