I agree that this waiting is ridiculous, but NY will have a run-off anyway for the Public Advocate office between Letitia James (36%) and Daniel Squadron (33%). The more the merrier, I guess. For those who don't know, the main "job" of the Public Advocate in NY is to hang around and see if anything happens to the mayor while in office so they can succeed him.
Not insane at all. I perhaps could be persuaded that the 40% threshold is 5 points too high. Perhaps. But you can't just have the guy with the most votes automatically win when there might be 10 candidates. At their core, libertarians distrust democracy.
Bill Thompson conceded the race yesterday. As of now, de Blasio's lead has increased during the re-canvassing to 40.6%. Oh yeah, happy 2nd anniversary to Occupy Wall Street!!!
I would ******** an acne-scarred humpback with an eyepatch and a hitler mustache before I even looked at a person with stretched earlobes. It's just disgusting.

I'd like to introduce you to my wife. That's her down there picking fleas out of her Hitler mustache. Thank goodness she never got gauges.
But, if that drops under 40, there will be a run-off anyway. Thankfully, at least one person realizes how stupid run-offs are.
True. The recanvassing of the voting machines has been completed and De Blasio has increased his lead to 40.88%. Counting of paper ballots continues. Also glad they don't buy the line that New York's crime statistics will rival Chicago's or that New York's fiscal condition will rival Detroit's on the day after De Blasio takes office. And I knew there was a strong dislike for Bloomberg after all these years, but the intensity of that feeling is growing. People simply can't stand the sight of him anymore.
