49' 1-0 Houston simple tap back to Campbell. Campbell surveys, hits driver to Ohai waiting behind NC's right flank at 40m wide left. Ohai races Roccaro side-by-side, accelerates past her through box top left to 6-top mid-left, with Eddy way behind both. Early toe-poke beats Kurtz's block try, deflects off/through Rowland's gloves, across mouth into right side netting high. The @HoustonDash sure were ready for the second half. @KealiaOhai shows off the speed and shows off her finish. 1–0 for the home team!#HOUvNC | #NWSL pic.twitter.com/M9oKdpwgL7— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) June 4, 2018 56' 1-0 North Carolina subs in (1 of 3) #21 Darian Jenkins for #9 Lynn Williams. 60' 1-0 Houston subs in (1 of 3) #14 Nichelle Prince for #11 Thembi Kgatlana.

Dang...Frannie Crouse equalizes in the 79th minute. I really want Houston of all people to hand NCC (the evil empire ) their first loss.
63' 1-0 North Carolina subs in (2 of 3) #12 Frannie Crouse for #25 Meredith Speck. 79' 1-1 Eddy crosses high from 12m wide right to 8m 3-left. Crouse heads down off Hanson's turned back, ball drops through scrum to 6-top 3-left. Crouse follows ball, lets it bounce once to 5m 3-left, kicks a left-foot shot rising over Campbell, into 1/3 left back high. Just a fun little debut for @ohyouFRANCY_huh, who does eventually get that equalizer for @TheNCCourage. All tied up!#HOUvNC | #NWSL pic.twitter.com/w3i6OBILzv— National Women’s Soccer League (@NWSL) June 4, 2018 83' 1-1 Houston subs in (3 of 3) #12 Veronica Latsko for #7 Kealia Ohai.
87' 1-1 Houston right ck, to 6-top right. Hanson flick-heads not-enough, ball continues behind her and bonks chasing Roccaro full in the face, deflects over endline right. Roccaro's head snaps back, and she dives face-first to the grass. Nonetheless, ref totally misses that, gives goal kick to NC +5'. 90+2' (of +5') 1-1 Crouse spins past Kgatlana, Kgatlana grabs a handful of her jersey and pulls her back until she sprawls. Foul, yellow card on Kgatlana. 90+5' (of +5') 1-1 Daly's press has slowed to a walk ... but she's still out there, chasing not-great longballs. FT 1-1.
[SEA-ORL] 01' 0-0 Yanez fouls Kennedy. 02' 0-0 All in Seattle's 1/3 so far: one sustained possession, and Seattle keep losing it out. 03' 0-0 Orlando left throw-in at box top, down mid-left for Leroux, but she gets shielded off, ball bounces over. 03' 0-0 Seattle hoofs up left touch, finally gets ball over midfield! Promptly out, tho
26' 0-0 Fishlock dribbles away from Weatherholt, passes to Dallstream unmarked at box top wide left. Dallstream touches inside to box top mid-left, shoots right foot hard rising to left post, Kopmeyer catches face-high. A tad hurried/overeager: Dallstream had more space and some targets in the box. Good: Gulich, Conklin Worrying: Chesky
30' 0-0 Conklin draws attention to Kawasumi with ... her 1st ponytail She's constantly pulling at it to fix it. 31' 0-0 Aha, Kawasumi has folded it in half to make a topknot! Now she can run freely without oscillations
41' 0-0 Seattle are chipping into the box too much, looking for a jackpot to Taylor 1-v-2. This isn't the short-passing midfield of old. Orlando hasn't been much more patient than that. Both teams think the other side's backline is the weak link?
If there was ever a game for NC to lose, it would have been this one. But somehow they found a way to get at least a point.
FT 0-0. Ehh. Kawasumi had two decent chances, Kopmeyer made both saves. Orlando had a couple of good chances: Leroux headed just wide left (to avoid McNabb), and half-volleyed over the bar. After the match: Cassius runs onto the field, wearing a "2 - Mommy" jersey. Leroux sit-flops down in front of him, sticks out right foot -- and trips him flat clear foul L.Williams(??) also scoops up a toddler. Which one is that?
Very excited to see Yuri Kawamura back on the pitch after her long injury. And for the whole game, nonetheless! Naho sometimes had ponytail in Japan in the past years, but lately she had always gone with the top-head bun. This makes me wonder: has anyone of you ever seen Kawasumi wearing a kimono? She's lovely! Aaah, probably Kop knew too much well all of her former team-mates' move from training sessions in last seasons!
I realize that Riley didn't have much of a choice, but Yuri should not have played the entire game. Her lack of game fitness was showing by the 75th minute. But she also didn't have any bad mistakes in her time on the field, either.
I always thought the Palouse looked like a humongous rumpled up billiard table in the spring, and got a kick out of the wheat being planted almost up to the front door of many houses. Photo by Paul Hetzel https://www.03photography.com/thepalouse/2jyj26mncvia1g4z2dl7l7avsg1yuy P.S. There is a signpost at a tee intersection somewhere out there in the desert between Pullman and Seattle that has 3 arrow shaped signboards; one points to Hay, the second to Dusty, and the third to Washtucna - I love it.
IMO she's made enough mistakes to keep her out of the DOTY list. There always seems to be one moment per game where you wonder what she was thinking.
And at least 3 moments when she pulls their assesout of the fire. Great, team inspiring play is not predicated on no mistakes. Why do people remember John McEnroe and not Pete Sampras?....because at his best, McEnroe was brilliant, while Sampras was merely perfect.
