Cool article! So it does sound like the Blues will try to partner with either the galaxy or the Goats. I wonder if the galaxy will go for it? For the Blues' sake, I hope so. I want to see USLPro grow and be successful, so even though I hate lost angeles, I'm rooting for this team to hang in there and continue to operate.

If the USL is partnering with MLS anyway, why couldn't the Blues partner with both the Chivas and the Gals? I mean both teams could own or partly own 1/2 of the roster. Don't see how it couldn't be a positive for either....

That's not how it works. MLS team that partner with USLPro teams, will loan at least four players to the USLPro side. The loaned players remain the property of the MLS side, and may be recalled when the MLS side needs them. (I'm not sure what the restrictions are, if any.) But the MLS side does not in any way own any part of the USLPro side. It's just a cooperative agreement.

The USLPro team continues to operate as an independent entity. They are not obligated to play the MLS guys (but presumably would) over their own players.

    GO QUAKES!!

What does this realistically mean for the Blues? Should they even attempt to partner with Chivas USA? Being a long time Galaxy fan living in Orange County, I know I wouldn't attend any Blues games if they affiliated with Chivas, but I'm not sure the Blues can survive on their own when the Galaxy start their USL team. Anyone have any news or ideas what the Blues plan on doing?

OC Blue Stars > LA Blues > LA Galaxy. Would make for nice alignment, but I agree with other posts, not sure LAG adding 4 players to the LA Blues will improve the Blue, if the the Blues are having issues with the players/coach.
Therefore, I do see the LAG putting their own managed USL team so they get what they want in the final product. Games at the Carson complex etc. Would have been nice to play at Fullerton to kind of spread the LAG brand around. This has got to happen soon, surprised nothing from MLS or USL or LAG yet.

Do you think the LAG placing their own team in USL will have any effect on the Blues? Not sure if two LA teams could survive in the USL.

Are the Galaxy still partnering with the Blues?

    ======
That's what I was refering to. That was in November, here we are in January and USL season kicks off when?
March, April ? Doesn't seem like a lot of time left. They could play at the track and field stadium as that is about the crowd support I would expect and take some wear and tear off the main field and make scheduling a little easier.

Well now that Garber is in charge of that club, why not?

Well the same reasons the Blues were passed over initially still exist. They're still a dysfunctional mess of a franchise. That said they're not the worst on field outfit.

I've come to terms that we won't have an affiliation. I was hoping to get Houston. Maybe we can get in early with an expansion side.

Club is making big improvements. We'll see how it pans out once season actually starts but hopefully we can get a deal in place with LAFC or ATL. Maybe have it set before they even enter the league. High hopes.

Possibility of doing affiliation with LAFC next season or 2018. There have been discussions between the clubs but not sure how advanced those discussions have been.

I'd wager that damn near everybody in American soccer wants to be affiliated with LAFC in some way. OC Blues are literally the closest to them though and it would be great to see something happen.

The LA Galaxy recently colonized a youth club in San Diego. I wonder if LAFC look to SD to continue their quest of obliterating the Galaxy on all fronts.

LAFC AND ORANGE COUNTY BLUES FC ANNOUNCE MULTI-YEAR PARTNERSHIP
    [IMG]

With LAFC set to take the pitch in 2018, the partnership will provide LAFC the ability to loan players to Orange County as soon as 2017 and provide fans the opportunity to see some of LAFC’s future MLS stars on display in Orange County.

LAFC players on loan to Orange County will be provided with a unique opportunity to develop in US Soccer’s fastest-growing and most dynamic professional league while Orange County soccer players will be provided with a clear pathway to reach the highest level of American soccer with LAFC
