Have a few players on trial currently (Rawls a GK that was drafted by NYCFC then let go and Hurtado the CB from the Sounders) and apparently the team is trying to sign a CB from Standard Liege as well coupled with the recent trade for White from Philly and the team is at least trying to shore up a weak spot in the roster. I'd expect more action in January though.
Would have preferred a Defender here but we didn't give up any future picks or players so I'm pleased with that. Don't know where he's going to play though.
I guess it's hard to say anything until the dust settles on all the moves. I'm a Mix fan, but we got too many guys in the middle and Mix arguably has been the worst performing.
Viera called him a winger. But I thought he was more of an attacking midfielder. I just hope he plays and doesn't rot on the bench because Pirlo and Lampard are required to play every game.
He is young (19) and Pirlo & Lamps are gone after next season. So maybe he comes off the bench this season then gets more minutes and games the season after.
Loving all these young South Americans being brought in. Learn more about @fede_bravoo's position and playing style #NYCFC #WeAreOne pic.twitter.com/tkVCTb4osb— New York City FC (@newyorkcityfc) February 20, 2016
There ARE workarounds. Two of the current internationals will most likely be be loaned out to Wilmington ( Harrison & Martinez) and I still feel Mena is going to be loaned or sold to some South American team he hasn't played much this preseason if at all and its telling that in the last preseason game the team started 2 trialist with Hernandez instead of Mena. Also you realize that its the preseason and a lot of moves are still to be made to make rosters compliant with MLS laws, right?
Maxime Chanot a done deal http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/07/16/nycfc-acquire-luxembourg-defender-maxime-chanot
Sean Johnson is official. Very nice upgrade over Saunders and still very young for a keeper Excited to join the @NYCFC family and start the new chapter in my career! #NYCFC— Sean Johnson (@SeanJohnGK) December 11, 2016 http://www.nycfc.com/post/2016/12/11/nycfc-acquires-sean-johnson-atlanta-united
Congrats on Sean Johnson. Our huge loss is your gain. There was no reason for the Fire to give him away, but sounds like he will have a spot in New York.
So other than the fact he is 5'7" and weighs 150 lbs, what do we know about him? Obviously the team saw something in Lewis that they traded into the first round to scoop him up and gave Chicago 250K in GAM in order to do so. Looking at his hilite video on mlssocer.com, his best asset appears to be he's the sort of player who can dish the ball to the open player in the area. TMac back to MF and the kids on the wings feeding Villa?
We got our 16th pick back from Seattle for 75K of GAM money. With the pick, NYCFC selected Kwame Awuah from U Conn. MLSsoccer.com lists him as a MF, but the vid on Facebook mentions he's originally a Left Back who was moved to MF, but returned to LB during the combine. Small, fast and one specialty is his ability to make a cross. New Angelino?
You folks are in for a treat. This guy turns on a dime. Devasting to defend 1v1 in space. He would have scored in double digits except that he is a poor shooter. But that can be corrected. Cat has serious wheels! Diamond in the rough.

NEWS: Alexander Ring, Finland international midfielder, joins #NYCFC https://t.co/sy9uOiH1vO— New York City FC (@newyorkcityfc) February 1, 2017 Nice article on the web site: http://www.nycfc.com/post/2017/02/01/ring-i-can-t-wait-play-yankee-stadium
Really like what I'm reading about him. Sounds like he is a two way midfielder, which we haven't really had at all. Or at least any good ones.
Looks like he's something of an upgrade over Iraola (even though he was great he wasn't a natural DM) so I'm loving it.
