NZ vs Scotland 5/27/03 (R) New Zealand holds lackluster Scotland to 1-1 tie on a goal by Ryan Nelson. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/scotland/2938922.stm
Not sure if you meant to start this here -- but suggestions where it should go? I guess for now I'll move it to MLS and alter the title slightly.
I think it has relevance here... New Zealand is the USA's next opponent, on June 8, in Richmond, VA. One vote for leaving it here. *EDIT*-- I made my response before it got moved from the USA Men's forum.
No worries. And being fairly close to NZ, I'm sure this corner of the planet will have an eye on that friendly as well.
US-Wales at Spartan outdrew NZ-Scotland. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/news/2003/05/27/scotland_rdp/
Central midfield, I'm inferring from the article on sportinglife.com... http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...03/05/27/SOCCER_Scotland.html&TEAMHD=scotland Also, I knew there was a direct reference to him playing in that role, from yesterday's "90 Minutes" e-newsletter from mlsnet.com, but silly me deleted it. But I do recall it being there.
I wouldn't read too much into this result. In fact, it reflects poorly on NZ. The Scots are worse than bad this year. Last game (at home as well) they lost to Austria's B team 2-0. Ferguson's out, Burley quit, Lambert's out, to name a few. They are going to get toasted by Germany. I'm starting to think Bertie Vogts took the Scotland job just to take them out of the running for Euro.
Some of my English friends called this a good result for the Kiwi's. Here's to hoping we have no problems with them....
