NYRB at RSL I sure know how to f*** up a thread! Thanks Noodles. (embarrassed....) NYRB (3-0-1) RSL (0-2-2)
Re: RSL @ NYRB May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Hey, Noodles, congrats on the promotion!! Just noticed you are a new moderator. I think you'll be great.
Re: RSL @ NYRB May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Still in a tailspin from last night....trying my best to look forward.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Thanks for the laugh. I hope you're right. (At least I got the [STRIKE]Chivas[/STRIKE]Colorado score right in my 3-2 prediction.)
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> At least I got the Colorado score right in my 2-2 prediction. My credibility was shot there, anyway, so I may as well go out on a limb and predict a win this week. RSL often pulls it together big time when they've lost to "must beat" teams.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> 6-0 But I haven't yet decided who will be the winner. --edit: Actually, in all reality, I need a good match this Saturday. I'm bringing some friends who have never been to a football match before
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Today I am still mired in the pessimistic morass generated by last night's debacle... 3-0 Red Bull Let's see how I feel on Friday (or sooner if a miracle occurs and the program is edited to read something like: Head Coach: Brian Bliss)...
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> 4-0 RBNY!!! Mathis, Reyna, and 2 for Altidore with Mathis having 2 of the assits. Ballouchy doesn't take any shots and is subbed for Nick Rimando who Ellinger sees as an upgrade. Talley walks of the field with 10 min. remaining in disgust. Ellinger flips off the crowd and proclaims this is his team and nobody will F*^$ that up. Crowd turns on RSL and starts to chant MATHIS, MATHIS, MAthis!!! And the next home game only sees some 500 people show up to the game. JEEZ I HOPE I AM WRONG!!!!
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Real loses yet another game in the last five minutes. We'll be tied 2-2 after Freddy miraculously scores his first RSL goal around the 70th minute, but then Jozy will put in a header off a set piece in the 87th minute to put NY ahead 3-2. We don't get another shot off the rest of the game because Ellinger likes to put worthless substitutes in (cough-ATIBA-cough) who don't do a damn thing. Luckily I'll be out of town and won't have to witness another disappointing loss at home.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> After being rediculed by fans and the press, RSL comes in fired up like a mother and manages a 1-1 tie at home.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Sounds like what I said after the CDC game, and we all know how that turned out. If you think RSL is going to be able to score on NY, pass me some of what you're smoking. They haven't given up a goal this year, and it's not like they've played Toronto 4 times. 2 of those were vs. Dallas, 1 vs. Houston. That defense is so organized RSL may not set foot in the 18 all night, especially the way they insist on playing thru balls every time. 2-0 NY.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> Maybe our crappy excuse for an offensive attack is exactly what is needed to break down NYRB's defense.
Re: NYRB @ RSL May 5th <<Pre-PBP-Post>> RSL dominates possession and manages to head into the last 15 minutes of the game tied 1-1, but ellinger decides to sub in andy williams (obviously forgetting that he is injured and out for 4-6 weeks) for eddie pope, red cows promptly score 2 goals. ellinger then decides to sub in nik basagno for mehdi, rsl loses any and all formation along with all possession. red cows become confused with this new tactic from rsl, but score another just for fun in stoppage time. 4-1 red cows.
