I'm assuming because of the weather delay. I have been looking for them as well. The only thing I have seen is Rodman's goal on Xwitter.

Cantore’s goals were the fastest brace in NWSL history. Not sure if they meant from the start of the game or between the time they were scored

I guess the former is more likely, but I'll admit I don't know either.

I am not at all sure that Rose's loss is that bad for Gotham. She has been playing OK or a little better but she really, at least up to now, not been great this season. If Gotham has an adequate backup they should not see much, if any, drop in play because of Rose's absence. Of course there is the leadership issue but I am pretty sure she will still be a leader even if not able to play.

Well, we can disagree to agree as the saying goes. Lavelle did get off to a poor start with Gotham and the team suffered to a 1-2-2 start before the Japan friendlies. But she was great against Japan in the two games she played and was Gotham's best player the subsequent three games which were all victories (also instrumental was the incorporation of Reiten in those games, and the emergence of Dudley as a very dangerous attacker). Last night, playing at home without her they were held to a 1-1 draw against the worst team in the league and really could have used her. But Gotham can be inconsistent, even with all their talent, they need all-hands-on-deck to play up to their potential or they can be beaten just like any other NWSL team.

Chawinga with back 2 back hat tricks now, is that an NWSL record? If it ain’t, it could still be two hat tricks in an row where nobody else scored(as both games ended 3-0)

last year i pegged “Vlatko ain’t nothin without Chawinga”—-which turned out to be very prophetic.!Guess I needed to change that, lol

Except Chawinga only scored two goals in the last match. The third goal, which was actually the first scored, has been ruled an own goal off the 'keeper and Chawinga did not even touch the ball on that attack.
A hat trick followed by a brace is very good and very rare but it is NOT two consecutive hat tricks. I was kind of surprised when Chawinga was pulled as i thought she kind of deserved the chance for another hat trick. But i am not the coach so what do I know and Chawinga did not seem upset as she left the field.

Three weeks ago, same broadcast team was doing the Denver v. San Diego. After Flint scored in the 31st minute, they spend the rest of the half talking about San Diego, and their chances to win. This match in Denver v. Orlando, they spend a good 15 straight minutes talking about Orlando and what Banda needs to do. And a cotinuous mention though the half was how Orlando was playing at altitude, as if that was setting them up to excuse the loss. No respect for Denver. [/rant]

I agree. But it is not unusual for women's soccer broadcast teams to go off on a unrelated tangent rant.
BTW: There has been another hair pull red in this match. It was well deserved but it did look somewhat accidental. The broadcast team made a lot of excuses for the hair pull but finally agreed with the call. Mostly.

The thing about the match v. San Diego was that they were talking all about San Diego's chance of winning, not about Denver's chance of winning, considering Denver was leading. I get being neutral and talking about both teams, but to my ears, it was all San Diego.
I thought it was a red to begin with (on the replay), but would not have objected if it had not. Clearly it was accidental by Angelina, but it was still a hair pull. That is the risk when trying to pull a jersey. Gotta say that we are looking like a very solid team. Tonight was good tactical work to prevent getting Banda the ball.

I did not se Carson Pickett in tonight's match but I was not able to give the match the attention it deserved so I might have missed the why of my not seeing her.

I've enjoyed Denver the few games I've seen. They slowly built their roster in the latter part of the pre-season, that trade to get Ryan and Sheehan is looking like genius. They've hit the right combination of starters with Kossler, Flint (who knew of her? I guess Cushing), Oke, Sonis (who said after the game, their goal is to win the League! great leadership) Gaetino (I've always liked her line-spliting passes), Kurtz of course is eminently solid. I guess their GK is kinda journey-man, short-term fill-in (why haven't we seen the French 'keeper?).

They have some bench, I particularly like McCormack, some others. What I really like is your home-field advantage, the amazing attendance and noise they create. Wish I didn't fall asleep and miss the second half!

I think the saying should be (Vlatko ain't nothing without Armas . . . Chawinga, Cooper, Sentnor, Bethune, La Bonta, The crowd, the owners, the city, the whole kit and caboodle. In sum Vlatko needs Vlatko!

Played the last 5 minutes when she came on for Sonis. Though she should have come on for Means earlier, but with the red card, that didn't make much of a difference.

Cushing has said that the roster was built in parts but with experience, and the tactics have been designed so that Heaps can just slot in when she arrives.
The Ryan and Sheehan trade looked questionable the first few matches, but Ryan has really been great (and while mostly on the right, has been popping up on the left). Sheehan seems to have taken a bit longer to make an impact, but is starting to show.
Flint is a revelation in success. Cushing knew of her from his time at Man City, but she is just so good. Last night was interesting in that she had less of an impact than normal.
The strength of the team is the defense - Oke, Gaetino, Kurtz, Sonis, Reid, and Pickett, plus Smith. The biggest difference is that multiple players beyond Kossler are now making an impact on the attacking end.

