I think that as things stand right now we would have to play the preliminary round. The SS Winner and the MLS Cup Champion go straight to the group stage.

i've been with the team the whole time . just didn't like much of what i was seeing. it hurts me that my boy kandji isn't playing, but as long as the team is winning, no one can criticize.

i'm a lot happier with conway out of goal at least. i'm glad magee isn't out there. i'd like the defense to be better. i'd like richards to make up his mind to thrill me every week rather than thrill me one week and horrify me the next.

i'd say i'm a fan now, but not for reasons you'd probably like. the word is that my USL team is going to fold very shortly. this could just be a nonsense rumor that has gone wild, but i hear it from every direction. some of hte guys play in the winter rec leagues around town, so i guess i'll have to go down tomorrow and interrogate them until the tell me what is going on. if i don't have a team, i might as well go red bulls, no?

now sure how i'm going to cover the 800 miles each way to get to home games though.

you can't afford to have richards playing like that. it totally negates his gifts and makes me him worse than useless. richards could have killed off RSL 3 times and then we wouldn't have had to rely on the post to advance.

I may be wrong, but if the SS Winner and the MLS Cup Champion are the same team (Columbus) wouldn't that mean that the MLS Cup Runner-up would get the other pass into the group stage? (or would it be the SS Runner-up?)

If I'm right, NY gets the pass to the group stage either way...as the Runner-up if Columbus wins or as the MLS Cup Champion. (If I'm wrong, then NY would have to win MLS Cup or else Houston will get the pass as SS Runner-up.)

Coming back from the Devils game, which was exciting enough with the Devils dropping their fourth lead of the game with a second left, I only saw the last 20 minutes or so live.

So much drama, but like the Devils, the Red Bulls ultimately won.

the greatest fear that i have is that the red bulls with be "just happy to be there." they have every right to feel that way. if they do, they will get throttled.

there are some similarities between the giants last year and the red bulls this year, the main difference being the giants were relatively a better team. the question is can the red bulls step up bit time like the giants did? there is no pressure on them as nobody expects them to win.

i could see red bulls beating houston and i really expected them to beat RSL. i honestly don't see the answer to beating the crew and i can't see the lineup of the last few games doing the job and i couldn't point to any possible lineup and say "this one is likely to win". just go out and have fun and play hard and hope for the best, i suppose. maybe osorio is a mad genius after all and has the answer to this riddle.

no matter what happens in the final game, everyone has to go home pleased by the playoff performance of this team and consider the season a success.

Without question the best $12,900 this franchise has ever spent.

Jimenez has definitely earned himself a senior roster spot (and maybe starting position) next year.
