I'm bored already so thought I'd start a thread to collect any juicy bits of off season gossip, either real or imaginary. Seems several of our players usually get a sniff/trial from MLS/NASL, etc. so post away. As of now, personally, I got nothing.
Looking back at the 2015 CCC thread, yes, there's a post from 11/5/2014 with the announced teams. We won't see DCU (sniff), RSL, Seattle or LA (no shite) at the 2016 version due to Concacaf Champions League matches in February but all the others are in play. We can start our wish list..... Also, I do remember reading (on the Batts Facebook page?) that there were going to be some mods to the stadium during the offseason, maybe Mr. O can enlighten us?
don't know about stadium other than overseeding the rye grass and keeping the 9v9 crowd off the field for a couple of months. There will be a Good Cheer Fund raising night in December, which let us play some ball and give some money to a good cause. CCC teams: I think Atlanta would be target number one, for more than one reason.
Atlanta isnt entering until 2017 but I would love to see them. I also think Orlando is doing their own preseason thing (not sue of the timing) but I would think that would take them out too. personally I would love to see NYCFC, Montreal (if Lampard and Drogba are still with them) and TFC in hopes the Red Patch boys and others would come down again.
Three of the boys in Houston for tacos and a trial. More on Battery HQ website: http://charlestonbattery.com/news/ferguson-van-schaik-competing-in-houston/
Any body hear how the trials went? I can't find anything.....the Houston BS forum doesn't have much new info, just a lot of bitching about last season.
Not a rumor, just a thought, but WTF, we can make it a rumor if we want. Now that Ottawa's coach, Marc Dos Santos, is coming to coach the expansion Kansas City USL club, the Swope Park Rangers, wonder if he'll entice any of the ex-Battery players to join him? e.g. Heinemann, Falvey, Paterson, Richter
well I think we can eliminate a few more MLS teams from the CCC. Diamond Desert cup includes Colorado, New England, Huston, SKC, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, San Jose, and Real Salt Lake. http://www.uslsoccer.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=32800&ATCLID=210530193 the first leg of the CONCACAF cup commitments are Feb 23-25 and those teams are DC United, LA (as well as Real Salt Lake and Seattle Sounders) That leaves FC Dallas, NYRB, NYCFC, Orlando, Chicago, Columbus, Toronto, Montreal, Philadelphia
I really won't mind not seeing Houston again....although they were an easy win for us . I'd like to get Columbus so Brook will have an excuse to visit us again, I think any outstanding warrants for his arrest have probably expired.
someone mentioned Walt Disney hosting their preseason tournament and Orlando getting a bigger stake in it this season.
