I have not been able to find replays for ION matches on Victory+, at least yet. I could have been given bad info or it could just take longer than I expected for the matches to get archived.
Victory+ does not seem to be a finished product at all. Heck I cannot even seem to turn off the auto-play feature. I have to remember to hit mute when I enter the app and leave it off until I find what I am looking for. But it is a LOT better than not having an app at all.

There are many many things and places where the NWSL appears unprofessional and incomplete but I do enjoy the matches even where the play is slow and plodding. It is also a LOT better than what we struggled with in earlier USA Women's pro leagues. I want "perfect" but I will accept the imperfections that we currently have over not having access to the matches.

    here
US-e youngsters that I'm not familiar with who played this weekend:
    Seattle
    Ainsley McCammon 18 mf started
Emily Mason 23 (2nd year) CB started
    Orlando
    Seven Castain 21 f started
    Portland
Maddie Padelski 18 f subbed in (listed height 4'12", apparently someone is not familiar w/ Imperial measurement system)
Shae Harvey 21 mf subbed in
    Washington
    -
    Gotham
Jordyn Dudley 21 f subbed in
And, they started 34 year old Katie Lampson (Stengel)!)
    Boston
    Annie Karich 22 mf started
    Current
    Katie Scott 18 dm started
Gianna Paul 21 f subbed in
    Utah
Kherrington Ream 16 f subbed in
Kalea Eichenberger 22 f subbed in (signed March 10th)
    Bay
I hadn't heard of Pfeiffer until this weekend 18 f started
    Denver
    Devin Lynch 22 mf started
Natalie Means 22 D subbed in
Yuna McCormack 21 D subbed in
Olivia Means 20 f subbed in
    Courage
    -
    Racing
    Sarah Weber 23 f started
Ella Hase 23 listed as a defender on roster but played as a forward? started
    Quincy McMahon 23 D started
Taylor White 21 f subbed in
Macy Blackburn 22 D subbed in
Audrey McKeen 17 F subbed in
    Wave
    Barcenas 18 f subbed in
Note that Wave only started 2 US-e's, both defenders, + Corley (is she US-e?)
    Dash
    Kate Faase 21 f started
    Linda Ullmark 19 mf started
    Kat Rader 19 mf started
    Leah Klenke 21 D started
    ACFC
Carina Lageyre 22 mf subbed in
Taylor Suarez 20 mf subbed in

I'm amazed. That's 13 forwards that are 23 and under that I've never heard of the played. 4 started. And of those 13 forwards, 5 are 20 or younger.

I counted 9 Fws from your list that I knew of from all the youth teams from U17, U20, and U23s over the last year and a half. Plus college grads who've entered the league this season and last. I guess what I'm getting at is: these "youth" teams plus college grads are absolutely vital to stocking the league. I also noticed a much bigger presence of American players listed on the game-day rosters. We'll see how long this lasts, but it might be a trend that is the opposite of last season's rosters that had a lot of foreign players by mid-season.

Top-of-my-head, these are the ones I knew and didn't from the forwards you listed:

    Castain--didn't know
    Padelski--2024 U17 WC, college
    Dudley--2024 U20 WC, college
    G Paul--college
    Ream--2025 U17 & pro
    Eichenberger--didn't know
    Pfeiffer--2024 Concacaf U17, pro, but ACL mid-2024
    Means--didn't know
    Weber--2025 U23, pro, college
    Haase--2025 U23, pro, college
    T White--didn't know
    Mckeen--U19 friendlies 2025, 2026
    Barcenas--2024 U17 WC, 2023 pro
Faase--think UNC 2025, got injured in game

Also Corley is dual-national born US raised Germany--would have to do "one-time Switch" as is youth cap-tied to Germany, though she's probably out of their plans.

I found that NWSL+ app has archived the six NWSL games from last weekend that were not on Victory+. Victory+ has archived the two games they broadcasted last wked.

Ya, I was counting the number of US-e's that played for each team. But, that concept annoys some people, so I dropped it. But, ya, I was very pleasantly surprised by the number of US-e's that were playing. Some teams only played 2 or 3 imports. Last year I posted wondering why nwsl teams seem to lean so hard into journeyman imported players. Seems like domestics would be cheaper and more likely to stay from year to year. Maybe I was wrong about the numbers last year. But, this year, there are soooo many US-e's playing.

