Part of the link from above: Even with the mayor’s blessing the stadium would still need to be approved through the Uniform Land Use Review Procedure (ULURP) which is not a given, sources said.
This comment was made in a discussion from another site when someone stated concern about ULURP not passing this. "I work in NYC real estate development. ULURP is a formality." Sooo, I don't know. Take it how you want it.
Stadium announcement coming soon? Sounds likely https://t.co/IWvizBgdZF pic.twitter.com/HVEjevF1qe— Chris Campbell (@SoupInNYC27) November 7, 2022

Is BS skeptical about today's announcement? I'm surprised by the fact that there are no posts about it on this thread.
Yeah this is mind blowing. Big deal. Beggars can’t be choosers but my only gripe is 25,000 feels a bit on the small side. Hope it can be expanded to at least 30,000 down the line big big props to New York mayor getting that across finish line. He was a big nycfc supporter since day one. New England revs……… what you doin?! Get in the SSS game!
I'm excited but 2027 is far away. Still better to have a timeline. Feels like until there's a 'groundbreaking' its not really happening yet...
This sub forum is dead because Big soccer didn't want to create it until the first season. Another dedicated forum started just after the announcement of the franchise so nobody comes to this forum. Most of the talk about this stadium on this site is in the main MLS forum. Anyways, I feel very confident that this is going forward. Very rarely does the mayor of NYC and other high profile city leaders attend an event like this for over 2 hours if it ain't real.
I was today years old when I found out about the dedicated NYCFC. been mainly on Twitter and FB with most of my NYCFC discussions ..
Yea traffic has declined since 2015, but it still has a fairly decent sized and generally civil community. Less traffic than the socials, but higher quality and easier to navigate discussions.
Congrats on your SSS and with Miami getting a green light, it is long past time for NE to step it up. If NY, MIA and heck, even getting a SSS in Downtown LA can be done, its time for NE.
I am very happy for this new stadium, but I am sorry for these 2 situations: 1) Why 2027? 2) Why only 25.000 seats? I wish AT LEAST 1,000 more than NJ stadium... And I have also a curiosity: why $780 million for a small stadium?
1.) Still some environmental work needed prior to construction. 2.) The American way has moved towards smaller stadiums so they will be full and higher prices can be charged. 3.) Construction costs in NYC are sky high.
1) Yes building in New York takes forever. Everything has to be agreed in triplicate by every union. And using non-union labor can lead to bigger problems. 2) I think 25k is too big. New Yorkers can be flaky when their team isn't winning. There's also only one Subway line. Yankee Stadium has two Subway lines (3 of you don't mind walking) and a mainline train station.

Rapids fan here. In town for weekend and going to a NYCFC game tonight at the Mets stadium. Suggestions for pregame bar or fan group hosted tailgate would be appreciated. We C-38 are undefeated at tailgating but I’d love to see what you got.

https://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2023...qhxuH95KDghpw0XaFO7fMCDdCWs6S0jG4tYduhfECjpR8 New York City FC’s Queens soccer stadium has taken another major step toward fruition. Community Board 7 in the borough voted on Monday to approve the project in the Willets Point Revitalization Plan, which includes the Major League Soccer team’s long-awaited stadium.

Surprised it was done this quickly. Was expecting 10+ years from the announcement of lots of delays and bureaucratic fun.