Smith started the season strong and has legit kept Pauline Peyraud-Magnin on the bench. I liked her when she was with Houston, but she seems to have raised her game and I'm here for it!

I really think we are only 13 or 14 deep. Beyond that there is a big drop off, and this is a particularly concern if Kossler gets injured. It was nice to see McCormack and Blazier out there, but they are not really starting material.

Yeah, that was great. Really enjoyed the home field, and the crowd.

For those that don't watch Denver every match like me, last night was a great example of Cushing's change in tactics. Specifically on the defensive side, looking at the first half of San Diego and the entire Houston matches, there was a high and quick press and caused a lot of trouble for the opponents. If anybody goes back to the San Diego match, it was a fairly obvious switch at half time and it was a tactical mistake that allowed San Diego back into the match. Versus Houston, the team kept up the press all match and there was no answer.

But versus Orlando, they are a different team. Allow Banda to get the ball in space and she'll make the opponents pay for it. Did so with her goal, and almost did it a second time. But what I noticed is that Cushing had the team press high in a more limited fashion and focused more on the middle third. This prevented Orlando from being able to play through the middle and release Banda, and she looked frustrated towards the latter part of the match. That combined with a willingness to be much sterner in the tackle also threw Orlando off their rhythm and they never got settled. You can see this very clearly on Marta's face when she came on at the half.

In combination, we were able to pick up more lose balls in the middle of the pitch and were on constant attack. Ryan, in particular, was dangerous all match. But that was helped by Oke's constant runs down the right, and Geatino bringing the ball up field as much as she did. But what I think really made a difference is the ability to short pass in the attacking third. It caused several bits of confusion from Orlando's defense and the numbers in the box directly led to Sonis' second goal. But that smart short passing also led to the PK. Oihane basically ended up have to defend two quick players - Oke and Ryan - and Oke's well weighted short pass got Ryan past Oihane and led to the penalty.

What was really notable to me was how deflated Orlando looked after Sonis scored her second (just after Banda scored). Even playing down a player, they seemed to have some belief they could come back. But when Sonis replied immediately, that just seemed to take all the wind out of Orlando. And while we were in the place to push the attack and really looked like we might have been able to get one or two more, it was a smart decision to hold the ball and not press the attack. Orlando had nothing and Banda had been subbed off. Credit to the execution, but it was Cushing's tactics that won the match. I thought this match was better than the match v. Houston.

One of the funny things about the support the players have is that several of them have said they get noticed around town - something I guess didn't happen elsewhere. And they seem to enjoy it.

Both Moultrie and Jonsdottir are out for tonight's game between Portland and Angel City:

Olivia Moultrie has played every minute of the regular season (along w. Jessie Fleming) for the Thorns thus far. It will be interesting to see how the Midfield organizes without her tomorrow

Take a look and be surprised!

If playoffs were today, Utah would have home field advantage. That's right, Utah are in 2nd place. And we'd have a Mountain State match up! :ROFLMAO:

I can see San Diego on top, after all, their bolstered by what seems half the Brazilian NT, lol, but as well as promising/upcoming American players like Godfrey, Byars, Ascenio, Bancares & everybody’s favorite new CB, Kennedy Wesley.

Utah is the big surprise though feels more powered by foreigners than domestic players(last match; 5 out of the 6 mid/front starters) and to be honest, not really big names of the game. The two Japanese, Tanaka & Muira, certainly help spark the team, but remembering how the entire J NT played so stiff last outing vs the USA, makes me feel that their not particularly great players, but unlike their slow poke-ish Nadeshiko team mates, this time backed up by one of the world’s fastest players in Lacasse. While she might have a Canadian passport, I believe Lacasse’s born in Iceland(who per capita, make arguably the best woso players in the world due to their thin, slim body build). The Dane, Tomsen; her NT squad doing remarkably well as they’re currently leading in their group WC qualifiers over powerhouse Sweden & Italy. The two Spaniards. Tejada & Rabano; the former was an CB when winning the u20WC for Spain in 2022 but as yet to be called up the senior squad, the latter had a stint with Wolfsburg but was never an starting regular. Prasnikar had some high scoring seasons for Frankfurt, but never came back fully after an devastating injury in 2023. Palacios a fixture on the Mexican NT yet has had an goal so far this season

Utah domestic; several veteran-ish players that gave gone through hard fought campaigns but never made it glory bound ala NT call ups other than Riehl? Otherwise Delzer, Del Fava Monaghan Cronin all been solid i

It;s kinda ironic that Utah plays in a stadium called America First and yet their women's club has many foreign players starting--at least America First on the subs bench.
