He deserves a shot. His comments are true BUT keep them inside the locker room not in the Press.

I guess nobody told Nunez that the Burn doesn't play rookies. The last rookie to get significant minutes since CC has been here was Ryan Suarez. Other than that, guys come and go but rarely see the field. It is quite unfortunate actually. I guess Nunez sees the rest of the kids in his class playing and even starting games around the league and he is starting to get frustrated.

That being said, mouthing off is not going to help.That was pretty bad putting down the rest of his teammates. Wasn't Pareja's job to mentor Nunez?

I guess we can't say that he isn't ready or confident enough...that's a good thing.

I'm glad he said it. I didn't think anyone was playing very aggressviely last night until Oscar came in. Two goals were scored off of set peices and the other was similar to Nhleko's goal against Metro where they just got a break away because the other team was pressing forward to get the tie. IMO, you have to have players trying to beat defenders off the dribble to open up space and get some dangerous looks. The Burn just seemed to be content passing the ball around the back and any time they passed it forward, the mid or forward that received it one timed it back to a defender, not even looking to penetrate on the dribble.

I know the Burn have won the last two but, I don't think they were quality wins.

 

I fault T-Lo for publishing this. While it's a quote, and it might be accurate, comments from rookies that are not "I just want to get some time and contribute" are really not worth publishing.

He's got Adu-envy and that is something that should be taken care of. I figure Jason, Oscar, and maybe Collin will all be giving little niño a call to tell him that he needs to watch what he says to someone who's not on the team.

And he may have shot himself in the foot. Simo got a red card, and he could have started next week...but now who knows what will happen.

 

If Nunez didn't start after we lost 4 straight games, I highly doubt that he would get the start now. It doesn't matter who gets a red card.

I agree with Viking that Nunez has Adu-envy but can we blame him? He is supposed to be our Adu and he knows it.

Also - while I personnally would like to see Ramon, I trust Colin Clarke's judgement on the timing of when to play Ramon.

I am in between. I am not ready to turn central midfield over to him, but I think Colin needs to get him more and more minutes as the year goes by. He needs to fill in at right mid, left mid and central mid. This next game is a good opportunity for him or Stone to get quality minutes as a starter. The Burn for too long have not given their rookies quality minutes and they haven't developed. That needs to change. Add Goodson, Wagenfuhr and Maurin to the list. Not starts just minutes from time to time and by the end of the year they could be challenging for starting minutes.

 

IMHO, this is a non-story. Nunez should be frustrated if he is as close as Buzz says he is in practice. If he wasn't frustrated, I would be worried. I also expect all of the rookies and younger players that have not gotten any time to feel the same way as Nunez. If they don't, they need to pack their bags.

The rookies have played a grand total of 5 minutes this season (all 5 by Nunez). CC at some point will have to use his rookie class if he expects to sustain this route one style of play once the warm weather gets here.

 

He was noticeably not playing in the match tonight. Such a shame too because it would've been a wonderful opportunity to win over some Hispanic fans.

 

If Clarke uses this as (yet another) excuse not to play Nuñez, then HE'S the one who's the fool. We need better players on the field, period.

Pareja was like a B-12 shot out there last night. Davis is just useless these days.

 

I am sorry if Ramon suffers for this, but I want to see him play. I want to see us get something exciting in the middle. I think the world of Simo, but with him in there, I want someone like, oh, Oscar with youth.

I thought you brought in Stone for an absent Simo.

O'Brien and Simo need to stay in the midfield. We need to give some others some playing time. If only not to go crazy from this boring ass style of play.

And by the way, O'Brien may be the most Latin of all of our players right now. Screw the Hispanic fans. We ALLl want to see prettier football.

I agree that Clarke has to get guys some minutes...but hey they just lost 3 straight games and you don't give guys minutes when you are trying to get half the team on the same page. Burn don't have the luxury of a lineup made up of mostly last year's team. Even the guys that WERE on the team were not necessarily playing (Gbandi was, but poorly, Jolley new, Salyer played once I think, Gibbs is new, Behnke played a couple places, Garlick is new Quill is new Simo is new and the way EJ is playing, he's half new)

I honestly thought and hoped that Clarke would put Nuñez on last night, but instead he went for Pareja. Can you say that was a tactical mistake? I can't, they won a game they were playing marginally in, and Pareja helped them close that game down.

I think Davis Nuñez Pareja Obrien is perfectly possible next game, or
Davis Obrien Pareja Nuñez, either way. I don't think Clarke or any other MLS coach has to make excuses for not starting an NCAA player 4 months after he joins an MLS team, at CENTRAL MID.

On the other hand, he did not play in the scrimmage...I take that as a positive. Either he just paid his punishment, or he's starting next week and Clarke didn't want to risk him. Just my theory

 

Personally, I'm sick of hearing "Put in [insert lating player] and start winning back latin fans". I think that's the biggest crock of sh!t. It may be legit to look for that when signing new players; but when making your roster, play your guys who will get the damn job done, not who's going to appease a certain group of people. I don't care if Mickey Mouse plays, so long as he contributes!

That being said, I think Brad Davis is absolutely worthless out there. I want Nunez in the game. His mouthing off like that was stupid & I wish he hadn't done it, but he's young & stupid, so...

 

I agree. I would add that the fact that he has not been loaned out to an A-League team might be an indication that CC thinks he might be playing him. Of course, there could be other reasons.

 

I disagree Viking. The quote has created a thread, and that right there show's its worth publishing. T-Lo's job is not to decide if something is printed or not because it was said by a rookie or a three-legged monkey or whatever. T-Lo's job is to report on the team, and Ramon's playing time is definitely an issue which affects the team on many levels (no matter what you think the answer is on any of these) - 1) Is he the solution at #10; 2) Would he help the team's disasterous marketing issues; 3) Will CC be able to develop young talent, etc etc.

I personally think that a) he needs to play more and b) don't think he would help with marketing.

But, he needs to shut his trap and not mouth of to the media.

 

I totally agree, Ive never heard in any other sport "get a such-n-such player to attract such-n-such fans". I dont care if we have 11 martians out there as long as at the end of the day they get a win.
