    I'm of two minds about the Savvy King incident. Most people seem to feel that match should have been cancelled. But let's look at a different scenario. Suppose the coach of one of the teams or a referee has a cardiac event on the field or the sideline, should the game be cancelled? Why or why not?

    Suppose the score is 1-0 in a championship game and your team is losing. One of the other team's player collapses in the 76th minute and the refs call the game and your team thereby loses. How do you feel about that?

    Suppose you the ref or the coach or a player suspect a player has had a stroke and brain bleed which requires immediate treatment to prevent death. Obviously you get treatment for the affected player -- but do you cancel the game on the basis of your suspicion?

    What if the ref ends the game because of an apparent life-threatening incident -- but it is later determined that the incident was not life-threatening?

    The policy the NWSLPA is asking for encompasses live-saving measures needed for a player, coach or official.

    The question of abandonment and the question of the disposition of the match results are two different questions. Abandonment simply means that play is stopped for the day and everybody leaves, the same as what happens when a game is called off for dangerous weather. The question of what to do about the match--resume it from the stopped time at a later date, replay in full, or count the result at the time of abandonment, is a separate question for the league to determine, and it would most likely be on a case-by-case basis. A game abandoned in the 4th minute should lead to a different decision from a game abandoned in the 84th minute.

    Yes, those are life-saving measures exactly like what they are talking about. Life-saving measures are not done based on a coach's suspicion; they are done by medical personnel who evaluate the situation.

    Then we thank the ref for prioritizing the safety of the players.

    To be fair the officials asked both team's if they wanted to continue. Both sets of players said yes.

    NWSL played to mixed results in last nite’s Concacaf Champions League semis;

    FC Gotham defeats Club America 3-1
    TIGRES defeats Portland Thorns 2-0

    Gotham vs TIGRES this Sat for the Championship in the latter’s home town of Monterrey

    only saw highlights(full games were on Paramount+)

    a couple mistakes by CA defenders, propelled Gotham’s win, I’m surprised by the other score though as the Thorns featured notable young guns that just got called up to either senior or u23 NT’s & who are currently in 4th place in NWSL standings as compared to TIGRES previous 5th place in Mexican league(though their now in playoffs)

    Thorns were the much better team. Bixby had a major gaffe. Tigres parked the bus.
