The green one is especially nice and would be right on point on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Oakland Alameda County Coliseum Authority has approved the Oakland Roots and Soul Sports Clubs to play their 2025-2026 soccer season home matches in the Coliseum Stadium.

Never mind, this article is from March 15 so nothing has changed, not sure why the vice mayor just tweeted it out

We watched one team score 3 last night, however it was in Cardinale Stadium.

Maybe this has been talked about, but are we now trying to force Monterey into NorCal? When did it move from out of the Central Coast?

That's not how you distinguish Northern and Southern California. If you have Vons Supermarkets, you're in Southern California. If you have Safeway Supermarkets, you're in Northern California. Monterey has Safeway.

There you go. That's the real answer.

I'll let it go, but labeling Central Coast anything other than Central Coast is just wrong. It is it's own distinct area. When I lived in Santa Cruz, even they were hesitant to say they were in Northern California unless the person was from over the hill or such. Monterey....nah, that's like saying Santa Rosa is in the Bay Area which some people do.

And, yeah, I found many sites, including Wikipedia, which backs it up.

I've lived in the Central Coast ( Watsonville/ Las Lomas/Salinas)my whole life, and we refer to ourselves as Nor-Cal in general, but when someone asks where I'm from I always answer Central Coast.

Yes, but if the divide is only NorCal and SoCal? I would include everything north of Big Sur, at least, to be NorCal. Santa Cruz is 30 minutes away from SJ. I don't feel like I'm going into a different "zone" when I go there. I feel like I'm driving over the hill to go to the beach.

I agree with Santa Cruz being so close. There were certainly long time residents there though that didn't feel the same. Monterey isn't the same though.

Well we claim Santa Cruz. Whether or not they want to claim us doesn’t matter, we’re bigger :). As for Monterey it’s is a suburb of Santa Cruz :)
