I'm not down on this move in itself (his output to salary ratio isn't great imo), but its still unsettling that nobody has come in yet. MLS tends to be pretty low-key on rumors, so I don't expect a lot, but things need to start being announced soon.

******** me. Weeks of nothing and now the only news to break the silence is about how we're getting shittier? Maybe I should stop ignoring my ticket rep's calls and let her know exactly how terrible this team is. I'm not sure how else to help the FO get this message.

Good for Patrick. He will thrive in DC like Rolfe has.

They don't care. If it's not clear to everyone now I don't know what else to say.

I wish I would've joined @firefan2001 years ago giving up my season tickets rather than starting last season.

Our team is being run by MLS' consultant on ship-breaking.

That article says Nyarko had been looking for a way out of Chicago. While I understand why he'd feel that way. I also don't want my most senior/tenured player looking for the exit. Obviously things are bad. Rodriguez needs a sea change in mentality in that locker room and you do that by bringing in winners. So far we've got....squat. Great.

As a winger he should be much closer to 10 assists a season than he is. He should also provide a more consistent goal threat. Particularly if the Fire aren't going to have a ~20 goal a season striker. It can't afford to have its other attacking players not contributing more goals. And Nyarko simply isn't a consistent scoring threat.

heres hoping Jovian Jones and/or Doody turns into a defensive beast and theres a CB somewhere to clean up crosses cause Pat is gonna come back to terrorize this club.

also $200k of salary freed up to not use probably.

My opinion about Nyarko is that he always hustled, had speed and a bit of skill. We did not have to worry about RM with him there.

However, he was not going to be better than he is, so if we found a suitable replacement, he was expendable. Unfortunately, we have no replacement for him.

If we had another forward (Magee) and could slot Kennedy on the right, we would be okay, I suppose.

Of course, last season, we had Maloney, an RM. What happened? Oh, yeah. We played Shipp out wide and Maloney in the middle, both out of position.

    Why? -potato.

Pat probably would have missed about 87% of the season due to injury anyway. o_O

Nyarko was never the complete player but he was always fun to watch and gave this team so much. You could also see he was genuinely trying to improve all aspects of his game, like his shooting. I suspect he will see a renaissance on the field in DC and, frankly, I look forward to seeing him play here.
