So, whether or not "Bend It..." is yer cuppa tea There are a couple of Soccer themed movies showing over the next month in NYC. Sunday May 17th at the Asia Society " The Game Of Their Lives " From 2002, an award winning Documentary about the '66 W.C. quarterfinalist NKorean team that beat Italy. http://www.asiasociety.org and May 30th/ June 8th at Walter Reade/Lincoln Center: " Ultimo Stadio " New Italian feature about Roman family life on the Eve of the Championship Final. http://www.filmlinc.com/wrt/programs/6-2003/italy.htm
Also, at the Walter Reade theater, there is another soccer related movie called "Outsiders of the crowd" about the lives of 7 soccer fans in northern Italy.
Game of Their Lives is an English or American produced Doc. so I'd assume its in English. Ultimo Stadio is an Italian prod. so I'd assume it has subtitles. But does it really matter when we are talking films about the World Game? It comes in many diff languages and colors, just be glad its there to see at all.
Ugh. Tee Vee Fine restaurant tho', open late. Still, I'm talking Vittorio De Sica's neo-realist (and no Flippaphone, thats not a Matrix reference) film classic!