Eichenberger is a weird one. I looked her up. Attached her bio from UW. 5 goals in 56 appearances for the Huskies. And, most of those goals were in the NCAA tournament her final year there.

Was a try-out invitee signed at the last minute by Utah. Very similar to Tiernan, who didn't put up huge numbers (but better than Eichenberger) in college and made LAFC as a last minute signing. May Eichenberger have a similar rookie year. I feel like, of all sports, soccer is one where you're so dependent on your teammates, that as players rise in level, players will emerge that no one ever gave much thought to, or that were labeled as not very good.

That said, there seems to be so many young forwards in the league, even on benches, that it's surprising that Utah didn't do a deal for one. But, I love that she's getting an opportunity.

From the list, the Thorns' Padelski is 5' 5", not 4' 12". Jordyn Dudley, at Gotham, played at Florida State and, if she can learn to manage her emotions, may turn out to be a truly great player.

last year it was hog heaven for foreigners in the stats department as they made up 8 of the top 10 for goals & assists combined(and this didn’t even include such notables as Banda & Bia kept missing much of the season do to injury

    1) Chawinga, still on the injury list
    2) Esther, still injured
    3) Matsukubo, currently at Asia Cup
    4) Cascarino, bought off by Michelle Kang for her London club

A lot of Europeans came only came over after their season was completed or even later when the Euros ended.

current Euro recruitment been kinda weakish; Girelli couldn’t even start for her Juvuntus club/Denver’s goal scorer Kossler never made it to the German NT

@hotjam2 Bia actually played 25 of the 27 KC games last season--it was the season before she missed a chunk of games. Esther played 25 games last season and though she missed a couple of games near the end, the Americans (Shaw and Lavelle) took over and won the Championship.

It's hard to recruit Euros in the middle of their season when the most prominent and NWSL-worthy are still in UCLW knock-out games. We can get run-of-the-mill Euros in January because there is little demand for them in Europe. There's a max of eight really good Euro teams and 16 NWSL teams--the jobs are coming here.

Americans are resurging in scoring in NWSL, read this thread to see what @RalleeMonkey compiles about the young Americans who are key players for their teams.

Not sure what your point is. You are talking about foreigners and Europeans in mix.

It's not like the top goal scorers (focusing on that aspect) in Europe are European, or necessarily from the country of the league. Also, Swanson and Wilson were out the entire season, and Rodman was injured for a lot of the season. And A Thompson missed the latter third of the season as well.

As for Girelli, @blissett can confirm, but I think she was not starting as her transfer was expected.
As for Kossler, it was one goal in one game. Let's see how she does the rest of the season.
Also, for a context, Berger had an interesting interview in which she talked about how NWSL is different and more competitive and physical all the way around and a bunch of European players find it difficult to play here because of that. So the ones that succeed are really are at the top.

    Here's the interview

double checking, my bad, Bia did make top 10.
And Esther did play this weekend….but then wasn’t part of Spain’s all important WC qualifiers(played the previous week)

Esther was on parental leave for roughly two previous months--we were told this a few days before the Gotham-Corinthians Fifa Champions game late Jan. past, which all but sealed Gotham's fate. I guess she was not in peak form to be selected for Spain's qualifiers, which makes sense given how deep they are. Still, she's so good, she scored Gotham's only goal last weekend.

my point was replying to RalleeMonkey as to why Americans are looking way better or starting in more numbers so far this season

and in part agreeing with another post that Euro recruits haven’t been exceptional so far, but could improve when their respective seasons end

Blisstt’s remarks I believe were made before Juvuntus win or die, 2 set games to survive in the Champions League. Girelli didn’t play the 1st game/subbed about in at the 65th minute in the 2nd only to see Juv give up the lead & loose by aggregate—-and no need to remind; to Euros,
The Champions League isn’t anything—it’s EVERYTHING!

odd statements from Berger—-she was only 3rd stringer GK at Chelsea before she left for Gotham…..and in her last NT game, went down about six times, though I felt she was gaslighting those injuries to give teammates break time

I'm immersed in March Madness so this is just a stat report. But, stoked to see Sears match her assist total from last season in the first two matches. I said last season that she gets forward so much, she should be getting assists. She's delivering. If she adds assists to her game, she's going to be making a case to start for the WNT.

Like I said a couple of weeks ago, I think Fuller has a similar talent profile to Hutton. And, here she is with 3 goal contributions in the first two matches. Hope she continues to thrive.

