Agendas. Or maybe just very low and shrinking budgets. They need content and traffic. Giving a reporters an extra day or two to research a topic and interview a broader range of perspectives costs money. And really, the people getting hired to generate this content (to the extent that people will remain the generators of it, long-term) come and go. Salaries are low, job cuts always on the near horizon.
Journalism standards in this country have eroded but it's a chicken or the egg debate. Are people becoming stupider because of the decline in journalism, or is journalism responding to people becoming dumber? I'd argue it's more the latter. I'm very thankful that a former Dispatch beat writer pointed this out to me two decades ago and dissuaded me from going to J School. You can't have news that's presented without any commentary and some context though. There's a reason people don't read textbooks unless it's an academic requirement. The liberties taken with contextualizing is the problem. Writers can and should present news in a way that's both engaging and fairly neutral, so that people read it. It's then up to those readers to actually think critically and form their own conclusions. There's a dearth of that for many reasons beyond lower journalistic standards.
Emma Sears, Rose Lavelle, Aubrey Kingsbury,Lily Yohannes & Izzy Rodríguez I would go after these players if at all possible. I think my daughter is going to be really excited about this team.
I most assuredly had, because I drove along there all the time. Here's the question though - what happened to the Obetz location? Did they give that back to the city or something? If it was good enough for the men for how ever many years, it can be good enough for the women. Is there any reason they cannot build up the existing training facilities at Crew Stadium? I assume they will be playing their matches at the current stadium. But McCoy is ********ing huge, why would they need to take all of McCoy? It just feels like the Haslams are are being greedy and trying to take from the public again. This is the main green area that people from Franklington have to use, and it is also used by a bunch of other people. Just because y'all haven't heard of it doesn't mean it isn't a popular place. That just means that y'all are not as well versed with places as you should be. Do y'all know every park and facility in town? I would wager against it.
Isn't there a good reason why they picked McCoy for the facility in the first place, though? It isn't like this i just going to make it all better for all the people who are losing their park space. And that is a popular park for many people, especially with how convenient it is to access. I just feel like the City does a lot of shit without giving the residents a chance to voice their opinions. They really should have a period like the government does, before decisions are final. Don't go offering things to people before you've taken the pule of the public who are impacted by the decision. I mean, look at the Stadium, it has taken them how long to really even get anything done on the other buildings around it? It is blatantly obvious that the priority is always the team and the other bits can be pushed back indefinitely.
No, we can't, and you come across about as much of a self-entitled douchenozzle as Precourt himself with this kind of bullshit talk.
It's extremely easy to get off at that exit if you're headed northbound on 71. Southbound is a whole other ballgame, and it isn't easy to turn around and go north again either as 104/Refugee is the next closest exit.
Hardin is who Ginther has always wanted to be his successor. I'd take almost anyone else besides those two charlatans.
Nobody is saying that they should not have their own buildings etc but they could easily share fields. People seem to forget what players made do at a place like Obetz and still won a championship. And building up space for the women at Crew Stadium and sharing pitches would also make it easier access for the highway than Greenlawn, too. Again, nobody thinks they should have to share showers, etc. I just hope the NWSL doesn't go the way of their predecessors, but it seems like they have tried to learn from past mistakes. I would hate to see a park get swallowed up only for the team to fold in 5 years.
I don't think we are too far apart. We both hate corruption, and we both prefer people over politicians. They aren't clones but neither of them really gives a ******** about Columbus and our community. They both prioritize themselves and seek to accumulate power rather than serving citizens. They're both liars. Shannon supported giving away McCoy Park too. They're both far better than the extremists on the right but that isn't saying much.
Media consolidation is a culprit. Weathly people and corporations bought media outlets and muzzled "engaging and fairly neutral" content ... for various reasons. So is the hyper-personalization of consuming content via social media. Which drives media to pander to an audience that drives profits. Red Sox owner John Henry's wife ... Linda Pizzuti ... is the managing editor of The Boston Globe. Red Sox are constant drama with 5 GMs in like 10 years. No one in Boston expects The Globe to break any news on the team. Journalism grads rank at/near the top with regards to critical thinking skills. Many are making bank at consulting firms like Accenture and Deloitte. If they did not make an early conversion to social media.
I didnt care to listen to Arace host the Rooster, but I guess there was something about "evicting" people for the mccoy park training facility. At least thats what Morgan shared. Guessing they want to buy up or eminent domain the 8 or so trailers on the one portion of the land They also are looking at additional land, north of the park.
McCoy is surrounded by trailers. I’m sorry to offend anyone here but no billionaire invests $50M plus on a development and says “I guess those trailers will just have to stay there. Sure wish I could buy them out but it wouldn’t be right…”. Come on. Whoever owns the trailers - very likely not the people that live in them, can set a price and Jimmy can pay that price. This happens every day. Nothing to see here Jordan Laird.
"Come to Columbus! You can spend your time in the practice facility right across the street from a trailer park" doesn't exactly have a...ummm... positive ring to it, does it? I think we all know the reality of the situation. It reminds me of how the building where Jack & Benny's is located in being up for sale. The owners (former Crew fans, but that's a different story) hope the business can stay, but when it's just a matter of the right money getting a demolition permit, I think we all know what the future holds. "Money talks" as they say.
Respectfully.... people are not getting kicked out of their trailer spots every day in Central Ohio. Also, the Rooster seeks maximum engagement. HSG, Ginther and the NWSL deal is the gift that keeps on creating opportunities for engagement. I am still shocked HSG has not appointed a respected female leader to be team president and have that person active in the community, aggressively pushing back on the negative narrative that still has legs.
People being paid to troll? That sounds like @THOMA GOL's dream. **Insert photo of Jimmy glaring at people in the Nordecke wearing pink.
https://bsky.app/profile/rooster.info/post/3mkquruypzk26 Rooster edited the h*ll out of the Hardin interview, whatever doesn’t fit his chosen narrative gets cut. At the end of the trailer though, you’ll catch Hardin again saying that the McCoy Park project would not have been built without new funding coming in. FWIW, I’ve heard nothing about purchasing additional land around McCoy Park. The Rooster definitely has his own agenda, so I try to take his information with a heavy dose of salt. He keeps saying that Jimmy’s in the Epstein files too. Given that you lot have been around much longer than I have, has the area around Ohio Health changed much since the Haslams and Edwards’ purchased the team? It still seems fairly rough around the edges to me.
Campus side has improved a little, but that part of Linden will probably be one of the last neighborhoods see any improvements.
That made me spit out my drink! Lol. Don’t tell the celebrity fans in the Nordecke. They would never let it go. The Browns have been buying up houses near their practice facility in Berea. These days you don’t get to spy on a multi billion dollar operation just because you put a deck on your $60,000 house. It’s a common security practice for these teams.
Jimmy is trying to build a Cowboys practice facility like development in berea on top of the brook park deal.
