Yes, you read that right. An October 18-28 USWNT camp has been confirmed. It will not feature any international matches. (The article on the USSF website also says the staff are working on possible USWNT "activity" in November.) 🚨 BACK ON THE FIELD SOON! 🚨 The #USWNT will conduct a training camp in Commerce City, Colorado from Oct. 18-28 🙌⚽️— U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (@USWNT) October 7, 2020 It will not have any players playing overseas: Source confirms that #USWNT players overseas will not be on the upcoming October camp roster, just announced for October 18-28 in Colorado.— Meg Linehan (@itsmeglinehan) October 7, 2020 Roster will be announced soon. Let the speculation begin.

Also no Lloyd, Pugh, or Franch as they are still recovering from injury. And some deserving call-ups based on NWSL play in Kristie Mewis, Shea Groom, and Bethany Balcer, among others. Plus, Macario has been called in!
On the Macario call-up: Significant, breaking news: Catarina Macario has been called in to the upcoming #USWNT training camp, her first with the senior team. There won't be any official games, so the eligibility part isn't an issue as it will just be training. It obviously signals progress, though.— Jeff Kassouf (@JeffKassouf) October 8, 2020 To be even clearer, USSF notes that Macario is NOT yet eligible to play for the USWNT: "This is the first senior team call-up for Macario, a star at Stanford and a two-time MAC Hermann Trophy winner. She has previously attended training camps and played in non-international matches with the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National Team. She is not yet eligible to play in an official match for the USA but is currently pursuing her U.S. citizenship."
Not necessary; Macario has announced that's she's been sworn in as a US citizen: Officially a U.S. citizen! 🇺🇸 pic.twitter.com/SISH2nmTkP— Catarina Macario (@catarinamacario) October 9, 2020 Catarina, welcome! EDIT to clarify: As she notes, this is NOT the final step to be eligible to play for the national team, but it is a significant one!
There shouldn't be much involved. Here's the newly approved FIFA statute on the subject: 7 Acquisition of a new nationality 1. Any player who refers to art. 5 par. 1 to assume a new nationality and who has not played international football in accordance with art. 5 par. 3 shall be eligible to play for the representative teams of the new association only if he fulfils one of the following conditions: a) He was born on the territory of the relevant association; b) His biological mother or biological father was born on the territory of the relevant association; c) His grandmother or grandfather was born on the territory of the relevant association; d) He has lived on the territory of the relevant association: i) for players that began living on the territory before the age of 10: at least three years; ii) for players that began living on the territory between the age of 10 and 18: at least five years; iii) for players that began living on the territory from the age of 18: at least five years. 2. A player who seeks to rely upon par. d ii) must: a) demonstrate that the move to the territory of the association was not for the purpose of participating for its representative teams; and b) submit, via the relevant association, a request for eligibility to the Players’ Status Committee. Sounds like she needs to submit a request to the PSC to be approved for eligibility. It's a new process, so it may not be quick, but it should be a pretty simple route to be approved for the USWNT.
Rapinoe is sure “opting out” of a lot of soccer-related things lately, for club and country. If USWNT is a merit based system, she should have to earn her place back.
October 18, 2020.............World-renowned Dynamic Meteorologists today are baffled by the sudden appearance of Rainbow over the Denver Metropolitan area when the existing atmospheric conditions dictated that such an occurrence would be impossible. I am just sticking this in here even though it relates only to Vlatko. Do others know that Vlatko’s daughter Dragana plays for Missouri State?
We have some media coming out from camp: Inside the lines: [Cut because already posted] Behind the Crest: Soccer podcast with interviews with Horan and Smith. EDIT: Beaten to the punch on that first one, so I deleted it.
I am here for the captain Sauerbrunn content! (She is the default captain in this camp, right? She's the most capped player there, and Rapinoe, Lloyd, and Morgan are all out. I know it doesn't really matter since we don't have a game, but there are some newbies in camp, and I like to think they're looking up to Sauerbrunn.) Also now that I realized Sauerbrunn is the "captain" in camp, it also just clicked that all of the forwards on the 2019 WWC team are out, and Lynn Williams is the most capped forward in camp. I'm not saying that's good or bad, just interesting. And in watching some of the media coming out, and re-looking at the camp roster, I just want to point out how deep of a midfield we have now. It's quite a turnaround from a few years ago.
Camp ended today. So, one more video: And good news: We’re pleased to announce that as we officially wrap up camp today, we have conducted 685 COVID-19 tests with zero positive results. Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff and members of our medical team for their commitment to maintaining our controlled environment!— U.S. Women's National Soccer Team (@USWNT) October 28, 2020
Whatever is in the water in Colorado it should be gathered, bottled and distributed to all youth camps for consumption. Two players with bright soccer futures but much, much more impressive as young women.
Yep, I am a high school coach in the area and follow her high school team on Twitter. That account posted a pic of her signing to play at Missouri State with a pic of Vlatko included last spring perhaps.