Look at 21 year old rookie Kat Rader, two matches, two goal contributions.

Tordin and Turner were picks to click for me at the start of the season. Both are talented enough to get into the fight with Dahlien (who I'm a fan of) for a spot. Look at Tordin with three contribs in 2 matches.

A lot of potential here, but what I noticed so far is the missing or slow start of USWNT regulars on the score/assist board(Rodman, Lavelle, Sentor, Shaw) and I don’t think Emma’s going to take any chances with newbies while facing a powerful & very cohesive Japanese NT.

Is it just me or feel that the US best suit is FB’s? I mean we not only got Fox, but Gabby T & Patterson looking phenomenal well to go along that Vignolia(Thorns) should be also be given a try.
    —————————————————————
and we really need to send scouts, spies, drones over to check out why Jonsdottir is all of an sudden looking so super fantastic—--currently 3 goals/2 assists in 3 games versus last year’s 1 goal/1 assist in 13 matches. one can only hope it’s she trained harder than anybody else during off season, instead of an perhaps final conclusion/report that her Icelandic NT is always playing in competitive matches(current WC qualifiers & Nations League right after that) instead of sitting at home playing friendlies all year long against lower grade opponents that look more like tourists than competitors(especially since we already payed them to come over, lol)

Rodman has been playing a lot on the left, so it's a bit new for her. I'm not giving it much thought at this stage of the season.
Lavelle and Shaw and the rest of Gotham have been pretty anemic for some reason, though I'm not taking much from the Denver (we are going to have a very solid defense this season) and Orlando (tired legs) matches in that regard.
Sentnor is being coached by Chris Armas, and they just look bad all around.

G Thompson has been looking really, really good. I'm assuming she gets called back up to the senior team and she will get her first major test in a year v. Japan.
    —————————————————————
Last season was a bit of a mess with AC. Jonsdottir came in mid season, and with all the other big name players that came in mid season (Fischel, Ovalle, etc), had a difficult time. Shaw's move was the only one that really seemed to work. But she's also now playing in the middle rather than the right as has been able to take advantage of her speed and strength. Saying that, it was a great tactical decision to move her to the right v. Houston, and her goal was of the highest quality.

I also wonder if she had some negative effect of having played for close to 18 months and now with a rest is looking normal.

    Response to both:

Ya, Armas was a terrible hire. That said, Sentnor plays way better for the NT than for club. I think she had maybe 3 goals last season?

I think Shaw has been injured?

I don't know what's going on with Rodman, but Sears may be ahead of her right now.

Jonsdotter: AC has completely revamped their midfield. Niehues, Borges, Martin is way better than whatever they were running out last season. That said, I'm looking at the line-up sheet from NWSL's website. It shows Fuller as an AW. If that's true, that is a total bummer. That's not her position. I was afraid she was going to get squeezed out by the imports. She started the season as a central player, if she's moved wide, it's going to hurt her numbers bigly and slow her development. She's a phenomenal 10. She's going to stagnate as a winger. I hope she can get the hell out of AC if this is the way this season is going to go.

Rose just seems to go through very long fallow periods with her clubs (staying with the horticultural theme). She then shows up w/ the NT and does her thing. How long will that continue?

I'm hoping Turner continues to play well and forces herself into the CF discussion.

Vignola - I've always been curious about her. She was capped, like three years ago? A couple of years ago, I was watching her pretty closely and decided there was something missing in her game. I don't even remember what it was now. And, didn't she get a stretch where she was tried as an AW? I haven't had time to watch matches w/ March Madness happening, but M.A. is showing out well in the sofascore rankings. Looks like she's working things out.

Regarding our production of fullbacks, the back line is where the bulk of the opportunities are for US-e's in NWSL. If you look at the line-ups each week, the backlines are usually 3, often 4, US-e's. The midfield may not have any. Look at LAFC, one US-e' in the MF (Martin, who seems to be playing really well), in the back they have Sams, King, Gordon, Shores (who appears to be off to a fantastic start), Thompson. And, Fuller, a fantastic AM is getting squeezed out wide.

Just so it's not a sample size of one, I'll look at ACFC's opponent last Friday: And ..... it totally contradicts my point. Wow, Houston is US-emazing! They've got one import starting. And, of their US-e's, Robbe, Graham, and Rader seem to be really capitalizing on their opportunities, in addition to Patterson. And, the team is playing well. 2-1, +3 goal diff. Good on them!
