I know this says A-League, but maybe he's looking at an MLS club too, from today's Vancouver paper: Whitecaps may sign striker Carlo Corazzin New West native played for Oldham Athletic Dan Stinson Vancouver Sun Friday, May 30, 2003 Canadian international striker Carlo Corazzin may be close to signing a contract with the Vancouver Whitecaps for the balance of the 2003 A-League soccer season. Whitecaps' director of operations Bob Lenarduzzi said Thursday he discussed the possibility of a contract with Corazzin about 10 days ago, but added that another A-League team is also interested in signing the 31-year-old New Westminster native, whose contract with English League Second Division club Oldham Athletic has expired. Lenarduzzi declined to name the other A-League team. "In fairness, I don't think I should name the team other than to say that it's a high-profile team in the league," Lenarduzzi said. "I've indicated to Carlo that we'd love to have him and I'm hopeful that we can reach a contract agreement soon. "I'd put our chances of signing Carlo at 50-50. But our top card in the negotiations is that he's indicated that his preference would be to play in Vancouver. I can't put a timeline on it because there's still a few issues to be resolved." Among those issues is that Corazzin is currently nursing a knee injury suffered while playing for Oldham Athletic this past season. "Carlo isn't sure when he'll be ready to resume playing soccer," Lenarduzzi said. "I'm not too bothered with the timeline because the striker position is one area where we're doing well this season. But I think Carlo can add a lot to the team down the road. "He's the type of player we'd love to have near the end of the season -- and particularly in the playoffs." Corazzin, who has 10 goals and 55 caps with the senior national team, played in the defunct Canadian Soccer League in the early 1990s before embarking on an eight-season English League career. He played for the Winnipeg Fury side that defeated the Vancouver 86ers in the two-game 1992 CSL championship series, then signed with the 86ers for the '93 season, finishing the campaign as the team's second-leading scorer with seven goals and five assists in 24 games. Corazzin's first English League team was Cambridge United of the Third Division, where he played from '93 to '96. He then signed with Plymouth Argyle of the Second Division, playing there from '96 to '98, before moving to Northampton Town of the Third Division for two seasons and helping the team win promotion to the Second Division. Corazzin has spent the past three seasons with Oldham Athletic. Lenarduzzi said another reason he's pursuing Corazzin is the Wednesday release of former Liberian international striker Musa Shannon, who was not productive as a substitute in recent Whitecaps' games.
Rumford Maine??? Rumford? That's not exactly northern Maine but that place sure smells like shite! International Paper, right?
I lived in Bethel and Bryant Pond for a few years, and that area (including Rumford) is really more dead-central Maine. And I certainly don't know what crazy accent Ricardo was trying to type.
