Maybe sort out where the games are going to be played before you start selling tickets? I'd be pretty annoyed if I put down a deposit expecting games at White Stadium, bought season tickets expecting the games at Gillette, and now half the games are at still another stadium.
There is a lot of excitement around here. Considering it is still 3 months away, I would assume the number gets over 50k tickets sold..
Very much this. They were already planning to host games for the season 20 miles away from the future stadium site, and made a big deal about it. Now half the games will be a further 20 miles beyond that in another state. They shouldn't have played a game until the stadium was ready to go. Barring that, there are bad options in Boston, but at least they're in Boston.

ESPN to launch 'Women's Sports Sundays' highlighting WNBA and NWSL https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...ns-sports-sundays-2026-wnba-nwsl/88761086007/
I'm hoping it means that ESPN is going to bid for the NWSL TV contract. And not put it on their plus network, or what ever it is.
everything they bid, NFL/College football aside and other traditional historical major leagues in the US, is primarily for streaming purposes. They will put on the occassional Bundesliga or La Liga match to throw a bone to the cable subs, and this Sunday night spot seems like a prime spot (when Kaitlin Clark is not playing).

I get that. My point is the properties that they hold that are NOT the 4 major male sport leagues (and probably the WNBA) are primarily broadcast on their streaming app. They throw an occassional bone, say a Barca or Real Madrid or Bayern match on cable ESPN or ESPN2, but most of these other leagues are shown via streaming. They have inventory, and yes this Sunday night is now one of those dedicated spots.
"Boston" announced 20,000 ticket sales for the opener. And showed just how hip they are by announcing that hot young stars New Kids on the Block will perform at half time. *sigh* This team won't even last long enough to have an opening day at white stadium.
Columbus, Haslams/Edwards as Crew owners + Nationwide insurance, throw their hat in the expansion ring. Looking to start play in 2028 or sooner. Would play where the Crew do, Scotts/Miracle grow field. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...ners-columbus-nwsl-expansion-cleveland-browns
Even for 2028, yes if they get it. But I think the push would be for their own place, like in KC, like Denver and Boston are building.
Why? The ownership group already controls a good soccer stadium. This is going to be a Timbers/Thorns situation.
Because there are things a women's stadium have that a men's stadium does not. I don't know the specifics, but the National team raved about how good the stadium in KC is for women. And Denver has an MLS team, and is building a women's specific stadium. Mind, I'm not saying it will happen if they get the club, but I would expect that there would be a push to go that direction. And this is a different period from when the Thorns joined.
Portland hired Robert Vilahamn as their new coach: https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_...orns-new-coach-tottenham-robert-vilahamn-nwsl He had one good year and one terrible year at Spurs. Weird that the Thorns took so long to hire a guy who isn't currently coaching a team--at this point I had assumed they were waiting on someone who would arrive after the Euro season.
Gotham has expanded their presence on Victory+ with 5 local broadcasts of matches and some other content.
Putting this here, even though it is BBC/WSL based. Talks about women-only stadiums. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/cp85jp6megro
I feel like being obsessed about how many leagues are sanctioned with each classification by US Soccer and "building the pyramid" is kind of a sign of autism. If the leagues aren't going to be tightly integrated then it really doesn't matter whether the crayons are all sorted by color in the box. There are bigger fish to fry. USL's interactions with MLS over the years have proven fraught at best. USL has reasons to feel hard done by, but they really are in land grab mode all the time and they don't vet groups and support teams to provide a stable base of clubs.
