I'm not sure if they'll be able to stop playing it at Sky Blue matches. Though I'm not sure what the exact wording of the law is. Some politician about 15 years ago decided to make political hay over the fact that the U.S. National Anthem wasn't played at Giants Stadium before an international soccer match that did not include the United States. The state legislature pushed through a law mandating that the U.S. national anthem be played at all games played at venues in the state that were paid for by the public. Though it might have been worded that the Star Spangled Banner has to be played only if any other national anthem is played. Of course it didn't say "when" it had to be played. At England/Colombia in 2007 they played the U.S. national anthem 90 minutes before the game, shortly after they opened the gates for fans to enter the stadium. So I guess they could do that if they had to.
So when I go to the Meadowlands in order to play the ponies (yes I am THAT old), they play it exactly an hour before the first race.
https://www.orlandocitysc.com/post/2021/06/25/orlando-pride-signs-english-international-amy-turner ORLANDO, Fla. (June 25, 2021) - Orlando Pride has signed English defender Amy Turner to a two-year contract with an option for an additional season, it was announced today. Turner joins the Pride from FA Women’s Super League (WSL) side Manchester United, with allocation money used in the signing. “Amy is a player we identified early in our recruitment process for this season who could add more quality in a key position for us, allowing us to both strengthen the way we play now, while opening opportunities for more tactically flexible play moving forward,” Orlando Pride General Manager Ian Fleming said. “Amy's body of work as a professional speaks for itself - she's fought her way up the English tiers of football and played for some of the biggest clubs in the world - and now she'll challenge herself again by playing in the most competitive league in the world as a member of the Pride. We're thrilled to bring her to Orlando.” Turner, 29, comes to Orlando after nearly three years with the Red Devils. Since joining the side ahead of its inaugural season in July 2018, Turner appeared in 67 contests across all competitions, scoring four goals in that time.
Developing story out of Gotham FC today. General manager Alyse LaHue is currently away from the team. Details, and whether this is a permanent situation, are unclear. Club has not replied to request for comment#NWSL— Dan Lauletta (@TheDanLauletta) June 28, 2021
That's, uh, quite the weird and worrying development, for sure. She's been he driving force behind the team's upswing, on and off the field, since that woeful 2018 season. It would be absolutely awful if friction/politics inside the organization has pushed her away... The only "good" potential reasons for this are if she needed a medical break of some kind or if she's being courted by one of the expansion teams.

Except that Paulson is actually on the other side of the lawsuit. It would be the fact that Nike has very deep pockets.
In that he’s an owner in NWSL, sure.. However, Paulson has been trying for quite some time to get her signed to the Thorns and he hasn’t been exactly quiet about that desire…
