Hey Frank (and any Porto fans).

What do you think of this guy as a player? I've only seen him a couple of times for Porto, but wasn't really watching him. He's been linked to Tottenham (along with Ricardo Carvalho), apparently Tottenham may play a preseason friendly in the summer against Porto, and Valente is a transfer that may be concluded at the same time.

Even though I am not Frank nor a Sporting fan, I will give you my take.

Valente has developed into a solid (if not the best) left back in the Portuguese league. He should have a very good career with FC Porto. If he does decide to go overseas, the EPL would not suit his style given that he is very slow footed.

On the other hand, Carvalho is a beast. For the past two seasons, he has quietly become one of the best centerbacks in Europe. The Spurs would be getting a top player in Carvalho. However, he has been linked to Real Madrid in the past, and I would not be surprised if he goes with Mourinho (Liverpool???) should he decide to leave Porto.

I have to agree with Seleccao, also Nuno Valente a ex Youth Sporting player got be close to 30 years old, Mourinho usually when he move's around he likes to take 2 or 3 players with him, Ricardo Carvalho will be one, the other McCarthy, and the other could be Costinha or Derlei
Porto don't usually sale more then one good player per season, and PDC his a very smart president, I think everybody his going to stay at Porto, with Porto going for the big bucks by selling Deco to PSG
