Mayor Bloomberg announced a stadium site near Citi Field in 2012. Once something is approved in NYC it gets done pretty quickly. It's not Boston. If it wasn't for the unions things would get done a lot faster (but probably fall down).

I'm thrilled it's actually getting done. Been on this website since basically the beginning of it. Was a Metro supporter but refused to follow Red Bull. Attended minor league games during the time between the erasing of Metro and the forming of NYCFC. To have seen NYCFC win the MLS Cup and now have a stadium being built in Queens it truly more than I could have asked for.
This place will be a road trip for sure. Along with Chicago and Miami projects, and just maybe Boston, got some good places to look forward to. --------My prior New York trips were---- NY Cosmos at Hostra vs San Antonio David Beckham game at old Meadowlands in 2007 (the wild 5-4 game) vs. Galaxy Red Bulls at RB Arena vs Colorado NYCFC at current place- I think it was Columbus.
