Would have been fun to have those conversations between ref and VAR being broadcasted though. It would calm down a lot of tempers on social media if we listen to the explanations from the horse's mouth on live TV.
Cameroon has had lots of bright moments. If the keeper had played the ball with her foot and VAR hadn't jobbed them of what still looks to me a good goal, this would be a very exciting last 10 minutes.
Wrong!!! There have been plenty of refs checking for the correctness of calls including on/offside in this tournament and there also were plenty that checked in the men's WC. It is a choice and it shows that they are cowards when they don't check such close calls.
She was clearly off They showed the lines. She was closer to the goal line than the second last defender.
What exactly are they checking then? The line that is blatantly obvious even if the ref sees it on the big screen on the pitch.
After the final whistle, the ref should be ready to run for the tunnel before Cameroon players realize the game is over...lol...They might beat her up...
87' 3-0 England left ck, to 4m 3-left. Houghton jumps behind Awona and jostles her, Awona misses with forehead and takes ball directly off the bridge of her nose. Brief stoppage, Awona shakes head to stop horizon from moving around. 89' 3-0 Sonkeng cross from box top wide right, off Greenwood's turned back over endline. 90' 3-0 Leuko passes to Sonkeng at 12m box right. Sonkeng touches to 9m box right, hard ground cross through 2m left post misses everybody. +7'.
Irrelevant. It’s blatantly a obvious decision which is why the VAR team make it. The only exceptions are when players are offside and the ref checks to see if they were interfering with play. This was not the case obviously on both decisions.
They are only adding seven minutes in spite of the much greater time Cameroon spent in theatrics. I guess they figure the game is over anyway.
90+2' (of +7') 3-0 Takounda gets to 1m wide left, crosses to 3m left post, Bardsley catches face-high. 90+4' (of +7') 3-0 Walsh chips from 25m box right to 8m 6-left, Duggan is offside. 90+5' (of +7') 3-0 Nchout chses down Bright at 2m wide right, spins her around and ball rolls toward corner flag. AR flags foul on Nchout. 90+6' (of +7') 3-0 Cameroon long cross from 27m wide right, floats to Bardsley. Takounda goes down at 15m center, HC Djeumfa wants a VAR check for pk ... not getting it.
I am sorry, but this time I don't agree with you. The refereeing was consistent with what we've seen at this World Cup since the first day, when 'Mbock Bathy's goal was disallowed for a similar question of mere centimeters. I understand the frustration, as much as I understood it back then, but by now we should know that's the standard of the calls in this World Cup and act accordingly. I can't see no blatant wrong call against Cameroon. On the contrary, the Ref looked quite lenient with Cameroonian players at times. What I saw has been a collective tantrum that looked very childish, the way a child acts when he's frustrated and wants to make you feel guilty no matter what. I have to appreciate English players' composure. Imagine how they can feel: they didn't do anything wrong and they just went on winning a game without doing aything unfair, but for some reasons they should feel like robbers. And last thing: I am sorry but I just don't buy the "racism" card. I am persuaded that if the same exact calls had been made against a different team from a CAF's one, no-one would have made such a fuss about them.
