USL suspension of Jermaine Jones reveals fractures within team and even wider discord According to documentation reviewed by The Athletic, Jones was suspended through the end of the 2024 season following an independent investigation. The summary of that investigation said it had “substantiated” repeated instances of harassment, retaliation and hostility from Jones toward members of the team. The United Soccer League Players Association (USLPA), which spurred the league to commission the investigation, also filed a separate labor complaint against the club in April, accusing the team of interrogating players about union activities and threatening to retaliate against them if they supported the union. The complaint, with the National Labor Relations Board, is pending. Jones has not coached the team in a match since Aug. 30. Despite his absence, neither the club nor the league announced Jones’ suspension publicly. Given that the USL is not a single-entity league, its standard is for clubs to determine themselves whether to announce suspensions or fines.
Maybe it's just me, but this seemed like a bad idea from the start. Jermaine Jones in Fresno, coaching a D3 team? In 2018-19, multiple people, including his ex-wife, filed restraining orders against him.
I’m really curious Why the team owners say they want Jermaine Jones back after he serves his suspension, given so many players said he created such a toxic environment
I'm guessing it's because they're the Central Valley Fuego FC and they're desperate for relevance. I just looked at the standings though and they are dead last. I remember during the Frogs days that the Fresno Fuego would come in and play the Frogs pretty tough. I think I saw the Frogs lose to them once or twice. But that was NPSL and a long time ago. Former Quakes forward (briefly) Pablo Campos scored 32 goals for them in 25 games in 2007-2008.
Doesn't surprise me. According to wiki, Fresno Fuego played in NPSL and then USL League Two, from 2003-2019. Central Valley Fuego is a new franchise as of 2020 or so. They retained the name "Fuego" as a "nod" to the previous franchise, such as it was.
What even is this lol The League for Clubs has taken NorCal by storm, making it our first area of the country to introduce promotion and relegation.Pro/Rel ➡️ LfC pic.twitter.com/qsdpwacUq2— The League For Clubs (@TheLeague_FC) October 14, 2024 Well now the pro/rel fanboys finally have an American soccer league to support... all 27 of them pic.twitter.com/QHEhgVJiX6— The League For Clubs (@TheLeague_FC) October 14, 2024

============== Questions 1/ Is this entirely new league and if so, what level on the pyramid? 2/ Any relationship or affiliation to NISA, NPSL or UPSL or any other league for that matter? On the other hand, that cluster of teams would have made a nice division/conference along with USL-2 or NPSL existing teams. California has so many players could probably have an entire league of 32 teams just in California at this level. Weird.
