... mod's note ... Metrotrolling deleted. This thread is for DC United supporters living in the NYC metro area. It is not a place for Metrofans to pimp their team. (It's not our ********ing problem that nobody goes to your games.) If you continue to troll on this board I may have you prohibited from posting here.
Actually, I have a referee friend who lives in Mahwah, and it sounds beautiful, from what I've heard. I've only driven through it...as I don't live too far away. Where are you looking to live? I might be able to give you some guidance. PM me, if you'd like. Oh, and yes, THANKS KNAVE!
Honestly, I have no idea what the salary would be for this job as I don't know the cost of living. I guess I will have to ask for a lot more if what you guys say is true. The interview is tomorrow so I let you guys know how it went.
It really will depend on if you plan on renting or buying, and if you plan on living in the immediate area. Housing is VERY expensive up here - almost no matter where you are. The advantage you have if you live/work in the same area is that you won't have huge commuting costs. Seriously - send me a PM or email and we can chat some more about it.
I spent three years in NYC recently. Really enjoyed everything about my time there except for the distance to RFK. Family-related reasons cause me to spend quite a few weekends up there (including possibly the season opener at Chivas this coming Saturday), and it would be great if there was someplace folks in the NY area could get together to watch DC play. I know that the NY Liverpool Supporters Club congregates at the 11th St. Bar - it's a nice place, and not (as far as I know) a Metro hangout like Nathan Hale's or Nevada Smiths. There are also a ton of other possibilities.
I'm hoping maybe some of us can get together and come down for the opener this weekend. Anyone up for it? My car won't make it (260K miles on it), but if there are other options, it would be fun to do this with others, instead of trying to do it on my own.
If a non-trolling Metro fan can offer some assistance to the guy who is interviewing in Mahwah... First, good luck with the interview. Second, if you arelooking to buy consider loking at Rockland County or Orange County in New York. You will have a commute of less than a half hour but save ALOT of mooney on housing prices and property taxes. The Journal News is the local paper for Rockland and should give you an idea of housing prices. The towns closest to Mahwah are Suffren and Sloatsburg. If you consider Orange County, a slightly longer commute, look for housing in Harriman or Tuxedo. Please consider this partial thanks for the kindness the SE showed my 10 year old daughter at their post All Star game affair last year.
I think it's a given that I'll be out in the parking lot with you - K is supposed to call me as you arrive. My ride may not be like I had thought, so I may be coming in on the bus myself, but regardless - I'll be there!
