Just a follow-up on my earlier posts about ION on Sling. Sling never fixed the guide and still shows that currently an NCIS LA but the match is playing and it appears that the matches will continue to play in order as the actual ION web site shows. Sling is not the best TV provider but the price I got makes using them OK for me. IT is, however, inconvenient for me as recordings cannot be scheduled, at least not easily, without correct guide data. There is already, at least for now, more action in this match than there has been in either of the other two matches, so far, this week.
Was out so only saw the score, then the highlights. Saw Boston got a red, and my first thought was "St. George?" Not a shock at all.
Yeah, St. George ain't no saint. The match currently playing is a LOT better than the last two. But that would be hard not to do. Utah is still turning the ball over a LOT. They may be trying to set the record for unforced turnovers in a match. At least they are playing fairly quickly.
As for Denver, I was impressed with Oke and the way she handled very well Kundananji. Oke's speed was quite really on display v. Kundananji. Got an unfortunate deflection for the second goal, but otherwise was a solid performance. But, was the right call on the red card, and I think that really hurt the team, overall. Might be a challenge for a playoff position, though not expecting.
I assume that you intend sarcasm, and that in that you are truly successful. However what actually surprises me more is that Victory+ does not have a crawler on the screen suggesting when the match is set to restart and the time of the restart on the screen should change when the decision changes. There was for some time a restart time of 6:38 shown but they missed that, I assume that the weather did not cooperate with the proposed time. At this point I have no way of knowing when the restart will actually happen or even if it will happen. The sky at the match appears to be getting darker but that is to be expected as we are close to sunset and it may not mean that the weather is actually getting worse. I see now that they have incorporated the restart time into the score display and it says 7:11, maybe, we can trust that, maybe not.
It seems they are going to miss the 7:11 restart as well. There is now no time indicated on the screen. I do not know but I wonder if the rule making the delay also has a section about how long the delay can go on. I suppose I can actually get some NWSL soccer by switching over to the other match but I am more interested in this one. The teams have not reentered the field and I believe they are guaranteed 15 minutes of warmup. so it, probably, will be at least 7:30 before the restart.
The teams have reentered the field. The projected restart is 7:44. I hope they do get the restart as I have been watching LA vs Chicago and I find it boring, at least so far. The match has restarted, finally.
A question: Is Jess Fishlock the only player in the NWSL who has played in every season since 2013? I can't think of any others. Ratcliff got the winner for Seattle. She is the eternal sub, a sub for every team she's played for. But she's a threat. I like her. What's with Seattle trying and failing time after time to get the ball to Dahlien? They must have a lot of faith in her, but the service to her was awful.
Alyssa Naeher, I think, is the only other one still left although she hasn't played for the same team the whole time like Fishlock. I guess Sydney Leroux is also still active, too, but she's also had some gaps with maternity leaves and such.
Naeher did have a bad game With that being said I still blame the coach/ownership waiting for this nightmare to end
I only saw the highlights...was Chicago that bad, or was Angel City that good? Or was it a combination?
It was a combination but it was, mostly, that Chicago was HORRIBLE and Nayher played extremely stupidly for most of the match. I think they could have stayed at least within striking distance with any 'keeper that played an even decent match. She has been over the hill for several years and it is only stagnation that keeps her in the picture for any pro soccer play. And that has been the case for several years. Her only claim to a starting position for club or country has been her ability to save PKs but that is a tiny part of goalkeeper duties.
Perhaps this is just a Reddit joke, but it is funny just the same. If you know, you know...and I think it's hilarious!
https://angelcity.com/acfc-post/midfielder-hina-sugita-sustains-season-ending-knee-injury Angel City Football Club Midfielder Hina Sugita Sustains Season-Ending Knee Injury March 17, 2026 Hina Sugita out for the season now after ACL injury. Not sure when or where it happened--she was in the match last Sunday. Major loss for Angel City and devastating for Sugita. She is possibly their best player. Was a great acquisition after the Thompson loss late last season.
I just want to comment about Louisville vs Washington. Washington made what seems to be a major change in that they, at least for the first half, played Rodman on the left instead of her normal right. They supposedly made that change to get some other player on the field but neither Rodman or the player they added were effective in the first half and their defense was only slightly above pathetic. They also badly need a goalkeeper. Both the goals were very savable and the 'keeper just kind of fell to the side instead of diving. However the announcers did make some creative excuses for the horrible play. I think they may make some changes at the half to make Rodman's play more effective. I think they should revert to Rodman on the right. Washington seems, at this point, to be a stupid team that is better at making excuses than playing soccer. I hope the second half is better or I will have to admit I chose the wrong match to watch.
No comments about the Reign-Thorns game? That was peak NWSL After Dark. Portland gets a red card (second yellow) less than 10 minutes in, scores 2 goals while playing a man down, and gets another red card later to end the game with 9 players and a 2-0 victory. (Also it's early in the season but it's not looking good for Seattle if they can't score against their rival when playing 11 v 9.)
I had to get my thoughts straight before I posted about that match. And i had to make sure that what I wanted to say was not colored by my preconceptions caused by some very bad experiences i had many years ago in both Portland and Seattle. I found that match profoundly interesting but even more interesting was a little "fact" that the announcers mentioned, namely that Portland had not had much time to prepare for "specialty" situations and so they had not actually practiced a player or two down and they were, mostly, making it up as they went along. That meant that the coach and players did not have preplanned methods for defending and attacking when down players. Fortunately for Portland Seattle seemed to have little clue as to how to attack when up players and so totally failed to actually mount good attacks with good chances at goal. That is Portland benefitted from both their lack of preparation and the greater prep. that Seattle had. I was impressed, greatly impressed, by Portland's effort. I could tell how tired their players were getting but the effort never really let up. In one case I could read the body language of Portland players and they had just completed a stressful attack and "wanted" to walk back to the defense but every one of those players somehow found the energy and sprinted back to play defense. In fact the level of defense that Portland played did not drop even when they were dead tired. Also Portland's 'keeper played a wonderful match but it does not show as she directed her defense so well that the few shots Seattle did produce were perdictable. This match could/should be used as a master class about how to play after going down players. The next match for both teams may be a telling one as both fatigue and mental sluggishness could play a factor in their next matches. I did thoroughly enjoy watching the match and it was nothing like I expected. Also I felt that both red cards were well deserved and Portland should work on not getting more in the future.
It was that thing where you can't see threads when the person who started it is on your ignore list. Just realized today.
The Gotham vs North Carolina match is winding to a close and it looks, baring something extraordinary, like it will end 0-0. I do not know how a match that is mostly full of action can be so boring. At no point, so far, has either team looked like they were in danger of scoring and it has NOT been because of defensive prowess. The teams almost look like they agreed before the match to screw up in the attack before the shot or final pass. I know. or at least believe, that was not the case but only once or twice did any player look upset when the screwed up the attack. No one seemed dominate and no one seemed to actually be playing for the draw but neither team has had a promising attack ended by a great save or a great defensive play. This match was not boring but it did lack a good deal of excitement or quality. Now watch someone score in the last minute after i wrote all that.
